Even with a 60 percent drop, the animated film was still able to haul in million. That is the ninth-best second weekend of all time, and with 3 million in the bank it is good enough for eighth place after ten days of release. Incredibles 2 last year had 9.7 million and the live-action Beauty and the Beast was at 9 million in 2017. They now move down to ninth and tenth all-time. All signs right now suggest Jon Favreau’s redo is headed north of 0 million domestic. It is over 2 million worldwide to date and already 47th on the all-time chart.Once Upon a Time…Generally, films about Hollywood and the industry do not draw the same reactions from the public as they do from critics and people in the know. Comedies such as Tropic Thunder, Get Shorty, and Bowfinger have done well enough, but more inside baseball stuff about the business, like Ed Wood and Hail, Caesar!, have not exactly attracted major interest. But throw in two of the most recognizable names in front of the camera and a third behind it and all of a sudden you have Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which earned the biggest opening of Quentin Tarantino’s career with .35 million. Better even than his last go-round with Brad Pitt in August 2009 when Inglourious Basterds opened to .05 million. However, it may be the other star that is the true secret sauce.Leonardo DiCaprio is as safe a bet these days in casting original projects. Directors like Martin Scorsese and Christopher Nolan help, but the Oscar winner also elevated Baz Luhrmann and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu to the biggest successes of their careers as well. DiCaprio’s last four films (including his supporting turn in Django Unchained) have grossed 6 million or higher. Go back a full decade to 2010 and you can make the streak six out of seven (with Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar being the sole outlier with just .3 million total). Inception (.7 million), The Great Gatsby ( million), and Shutter Island ( million) all opened higher, but that just means that Once Upon a Time is the fourth-best opener of DiCaprio’s career, just as it is Pitt’s. World War Z (.4 million), Mr. Mrs. Smith (.3 million), and Troy (.8 million) all opened higher. Pitt has had ten 0 million grossers as either a lead or co-lead. If you count Django, then DiCaprio has had ten as well. An opening like this certainly gives both actors a chance to take those numbers to 11.The Top Ten And Beyond(Photo by Sony Pictures)Spider-Man: Far From Home crossed the billion-dollar line worldwide this week; it is the first Spidey film to do so. With 4 million after 27 days, the film overall is still right in line with 0 million grosser The Hunger Games and still a bit ahead of 2002’s Spider-Man. However, its fourth weekend of .2 million is well behind the respective million and .5 million fourth weekends of those films, so it is fading a bit faster. Transformers: Dark of the Moon posted a million fourth weekend as well, and finished with 2 million. Far From Home is still about million ahead of that film’s place and is likely headed somewhere in the vicinity of Spider-Man 2’s 3 million. Worldwide it is currently the 32nd-best earner of all time and seems on track to pass Skyfall’s .108 billion and become Sony’s highest-grossing film ever.Toy Story 4 is going to cross 0 million domestic next weekend, and after 38 days is the 18th-highest grosser ever. Its .8 million sixth weekend is better than 11 of the top 20 films on that list, and looks ready to finish north of 5 million. That will help get the film over a billion as it currently stands as the 56th-highest-grossing film ever worldwide. Ahead of it at the moment, globally, is Disney’s live-action Aladdin, which, with .009 billion in the bank, is the 39th-highest-grosser ever. Finally, in limited release news, Lulu Wang’s The Farewell — still brandishing a perfect 100% on the Tomatometer — made it into the Top Ten this weekend. It is the first film not in wide release to hit the top ten since the weekend of Mar. 22-24 when No Manches Frida 2 grossed .77 million in 472 theaters. The Farewell is only in 135 theaters nationwide and grossed .55 million this weekend. How does that stack up to similar releases? That is better than A24’s Eighth Grade did last summer when it expanded to 158 theaters in weekend three and grossed .26 million. When Revolutionary Road jumped to the same number of theaters in its third weekend, it grossed .42 million that week and went on to gross .91 million total. Among a sample of some of the more successful indie releases between 125-150 theaters at this point, The Farewell is not quite up to the heights of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon or Midnight In Paris, but with .6 million after 17 days it is ahead of all the rest of them, including such notable titles as There Will Be Blood, Boogie Nights, and Thank You For Smoking. Next weekend’s nationwide expansion will paint a larger picture. This Time Last Year(Photo by © Paramount)It was Tom Cruise and Mission: Impossible – Fallout handily leading the way with a .23 million opening. That was more than the next five films in the top ten combined, including the disappointing bow for Teen Titans Go! To The Movies, which only began with .41 million. Both films were very well-liked with critics, scoring 97% and 91%, respectively. Last year’s entire Top Ten averaged 71% on the Tomatometer and the Top Ten grossed 3.33 million; just the 42nd-best among July weekends since 1990. This year’s Top Ten averaged 73.7% on the Tomatometer and grossed a total of 2.52 million, only the 34th best.On the Vine: Hobbs Shaw Hopes For Spinoff SuccessFor the third week in a row Hollywood is delivering just a single new wide release into theaters and it could be another big one. Fast Furious Presents: Hobbs Shaw hopes to explode next week after the previous three films in the franchise opened to million or higher. Will Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham’s partnership draw the loyal fanbase to similar numbers? Also next week, A24 expands Lulu Wang’s The Farewell nationwide. And look for other well-received Sundance fare in limited release, including Luce (95%) with Naomi Watts, Octavia Spencer, and Kelvin Harrison Jr., as well as Jennifer Kent’s follow-up to

What it is: A teen Emily Dickinson was a rebel with gifts and intelligence well beyond her years; Dickinson is the story of how she set out to be the world’s best living poet in ways both unexpected and engrossing. Why you should watch it: Creator Alena Smith’s hit flagship series with Apple TV+ left us wanting more the minute it started. Why? Well, Dickinson is herself a subject of intrigue, and played by an Oscar nominee like Hailee Steinfeld (who’s also attached as an executive producer), she’s certainly a compelling character. But set to a contemporary soundtrack, sprinkled with millennial-tinged dialogue, and boasting a fast-paced, fantastical, feminist aesthetic that leaves period dramas of yesteryear in its dust, Dickinson is simply unlike anything we ve seen before — and that’s a good thing. (Photo by Warner Bros./ courtesy Everett Collection)All 8 Zack Snyder Movies, Ranked by TomatometerDirector Zack Snyder was among the frontlines in the battle to bring back the zombie, his 2004 Certified Fresh remake of Dawn of the Dead nestling in snugly with the likes of Shaun of the Dead and Land of the Dead. But it was with his second feature that he developed a signature style: 300, combining a comic-book palette with unflinching machismo and fetishistic style. The adaptation of the Frank Miller comic was a pop-culture phenomenon, and helped establish the gritty Warner Bros. look on comic-book movies that started with V for Vendetta and was furthered by The Dark Knight. There was no stopping Snyder now, as he next tackled Watchmen, once thought a graphic novel too dense and troubling for film. Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga Hoole and Sucker Punch were stepping stones into the world most know Snyder for: As the creative guide behind Superman movies, and the DC Extended Universe beyond. Man of Steel was a big enough box office hit for the studio, and if audiences had some qualms about the direction of the character, their curiosity was nonetheless piqued for the next movie. That would, of course, end up being the biggest title bout of comicdom: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Ben Affleck put on the suit, the first to do so after Christian Bale in his Dark Knight trilogy run, and went mano-a-mano with Henry Cavill. A single word may have put this quarrel between two mama s boys to bed, which opened the path to the next movie referred to in BvS s subtitle. Justice League arrived, pulling in Gal Gadot, who would go on to make the Certified Fresh Wonder Woman, and introducing the new movie versions of The Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher). Justice League s disappointing Tomatometer and box office have made Release the Snyder cut! a clarion call for the online hordes, referring to the supposed three-hour version of the movie that existed  before studio executives and meddling forced it down to its current 120-minute runtime.Snyder has since lessened his presence within the DCEU (he s still a producer on Wonder Woman 1984), and is returning to where it all began with Army of the Dead, an upcoming Netflix movie starring Dave Bautista about mercenaries who pull off a heist in Vegas during a zombie outbreak. And now, we re pulling a heist ourselves as we sneak into the past and bringing up every Zack Snyder movie ranked by Tomatometer!亚博在线登录入口Alien, Ridley Scott again visits the world of artificial life, with equally fascinating and thrilling results. — Grace Randolph, Beyond the TrailerFINAL THOUGHTS?Watching “Raised by Wolves,” you feel a certain gratitude that someone can still make sci-fi projects like this, that creatives can keep tinkering with our thoughts of the future while reflecting modern themes back at us. — Nick Allen, RogerEbert.comIt s a show that throws concept after concept at the wall, though in Scott s seasoned hands, the vast majority of them stick, setting the stage for one of the most interesting sci-fi shows in years To put it simply, Raised By Wolves is peak Ridley Scott. — Siddhant Adlakha, IGN MoviesHands down the most thrilling original sci-fi show in more than a decade. — Meghan O Keefe, Decider

After a run of Rotten disappointments in the early 2000s, horror maestro Wes Craven released airplane thriller Red Eye in 2005. It was acclaimed as a smarter-than-average, skillfully made terrorist thriller at the time – a two-hander about two strangers who meet on a plane, one a dedicated hotel employee, the other a sinister suit with a secret and a terrifying mission – and would be the late director s final Certified Fresh film. And yet the movie has been largely forgotten by many, and is rarely mentioned among Craven s best works. It s easy to see why: The director is synonymous with Freddie, and Ghostface, and violent 70s and 80s terrors; Red Eye was in many ways a conventional thriller, well done if slight, bearing little of Craven s trademarks at least on the surface. Look closer and the movie has the director s bloody fingerprints all over it, from his ability to expertly read and reflect a nation s current fears to his fine work with young, on-the-verge actors. And yes, he even gives us a great Craven crescendo. So, hear us out: It s time we remember Red Eye for what it is – one of the master of suspense s best works. Here s why.It Marked A Triumphant Comeback For the Legendary Director(Photo by © Dreamworks)Horror fans rightly revere Wes Craven as a legend, a master of horror, the man who gave us iconic and genre-defining works like A Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, and The Hills Have Eyes. If there was a Mount Rushmore for scary movie guys, his face would be on it. But in a 40-year career there are always going to be misses among the hits, and Wes Craven’s filmography is about as bumpy as a desert road trip in a Wes Craven movie. (Remember Vampire In Brooklyn? Or My Soul to Take? Or The Hills Have Eyes 2? We do.)The director hit a particularly rough stretch of road following the success of Scream 2 and 1999’s kinda-sorta-well-received play at Oscar glory, Music of the Heart, an earnest inspirational-teacher drama starring Meryl Streep. In 2000, he released Scream 3, the first and only Rotten entry in that franchise, and followed that up with Cursed, a so-bad-it’s-actually-fabulous-in-retrospect attempt by Craven and Scream writer Kevin Williamson to revive the werewolf genre… by making a Scream rip-off with snouts. (Production was a complete mess on the project, largely thanks to interference from the Weinsteins, and it shows.)By 2005, the only way for Craven was up, and – cue airplane metaphor – Red Eye allowed him to soar. Liberated from studio interference and overwhelming expectations – he wasn’t being asked to close out a beloved trilogy or kickstart another subgenre renaissance – Craven brought his formidable talent for suspense to a smart and self-contained script by Carl Ellsworth, and showed his often too-unsung ability to bring the best out of young actors. Critically lauded as one of the tightest, most nerve-racking thrillers to come along in years, Red Eye was a reminder that the master still had a knack for terror – no matter the altitude. It’s Anchored By Two Great Performances (Photo by © Dreamworks)It’s a testament to Cillian Murphy’s skill as an actor that we don’t dismiss him – or the film, really – the instant we learn his villainous character’s name is “Jackson Rippner.” Murphy, whose 2005 would include his entrée into the mainstream playing Scarecrow in Batman Begins, is all alluring mystery as he flirts in the check-in line and over drinks at an airport bar, and when the script turns, he makes a seamless transition to pure menace. But the movie ultimately belongs to this two-hander’s other hand, Rachel McAdams, fresh off of The Notebook, showing the same steeliness and pluck audiences loved in that film as she tangles with an altogether different kind of male pursuer. Like Rippner, her Lisa undergoes a transformation as the plane races towards Miami: From exhausted daughter allowing herself a little fun to terrified prey, and, ultimately, resourceful final girl, and McAdams delivers on every note. By the time the film devolves to a Scream-a-like in its house-bound finale – or ascends to it, depending on your tastes – you find yourself rooting for her just as you would a bloodied, bruised, but still-standing Sidney Prescott or Nancy Thompson. It Perfectly Captures the Nightmare of Post 9/11 Travel(Photo by © Dreamworks)Craven was an expert when it came to perfectly encapsulating an era s fears, and Red Eye is no exception. Flying in the years after 9/11 was a source of serious anxiety for many Americans onto whose brains the images of that tragic day were still freshly etched. That anxiety was stoked throughout the 2000s by reports of unsuccessful terrorist attempts – Richard Reid’s failed shoe-bombing among the earliest – involving commercial flights and airports. The palpable national fear around air travel led to many things: The time-consuming security measures we undergo when we fly; some awful racial profiling by passengers and authorities; and, of course, several movies that tried to mine that fear for cinematic thrills. In 2005, Red Eye did just that, along with the bigger-budget Flightplan, starring Jodie Foster as a mother who wakes up mid-flight to discover her six-year-old daughter has disappeared. (Author side note: On a flight back in 2005 I was awakened mid-flight BY Jodie Foster lightly bumping my shoulder as she took her child to the bathroom!) But Red Eye was the more successful of the two, critically if not commercially, because it hit the nerve harder and more directly. Where Flightplan’s tale was complicated, confused, and conspiracy-focused, Red Eye was born directly from the very simple questions many travelers were sweatily asking themselves as they took their seats: Who am I sitting next to? What if I’m on that flight? Would I fight back – or cower? The movie also gets the more general horrors of modern-day air travel spot on, with nods to the draconian security process – “Flying’s so much fun these days!” – and one of cinema’s most realistic renderings of coach class. Just watching Lisa squeeze herself down the aisle as other customers sardine themselves into the cabin, over-stuff the overhead, and, in one particularly visceral cutaway, slurp up a box of noodles… I shiver every time. It’s A Not-So-Veiled Dig At Corporate America(Photo by © Dreamworks)In one sense, Red Eye is a high-octane game of cat-and-mouse between a psychotic terrorist and a resourceful final girl; in another, it’s about two cogs in two different corporate machines trying to satisfy their employers and getting in each others’ way in the process. Because that really is the crux of what the two characters are doing: Lisa, the ever-diligent employee, who’s seen constantly solving problems for her mega hotel and its customers, is willing to risk her own father’s life to try to avoid harm coming to either; Jack is the mid-level manager who’s been given an assignment – get Lisa to change the room – and will stop at nothing to keep a client satisfied. The client just happens to be some sort of terrorist organization.Jack in particular becomes a kind of maniacal embodiment of make-the-sale-at-any-cost corporate culture – he’s the knife-wielding version of a Wall Street banker in some respects – and at one point leans in to tell Lisa they may not be so different. “I never lied to you, Leese,” he says, as she struggles for air. “Know why? ’Cause it doesn’t serve me. We’re both professionals. We have the will and means to follow through. ’Cause when we don’t, our customers aren’t happy. And when they’re not, we suffer and our lives go to s .” I swear I ve read that in a corporate training packet somewhere The Ending Is Bonkers, In a Good, Polarizing, and Craven-y WayAt the time of its release, a number of critics pointed out that the thriller’s finale feels out-of-step with the taut, disciplined film that precedes it; when the plane lands, the intimate suspense Craven built up in the fuselage is traded in for an elaborate chase sequence that takes us through the airport and eventually to Lisa’s father’s house where Rippner grabs a knife and gets all Ghostface on us. There’s hiding behind walls, and creaking doors, and falling while running away, and a pretty great he’s-behind-the-door jump scare. It s all a bit ridiculous. Why does it work? Because for all of its incisive mining of post-9/11 fears, its light social commentary, and its tight script, Red Eye has an air of the ridiculous right from the get-go. Everything in the film is heightened to an almost surreal, wink-wink level: Think Jayma Mays’ hilariously frazzled hotel receptionist; Colby from Survivor showing up as a cartoonishly stoic bodyguard; almost every other passenger on the flight rendered as if plucked from an SNL skit; and the overall terrorist plot itself. Just when you think that having a government official moved to a penthouse suite so that it’s easier for terrorists to blow up his room with a surface-to-air missile is straining credulity, said terrorists retrieve their missile by fishing it out of the water with… a few regular fishing rods. The movie’s climax is only out of step if you weren’t paying attention to the movie itself. It is excessive, and, yes, it has more than just echoes of Craven’s previous work, but it’s also a release; the director eschews a tighter, neater, subtler ending to give the audience what they want, making a meal of the tension he s built throughout and throwing on a second dessert of slasher fun just because he can.And Craven can, which is the other exciting thing about this finale. It is tense and scary and delicious. After two public failures, and with his ability to jolt us out of our skin in question, the master gives us 15 minutes of what he does best, reminding us he s indeed still a master. Just because he can.Red Eye was released on August 19, 2005.

(Photo by Orion/ courtesy Everett Collection)All Jodie Foster Movies Ranked1974 drama Alice Doesn t Live Here Anymore is already one hell of a way to jump-start a pre-teen acting career for Jodie Foster, yet it would be her second collaboration with director Martin Scorsese that made her an international star. 1976 s Taxi Driver was a shocking game-changer in a decade full of them, with Foster s casting as a 12-year-old prostitute eliciting awe and dread from audiences, not to mention an eventual Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. As a new unlikely industry It girl, Foster quickly began to fill her resume with roles equally precocious (Freaky Friday, Bugsy Malone) and dark (The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane) following Taxi Driver.Foster continued to hone her craft through the 80s and into the 90s, receiving a Best Actress Oscar for 1988 s The Accused, and moving on to even bigger Oscar night wins for 1992 s The Silence of the Lambs. 1995 s Nell would be Foster s last Oscar nom to date, but the Golden Globes have been more receptive: She s been nominated since for 1997 s Contact, 2007 s The Brave One, 2011 s Carnage, received the Cecil B. The series is dedicated to exploring the fandom surrounding The Flare, a fictional drama based on a fictional sci-fi book series by fictional author TJ Whitford, “The Moon is the Sun at Night,” which, according to the press release announcing the very meta news, “has been a favorite of Fred Savage’s since childhood. The first directors to break ground were Stephanie Rothman in the 1970s with cult film The Velvet Vampire, and Kathryn Bigelow in the 80s with another vampiric film, the neo-Western Near Dark. (Bigelow, of course, would go on to make further history as the first woman to win the Best Director Oscar for Zero Dark Thirty.) Still, it would take many more years for the horror space to truly open up. The 90s, generally regarded as a weak decade for horror, had no Fresh or Certified Fresh films directed by women. The 2000s saw some pick-up with American Psycho, Amer, and In My Skin. The 2010s were a watershed decade for horror: The genre became an engine that elevated underserved voices and adroitly exposed societal ills and terrors. Over 30 horror movies directed by women were marked Fresh and Certified Fresh in the 2010s, establishing names like Jennifer Kent (The Babadook), Issa López (Tigers Are Not Afraid), Julia Ducournau (Raw) and more. The 2020s continue strong with Leigh Janiak (Fear Street trilogy) and Nia DaCosta (Candyman). We ll be adding to this list as horror continues to grow and evolve. Now, discover the best horror movies directed by women!

Marvel Studios made a deal with actor Jeremy Renner in advance of the film and he made his debut in Thor as the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent with a singular talent for archery. More details about him would have to wait, though, for Avengers: Age of Ultron, as the first film was already stuffed with story threads from the other heroes films. Nevertheless, Renner bided his time as a Marvel guest character, knowing a starring role would eventually materialize.Meanwhile, back in the Marvel Comics universe, Clint was enjoying a new inrush of fans as he starred in a Hawkeye series from writer Matt Fraction and principal artist David Aja. The stylish, indie-tinged series set out to reveal what Clint does when he’s not with the Avengers. The answer, as it turned out, was as eventful as any mission with the team. He inherited a building, had to save it from a crime family with a love of tracksuits, adopted a dog, and worked with Young Avengers Hawkeye, Kate Bishop, to survive the impossibility of existence and drink coffee. These two strands of Hawkeye’s existence are about to collide in Disney+’s upcoming Hawkeye series. As the recently uploaded trailer for the program reveals, Renner’s version of Clint will be meeting foes (and allies) in a tale Disney and Marvel are positioning as the feel-good superhero action series of the holidays. So let’s take a look at what we know about the series so far and determine just how much more like Hawkeye Clint can get.Clint’s Weird Holiday(Photo by Marvel Entertainment)Based on the trailer, it’s clear the story will be set during the 2023 holidays, a handful of months after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Clint brings his children to New York for this special trip because, as he puts it, he’s “making up for lost time.” So, clearly, both he and the kids are still adjusting to the reality of the Blip and the five years Thanos (Josh Brolin) stole from them. But soon, Clint learns someone else has become Ronin, the costumed persona he adopted during those five years of darkness. As glimpsed in Endgame, Ronin was a ruthless and relentless scourge to the criminal underworld. His campaign was so intense, in fact, that few of the surviving Avengers believed Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) could bring him in from the cold. And, clearly, some of that past will catch up with him even if the person in the Ronin costume is Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), the self-professed world’s greatest archer. Of course, she has problems of her own – otherwise, why dress up as Ronin in the first place? Based on the Young Avengers and Hawkeye comics, we expect some of those problems will be very close to home. Also, according to comments made by Renner and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige ahead of the show s production, Clint will mentor Kate in some capacity. The meeting of Hawkeyes, meanwhile, will lead to plenty of action, some silliness, and (we hope) the best look at Clint’s life outside of Avenging yet seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.A Return To Old New York(Photo by Marvel Entertainment)Of course, no Hawkeye series based on the Fraction and Aja comic book would be complete without New York and the trailer makes it clear most of the series will stick to the five boroughs. For close watchers of the MCU’s ever-evolving landscape, getting a look at the city ahead of Spider-Man: No Way Home will be of particular importance. For one thing, there will be Easter eggs like the Rogers musical on Broadway, but we imagine the series will also contain a few echoes to Endgame’s nearly deserted New York and offer some details about how that desolate New York reshaped itself into the one glimpsed in The Falcon and the Winter Solider and Spider-Man: Far From Home. As it happens, there is room here to make pointed references to The Daily Bugle and the Global Repatriation Council. Also, the glimpses of Manhattan in the Hawkeye trailer sure remind us of the same island featured in the Netflix Marvel shows. Hope springs eternal that it may mean the return of a Wilson Fisk or Jessica Jones – even if just as mentioned characters somewhere along the way. Of course, only rumors suggest such a thing occurring.A True Cast Of Characters(Photo by Marvel Entertainment)As mentioned earlier, Renner returns as Clint. Or, more specifically, the MCU version of Clint. He differs from the comic book character in a couple of key ways. For one, MCU Clint is a devoted husband and father. Back in the comics, Clint’s love life is the butt of many, many jokes as he’s romanced a number of women over the years (even married at least one person), but always screws up his relationships. And as for kids, well, there is an unfortunate story there, but the Clint of the Fraction and Aja comics was in no place to be a father.Curiously though, the trailer hints at MCU Clint accruing some of the comic book character’s energy during the five years his family ceased to exist. We also expect Clint to reckon with being a remorseless killer for much of that time and discover what it means to reintegrate into a family who experienced none of the turmoil during the Blip.Joining him on this adventure is Steinfeld as Kate Bishop. It remains to be seen how she will differ from her comic book counterpart, but we will say this: she is Hawkeye. Like comic book Clint, things never quite go her way even though she is a more successful at adulting. And thanks to a story written by Fraction and drawn by Annie Wu – and expanded upon in a subsequent series by Kelly Thompson and Leonardo Romero – Kate has a wonderful, down-on-her-luck private detective vibe. And with Steinfeld in the part, she might be the most significant addition to the MCU roster from the Disney+ programs so far. Although, we freely admit we may be biased.(Photo by Marvel Entertainment)The series will also feature Vera Farmiga as Kate’s mother Eleanor – a key clue into Kate’s story as her mother is quite significant in her comic book storylines Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez (the deaf assassin known as Echo); Fra Fee as the mercenary Kazi; Tony Dalton as Jack Duquesne, a man with key ties to Clint s past; Zahn McClarnon as Maya’s father William Lopez; and Brian d Arcy James in an undisclosed role. Ava Russo, Ben Sakamoto, and Cade Woodward also return as Clint’s children. And perhaps most importantly, a golden retriever named Jolt takes on the iconic role of Lucky the Pizza Dog. Hopes are already riding high that an episode will adapt the issue of Hawkeye which is seen from Lucky’s point of view. Also, Florence Pugh is expected to turn up at some point as Yelena Belova. If you recall her final scene in Black Widow, Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) points her in Clint’s direction as the person most responsible for Natasha’s death. We expect that confrontation will be crucial to the story and, hopefully, lead to at least one reveal about the Contessa’s plans.Behind The Bows(Photo by Marvel Entertainment)Hawkeye’s head writer is Jonathan Igla, a veteran of Bridgerton and Sorry for Your Loss. Other writer’s include Katie Mathewson and Tanner Bean. On the directing side, episodes will be helmed by Amber Finlayson and Katie Ellwood (who go by the directing name Bert and Bertie) and Comrade Detective’s Rhys Thomas, a group of talent who suggest Hawkeye will be one of the lighter Marvel shows, which is in keeping with the Fraction-written comic book. The source material still hit on some serious topics, though, and saw Clint’s hearing loss take on a new prominence. Set photos from the series suggest MCU Clint will lose some of his hearing during the program, and a few shots from the trailer reveal what appears to be a hearing aid in Clint s ear.Filming took place in New York and Georgia across the 2020 holiday and into Spring of 2021. Photos of Steinfeld in costume circulated widely one week before Marvel confirmed her involvement in the program. Subsequent pictures also confirmed Fraction’s Tracksuit Mafia, so expect the utterance “bro” to get stuck in your head.Taking Aim In NovemberThe six-episode series debuts November 24 on Disney+ with episodes streaming weekly through December 29. And as it is part of Marvel Studios second TV show round, it is unclear if the program will continue for a second season, but we can easily imagine Kate moving to the West Coast and becoming a P.I. in Season 2.On an Apple device?
