亚博足球网址采用百度引擎8(Baidu 8)The television landscape for comic book shows has changed since last year. In August of 2018, 14 shows were set to debut or return on broadcast channels and streaming services. This year, the number has shrunk to 10. Although that number may be a little misleading with DC’s Legends of Tomorrow moving to a mid-season return and The CW’s Katy Keene — based on the Archie Co

虽然此前EA在电话会议上表示已经在国内找好手游的合作伙伴了,但国服具体什么时候上仍是未知之谜。想要率先体验Apex英雄手游的玩家,建议还是先完成本次菲律宾、印度地区B测资格申请。 Joel Meares for Rotten Tomatoes: This movie, Luca, just made me so happy to watch. It s like you re transported to Italy, it s got bright colors, it s got beautiful themes. And it feels like it s coming at just the right time, because it s making us happy as we emerge from this rough period. And then it s also about friends and reconnecting with friends and I feel like that s also something we re all going through. Do you feel like this is a really good movie for the current time?Jacob Tremblay: Yeah, for sure. You know, because of COVID and everything, people are always inside and to be able to [go out] I know this is more of a kid s movie I guess, but I think it will mean a lot to adults too to be able to remember a lot of childhood memories of having fun adventures in the summertime.Rotten Tomatoes: Yeah, absolutely. One thing that we saw in the trailer and is a big theme in the movie is this Silenzio Bruno concept – sort of putting down the doubter who lives inside you and saying, Shut up, I m going to go and have this fun and do this thing. Do you have Silenzio Bruno moments in your own life or in some of your past acting jobs where you re like, Don t be afraid, I ve got to go and do this ?Tremblay: Yeah. I guess that s a big part of acting for sure, you not being afraid to put yourself out there and do stuff. Because if you don t give it 100 percent, sometimes it ll fall flat. But I think another example of it for me is skiing. I know skiing season is over, but I m in Vancouver right now and skiing is amazing here in winter. So I did a lot of skiing this winter and I think sometimes you have to silence Bruno. Sometimes you can be scared to go out, go try a new jump or something. But yeah, I ve definitely silenced Bruno. And I think because of that, I think because of me silencing Bruno, I was able to get a lot better and I was able to have a lot of fun with it.Rotten Tomatoes: Are you on the black-diamonds?Tremblay: Yeah, I ve managed to do my fair share of blacks.Rotten Tomatoes: I d read somewhere else that you re a big Pixar fan and a big fan of Cars in particular. Why is that your favorite?Tremblay: I think it s because it has the most nostalgia for me because when I was little – or littler I guess – I would always have Lightning McQueen toys. And I even had this Power Wheels car that was Lightning McQueen. It looked like Lightning McQueen or, well, it was Lightning McQueen. Yeah. I would always drive that up and down the street and have a lot of fun with it.(Photo by © Pixar)Rotten Tomatoes: And are there other Pixar movies more recently that have stood out to you or really appealed? Tremblay: I think honestly Soul was really, really good. I really loved that one. And I don t know if this is really, really recent, but Cars 3, I guess. Because I guess it s like Cars 1 and 2 came out when I was at the toddler stage of my life. Cars 3 came out when I was kind of transitioning I guess. But yeah, to be able to see that, it was really cool. I really liked that movie.Rotten Tomatoes: In this movie, Luca is obsessed with Vespas. He dreams about a Vespa, it s his goal, that s what he wants, he gets slack-jawed whenever he sees one on the street. Is there a thing in your life, an item or something, that you ve been as obsessed about as Luca is with the Vespa?Tremblay: So, speaking of going outside, I just got a bike recently, a new bike. I always had a bike but I got a really nice BMX bike. So I ve been going out and teaching myself how to do tricks and stuff, and silencing Bruno on the way too. So yeah, I ve been able to do that riding around town. But another thing is I mean, this is very, very different, but I got a PS5 the other day, really, really recently. So I m really excited about that. But I think the bike that I just got definitely relates to Luca more than a video game console.Rotten Tomatoes: Luca is one of many animated films that you ve done and you ve got a few more coming up from what I ve read. What do you like about animation that you get to do differently than when you re doing something live-action?Tremblay: It s almost like a whole different set of acting skills. There are very, very talented voice actors and I had to learn a lot to do this film. I think one of the biggest things for me is learning how to transport a lot of energy into your voice. So yeah, I guess it was kind of a big learning curve to do that, because a lot of my acting roles have been these big dramatic roles where it has to be very real. And then for something as awesome as Luca I get to let go of all that and have fun with it. So it was really cool. And another thing about this movie is we were able to do a lot of improv. Enrico [Casarosa], the director, he s a really awesome director. He let me kind of go off script sometimes. It was really, really cool.(Photo by © Pixar)Rotten Tomatoes: And just finally, you have another voice piece coming up I m sure you can t say anything about it, but I have to ask. You re returning to the water as Flounder in the live-action The Little Mermaid. Are you excited for that role and what can you tell us about your Flounder, if anything?Tremblay: Yeah, I m really excited for that one. Just like Pixar and Cars, Little Mermaid is such a big part of my childhood. Especially because I have two sisters, so they d always put on Disney movies, even though I wanted to watch Indiana Jones. But they d always have those movies on. So yeah, I definitely have a lot of good memories from that movie. So it s very, very exciting to be a part of that. And even like when you go to Disneyland too, and there s rides. So cool, so cool.Rotten Tomatoes: Will your Flounder be any different from the Flounder in the original? Will it have a Jacob Tremblay spin?Tremblay: I guess you ll have to watch to find out. I think they did something really cool with the design for this fish.Luca is available on Disney+ from Friday June 18, 2021.Thumbnail image: Leon Bennett/WireImage, ©Lucasfilm Ltd., © Warner Brothers, © Buena Vista Pictures, © Warner Brothers, © ParamountOn an Apple device? This week s Ketchup brings you more headlines from the world of film development news, covering such titles as Dracula, Freedom Ride, UNO, and Wicked. This WEEK S TOP STORYNOMADLAND DIRECTOR CHLOE ZHAO TO REIMAGINE DRACULA AS FUTURISTIC, SCI-FI WESTERN(Photo by David Crotty/Getty Images)The Frances McDormand drama Nomadland (Certified Fresh at 95%) has otherwise been a leading contender for possible Academy Awards nominations. Director Chloé Zhao s next film will be Marvel Studios Eternals, which has been delayed a year by COVID-19 from November, 2020 to November 5, 2021, despite actually being filmed by Zhao concurrently with Nomadland in late 2018 and early 2019. Marvel has yet to release even a single still from Eternals, so we still don t know what that MCU movie might look like (other than that Kumail Nanjiani is ripped), but this week s news suggests that Universal Pictures has their sights on her. Chloé Zhao is attached to write, direct, and produce Universal Pictures latest reboot of their classic vampire franchise Dracula, which will reportedly be adapted as a futuristic, science fiction Western (we hope Zhao remembers to include vampires). In an interesting twist, Universal Pictures is also continuing to work with Blumhouse and director Karyn Kusama on another Dracula project (in which Sebastian Stan has expressed interest in starring), so that Universal now has two separate Dracula reboots in development at the same time.Other Top Headlines1. WICKED MOVIE FINALLY HAPPENING WITH CRAZY RICH ASIANS DIRECTOR (Photo by Priscilla Grant/Everett Collection)A recurring theme in The Weekly Ketchup involves reminders of exactly how long it takes some movies to finally get produced. The Wicked movie definitely falls into that territory, as Univeral Pictures has been developing an adaptation of the revisionist Wizard of Oz Broadway musical since 2009 (predating the similarly themed Oz: The Great and Powerful by four years). Repeatedly over the past decade, Universal Pictures has put Wicked on their release schedule, including most recently on December 20, 2019, which obviously didn t happen that specific slot went to another Broadway musical adaptation, Cats, instead. The Wicked movie seemed to hit a roadbump in October when Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Hours) dropped out as director, but the project is back up and active, with director Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians, Certified Fresh at 91%) now attached. Chu also has the Lin-Manuel Miranda musical In the Heights still awaiting release on June 18, 2021 after being pushed back from its original summer, 2020 release by the COVID-19 pandemic. He had recently become available after dropping out of directing the Willow sequel series  which also got back into development with a new director for Disney+.  There is no current release date for Wicked, but it is likely to be December of either 2022 or 2023, since that s the month Universal has previously slated Wicked for release.2. MICHELLE WILLIAMS TO CROON AS PEGGY LEE IN FEVER (Photo by Elizabeth Goodenough/Everett Collection)The impact of the popularity of rock and roll in the 1950s and 1960s, from Elvis Presley to the Beatles, was so strong that it s perhaps difficult for later generations to fully register that right before that all went down, it was still jazz, big bands, and the Rat Pack that dominated pop music. One such hit record from that period is jazz singer Peggy Lee s sultry cover of Fever in 1958. There has been talk about a Peggy Lee biopic for a while now (including from Billie Eilish, who might executive produce with her mother), and as it turns out, the star of Fever is going to be someone who also played 1950s sex idol Marilyn Monroe in My Week with Marilyn (Certified Fresh at 83%). Michelle Williams is now attached to reunite with director Todd Haynes (for whom she starred in both I m Not Here and Wonderstruck) as Peggy Lee in the biopic Fever, which MGM is now negotiating to distribute. Coincidentally, this news came just a week after Williams also signed to reunite with director Kelly Reichardt for a fourth film together, so this has been a busy fortnite for the Oscar-nominated actress. Fever is another movie that s been in development for some time, dating back at least to the early 2010s when Reese Witherspoon almost starred, until the death in 2012 of director Nora Ephron.3. WILL SMITH TO PLAY IT FAST LOOSE FOR DAVID LEITCH(Photo by Kristin Callahan/Everett Collection)Stunt coordinator-turned-action-director David Leitch (Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde, Fast Furious Presents: Hobbs Shaw) is currently busy at work with Brad Pitt on his latest film, Bullet Train, but this week, Leitch and his representation already began studio negotiations for a project with another big movie star, Will Smith. That movie is a drama called Fast Loose, and it is now the subject of a heated bidding war between several studios, including MGM, Paramount, Sony, Warner Bros., and unspecified streamers (probably flicks on the Net). You can read a more detailed premise here, but the gist is that Will Smith would play a crime lord who wakes up in Mexico with amnesia and discovers as he puts his memories back together that he had two lives one as a powerful crime kingpin, and another as an underccover CIA agent, but without confirmation of which of those is his true identity.4. FREEDOM RIDE TO TELL TRUE STORY OF CIVIL RIGHTS LEADER JOHN LEWIS (Photo by Jeff Hutchens/Getty Images)In a sad coincidence, civil rights leader and U.S. Representative John Lewis died on July 17, 2020, just two weeks after the day-and-date debut of the documentary John Lewis: Good Trouble (Certified Fresh at 96%). The true story of the Freedom Riders, of whom John Lewis was one, is now going to be adapted as the drama Freedom Ride to be directed by Deon Taylor (Black and Blue, Meet the Blacks). Freedom Ride is set to be produced by several collaborators who are now seeking a distributor with hopes for filming to start sometime this summer on location in Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL. No announcements have been made yet about whom might be cast as Lewis or any of the leaders of the Freedom Riders movement.5. FOURTH CLOVERFIELD MOVIE NOW BEING DEVELOPED(Photo by ©Paramount courtesy Everett Collection)The Cloverfield franchise, which currently consists of three films (Cloverfield, 10 Cloverfield Lane, and The Cloverfield Paradox), is somewhat unique in that each film has been produced in relative secrecy, to the point where it was unclear they were even part of a single franchise until very late in their post-production. Specifically, both 10 Cloverfield Lane and The Cloverfield Paradox began their developments as standalone science fiction movies (titled The Cellar and God Particle, respectively), which were then later retooled to become part of the larger, looser Cloverfield narrative. That s an important distinction to note, because this week s news is actually about a new Cloverfield project being produced by J.J. Abrams that is being built from the ground up specifically as a Cloverfield movie (and not as something else being retrofitted to fit the franchise). Having said that, as with its predecessors, we don t actually know anything else about this project, except that it will not be a found-footage movie (like the original Cloverfield).6. SHAZAM! STAR ZACHARY LEVI TO STAR IN HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON (Photo by Warner Bros. Pictures)Prior to 2019, Zachary Levi was probably best known for starring in the NBC spy drama Chuck, but that was before he starred in the DC Comics superhero movie Shazam! (Certified Fresh at 90%). Warner Bros. is committed to producing the sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods for release on June 2, 2023, but that isn t expected to start filming until late 2021 at the earliest. In the meantime, Levi has signed with Sony Pictures to star in a new project that is a live action adaptation of the classic children s book Harold and the Purple Crayon. The screenplay is currently being adapted by the writing team of David Guion and Michael Handelman, whose previous credits include Dinner for Schmucks (Rotten at 42%) and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (Rotten at 47%). There have reportedly been several attempts in the past to adapt Harold and the Purple Crayon as a movie, including a Sony Pictures animated film and a live-action version that would ve been directed by Spike Jonze (Her, Where the Wild Things Are).7. HOLLYWOOD JUMPS ON GAMESTOP MOVIE PROJECTS EN MASSE (Photo by Olivier Douliery/Getty Images)For context, it s important to note right at the beginning of this story that the GameStop short squeeze  happened just last week, and it was only on January 28th that Robinhood and other brokerages halted trading of GameStop stock. Since then, however, there are now at least five different feature film projects in development based on the event (three narrative, two documentaries). One of those projects is called The Antisocial Network, and MGM has already acquired the film rights to the book proposal of the same title by writer Ben Mezrich, whose book Bringing Down the House was the inspiration for the Kevin Spacey gambling movie 21 (Rotten at 36%). The second narrative project is an untitled movie being developed by Netflix, with Noah Centineo attached to star. The third narrative project comes from r/wallstreetbets founder Jaime Rogozinski, who has sold his life rights to Brett Ratner s RatPac Entertainment. Finally, there are the two documentary projects (that we know about), one of which is being funded by a Kickstarter campaign, and the other of which is being produced by director Jonah Tulis of the recent video game documentary Console Wars (Fresh at 83%).8. THIS WEEK IN REMAKES: BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY S, BUCK ROGERS, FATHER OF THE BRIDE (Photo by Everett Collection)After a couple of slow news weeks to kick off 2021, Hollywood seems like it s back to business as usual, but since we like to keep the Ketchup to an even 10 stories, here s a three-in-one about a handful of remakes. First off (and this one may be much bigger news as it progresses), Paramount Pictures is now in the midst of a legal battle with the estate of late writer Truman Capote over the studio s rights to remake the classic Audrey Hepburn film, Breakfast at Tiffany s (Certified Fresh at 89%). The original 1961 film hasn t aged well in at least one respect, while at the same time, it also soft-pedals Holly Golightly s profession in the novella upon which the film is based, both of which might be good reasons for a remake. Speaking of estates and legal issues, we now apparently have two competing Buck Rogers adaptations, one of which will be a George Clooney TV series while the other is a feature film being produced by Skydance Media in collaboration with the estate of Buck Rogers creator Philip Francis Nowlan. The last time Buck Rogers was on the big screen was all the way back in 1979, when Universal Pictures expanded the pilot episode of the Buck Rogers in the 25th Century TV series into a theatrically released motion picture. Finally, Warner Bros. has hired director Gaz Alazraki for their remake of Father of the Bride with a Cuban American twist following the previous versions starring both Spencer Tracy and Steve Martin.9. LIL YACHTY WANTS TO MAKE A HEIST COMEDY BASED ON UNO (YES, THE CARD GAME) (Photo by MediaNews Group/Boulder Daily Camera via Getty Images)There are certainly games and toys that could make for good source material for a movie, usually because there is a narrative quality to them. G.I. Joe and Transformers, for example, both came to movies after long runs as both animated TV shows and comic books. The card game UNO, though, not so much. Despite that, Mattel Films and rapper Lil Yachty are now collaborating on a movie adaptation indeed based on the UNO card game. The UNO movie will reportedly be a live-action heist comedy set within the underground hip hop world of Atlanta, with Lil Yachty expected to star. This might at least be good news for anyone who s ever wanted to make movies based on Go Fish, Old Maid, or Crazy Eights. On an Apple device? Follow Rotten Tomatoes on Apple News.亚博足球网址Is it possible that one of the year’s most scathing take-downs of cancel culture, inherent sexism, and generational inequality could be a Netflix comedy about the insular world of academia?Actress-writer Amanda Peet and Annie Julia Wyman created six-episode dark comedy The Chair, which stars Sandra Oh as Dr. Ji-Yoon Kim, the newly-appointed chair of an English department at a fictional liberal arts university.(Photo by Eliza Morse / Netflix)Gifted with a desk placard that reads “F—cker in Charge of You F—cking F—cks,” Ji-Yoon is a single mom and the first woman to hold the position. She’s attempting to find a work-life balance while dealing with budget cuts, her colleagues’ complaints about the students, the students’ complaints about her colleagues, and a best friend reeling from the loss of his wife.Peet told Rotten Tomatoes that, as an actress who is turning 50 next year, “I m really interested in the idea of my own irrelevance.”But, as far as subject matter for a series, Peet said she was interested in the fact that “everyone s talking about the humanities are dead” as well as the “intergenerational tension” where “you have these young idealists and then you have middle-aged folks like me whose idealism has tempered a little bit.”An example: Holland Taylor plays Joan Hambling, a tenured professor being passively aggressively pushed out of her job. Unlike her fellow senior academics who are male, her office has been moved to a dingy corner of the gym with no WiFi. When she goes to make a Title IX complaint, she dresses down the woman doing the intake form for wearing revealing shorts to a job where she has to take in very serious stories of assault and harassment.(Photo by Eliza Morse / Netflix)“I very much identified with her outrage,” Taylor said of playing Joan. “And I’m at an age where I would. As far as the sexism early in her career, she would never have been aware of it as that. That’s the point, kind of. It all snuck up on her with this realization while a younger character — a colleague, who is 30 — is well aware of that.”The crossroads that the school’s English department finds itself in is particularly laid out in the relationship dynamic between Nana Mensah’s professor Yaz McKay and Bob Balaban’s professor Elliot Rentz. She’s a rising star — not just in the department, but in the profession as a whole — who teaches packed classes with titles like Sex and the Novel and encourages Hamilton-like interpretations of Moby Dick. His lectures echo through his empty auditorium to the few nearly comatose students who bother to show up for class. He’s also her tenure advisor.Mensah consulted with two friends from this world — one a working academic; another who dropped out of her PhD program — and says she learned just how “political” and “cutthroat” this world is inside its ivy-coated towers. When asked about finding the humor in a story that could be construed as an attack on ageism, Balaban said, “It is somewhat funny to be wedded to the past and not be able to see the future.“It can be a tragic situation or it can be a slightly funny, odd situation, which I think is the is the pleasure of this particular series.,” he said, adding that “it s wildly up-to-date and current with what s going on and cancel culture is not a very popular subject, even though it s everywhere to be seen … It’s not a boring idea. That is actually grounds for real excitement, because it pits so many people against each other.”(Photo by Eliza Morse / Netflix)An embodiment of so many of these things is English professor, Bill Dobson (Jay Duplass). A beloved professor at the university going through his own emotional turmoil, he makes the mistake of speaking off the cuff during a lecture and punctuating his rant with a Sieg Heil — definitely not the best move to do in a room full of kids with smartphones.“I don t want to give my interpretation, because I think that moment is up to a lot of interpretation in terms of what was running through his brain at that point in time,” Duplass said of the Nazi salute scene. “But I definitely think a certain dose of white male privilege is also involved.”What the story of The Chair is not meant to be is a conversation on tokenism, Oh said. Ji-Yoon got the job based on her own merits and worked hard to achieve all she has done in her career.“I don t think that that s what we re doing,” Oh said. “I think, if anything, we re examining the struggles to actually make change. And that is extremely relevant. And we re doing it in a comedic way, where you re just really going through the day-to-day life of someone who s trying to make that change.”There is no news of a second season of The Chair yet, but Mensah argued that there’s no shortage of material still to explore.“It s such a rich world with such crazy personalities,” she said. “We can turn the page on this particular chapter and keep going and keep exploring.”The Chair is now streaming on Netflix.

It s worth noting that Angel of Darkness, while technically a sequel to the first season, works as its own standalone story. Brühl s Dr. Kreizler reunites with his rag-tag investigative cohorts Sara Howard (Dakota Fanning), now running her own detective agency, and New York Times journalist John Moore (Luke Evans) as they work to solve a string of baby murders amid a backdrop of political and cultural turmoil. The themes of women s rights, police brutality, and racism create a conflicted, yet timely, story here.Ahead of the show s return, Rotten Tomatoes spoke with Brühl about how his character has evolved since the series premiere, whether the show s disturbing subject matter gives him nightmares, how the themes explored in The Alienist: Angel of Darkness are relevant today, and if the COVID-19 shutdown delayed his work on The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.(Photo by TNT)Aaron Pruner for Rotten Tomatoes: This season focuses a lot on Sara Howard, while Kreizler is cultivating his own relationships. Has Kreizler, as a character, changed in how you interpret him since you first took on the role?Daniel Brühl: Knowing about Sara s psychological skills, Laszlo Kreizler is eventually willing to share power and to give in and to let Sarah Howard be in charge of that new mystery and of that new case. He becomes, emotionally, a more open-minded man thanks to the friendship with Sara and John and eventually even finds a kindred spirit, someone who he finds very fascinating. It s so interesting because my wife is an alienist in real life. And she told me that many times the most brilliant psychologists you know, become very nervous when they have to deal with, you know, their own introspection and their own inner life. So they may be brilliant in, you know, analyzing their environment, and yet, they have problems in expressing what they are going through. The theme of child murder continues in season 2. Is it tough to separate yourself from the dark subject matter of the show?Brühl: It didn t affect me that much when we were shooting the actual show, but watching it now gives me nightmares. I m the father of a little boy and expecting my second baby to arrive soon. The fact that this show this time around deals more with motherhood and fatherhood, respectively, felt more universal. It was also interesting to realize how engaged my wife was when she watched the show. She said that it resonated more with her than the first season.(Photo by Nelly Kiss/TNT)This is a period piece, yet the issues explored in the series continue to feel quite timely — women s rights, sensationalism in the news, police corruption, income inequality, and racism. What message are you hoping viewers will take away from watching?Brühl: It is very sad to see how long it takes for mankind to really make a change. It s funny how history goes in waves. I wouldn t say that it always goes in the wrong direction. Sometimes we advance, sometimes we evolve, and then, sometimes we go three steps back. So it is sadly fascinating to see that a story set in 1897 and a book written about that period that was published in the 1990s still feels so current. And what the story tells us is that it always takes a couple of courageous liberal modern minds to make a change. Unfortunately, mankind needs to have the worst things happen in order to move on. So the eruption that, fortunately, we witness these days internationally, due to the things that happened in the U.S., gives me a bit of optimism, because that avalanche, that eruption, and that message that racism has to stop, is being heard loudly and clearly at the moment. I hope that, finally, we will change and, hopefully, carry on doing so. We always have to hope that we will learn something from history.

This October, Tom Hardy returns to the big screen as Eddie Brock in Venom: Let There Be Carnage, a sequel to the smash hit film in which we first met the dogged journalist and his foul-mouthed (and very hungry) symbiote. The new film is directed by Andy Serkis and co-stars Woody Harrelson as Carnage, the fan-favorite villain teased at the end of the original film.Ahead of the movie’s release, Rotten Tomatoes correspondent Erik Davis spoke with Serkis, Hardy, Harrelson, and Naomie Harris (who plays another villain, Shriek) about what’s in store for audiences in the “lean and mean” sequel, the developing bromance between Brock and Venom, and what finally drew Harrelson to the Marvel family.Plus, Hardy – as star and producer – reveals he’s “100%” in on crossover movies and the multi-verse… Hear that, Mr. Holland?Venom: Let There Be Carnage is in theaters from Friday October 1, 2021.On an Apple device?
American Gods executive producer–author promises transcendent season 2, Outlander season 5 update, Starz introduces racy new millennial sex comedy, the Crawleys get supersized in Downton Abbey movie, and more.TOP STORYCaitriona Balfe s Claire Fraser Will Have a New Role in Outlander Season 5(Photo by Starz)Caitriona Balfe is just weeks away from filming season 5 of Outlander. Since season 4 used elements from the fourth and fifth books in the series, it sounds like season 5 will already hit book six, A Breath of Snow and Ashes, which leads up to 1776 in North Carolina — quite a significant year in American history. Before heading off to film, Balfe told Rotten Tomatoes a few more details about about Claire Fraser s journey in the new season.“Last season, her doctor side in some ways is put to one side,” Balfe said. “We got to see little glimpses of it. I think now that they’re going to settled in Fraser’s Ridge, it’s a real opportunity to establish herself in getting that kind of professional side of her life back in an order that is very fulfilling for her. So I think that’s exciting too.”The Fraser clan is growing in season 5 as Brianna (Sophie Skelton) has a baby whose health complications may require a return to the present for medical care.“[Claire s] a grandmother this season, which I think is a really interesting time in a woman’s life,” Balfe said. “It’s great to be able to explore that and have an extended family be around and also to deepen this marriage and this relationship in new ways because their life now is very new. This is a new role they’re taking on. It’s a new place and they’ve settled into this new community so I think it’s really interesting.”The season will cover a fraught time for both the country and the Fraser family, as Claire and her beloved, Jamie (Sam Heughan), are on the front lines of the birth of America as well as their grandchild.“I think there’s a lot of interesting things that we’re going to get to explore in terms of family, in terms of loyalties, especially in politics,” Balfe said. “It’s very new to me, all of this kind of time in American history. To understand the intricacies of what was going on in America in that time during its infancy, the people that were coming into the country, who their allegiances lay with. It’s all really interesting stuff, and it’s very new so that makes it really exciting.”Despite Behind-the-Scenes Drama, American Gods Season 2 Feels Like the Same Show The drama behind the scenes of Starz s American Gods has been well-documented — original showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green departed after writing about half the scripts for season 2, with Jesse Alexander appointed as new showrunner two months later — but creator (and book author) Neil Gaiman told reporters that viewers shouldn t notice any difference in quality between the two seasons. I was on the show before Bryan and Michael came on as showrunners; I got to watch that being made, he said. I got to watch them leave and Jesse come on and take season 2. From my perspective, the thing that has been made as season 2 feels like the same show that we had for season 1. Part of that is because we have amazing actors, part of that is because a lot of the people didn t change.(Photo by Starz) It still looks and feels like American Gods, he continued.  It s definitely taken a while to get season 2 out, but it takes a while to get good things made and I think we d all rather have it good than have it quicker — although we d rather have it quicker too. The Crawleys Turn Volume to 11 on Downton Abbey Movie(Photo by Nick Briggs/Carnival Film & Television Limited 2014)The Downton Abbey movie hits theaters on September 20, and its stars are still keeping as frustratingly tight-lipped as ever when it comes to discussing the upcoming film. I don t even know what I can tell you, star Laura Carmichael (a.k.a. Edith Crawley) told USA Today and a small group of reporters on Tuesday. What can I remember has been released? There’s some new exciting people, which was dreamy. New cast members which you’ll love and enjoy. Unfortunately, that s just about all Carmichael, who next stars in Starz s drama The Spanish Princess, could say about what happens, though she did reveal that she thinks everyone will be pleased that we’ve upped the ante. Turned the volume up. Whether it s the end of the road for the Crawleys and their staff is something only creator Julian Fellowes can address. I can’t speak for other people, Carmichael said. But I can say we all had a dreamy time, it was lush. SpongeBob SquarePants Turns 20SpongeBob SquarePants celebrates its 20th birthday this summer. Like other beloved animated series (including The Simpsons and Family Guy), the series has managed to remain in the zeitgeist for multiple decades (though SpongeBob is a show both kids and adults can enjoy together). How, exactly, has the Nickelodeon series managed to remain so topical? Man, that’s the million-dollar question, said Bill Fagerbakke, who voices SpongeBob s pal Patrick Star. I don’t know if there’s a formula. There’s something mercurial and enigmatic about it. And I’ve come to think it’s a magical combination of shapes, colors, and sounds. We don’t know! Rodger Bumpass, who voices SpongeBob s frenemy Squidward, likens the series to Looney Tunes. They’re both short cartoons, but different ages of people and viewers get different things. Little kids get something out of it cause it’s colorful and it’s animated. And then the little older guys get a little bit more stuff out of it, and adults get something out of it too. And funny is funny, so I think that’s one of the reasons it has struck a chord, Bumpass said.SpongeBob himself, a.k.a. Tom Kenny, thinks some of the magic of his character comes from the fact that everyone wants to root for him and he s avoided any type of controversy. SpongeBob really does seem to have this charmed life and this magic power where people, you know, they didn’t just like it a little bit. They started to really like it and love it, and it found its way into the fabric of people’s lives, and it kept finding new life in new ways like memes and things like that, Kenny said. And even on the couple of occasions where there’s been something a little controversial that’s happened, SpongeBob still winds up winning. SpongeBob still winds up on top. For example, the latest Super Bowl halftime show was a tad controversial, but people didn t take any umbrage with the fact that SpongeBob made an appearance.Said Kenny, People get mad at the NFL. They don’t get mad at SpongeBob. You know what I mean? They don’t hate on SpongeBob. They hate on Maroon 5. The Rook EP Explains Why British People Are Good at Spy DramasThe new Starz drama The Rook, based on the book of the same name by Daniel O Malley, is both a tense British spy thriller and a supernatural drama. When Myfanwy Thomas (Emma Greenwell) wakes up in the rain next to London s Millennium Bridge, she can t remember who she is or how she wound up next to a pile of dead bodies. But she soon learns that she s a high-ranking official in the Checquy, a secret organization involving people with paranormal abilities. The London-set series was run by two American showrunners, Lisa Zerling and Karyn Usher, though it stars a mostly British cast (save for Olivia Munn). British executive producer Stephen Garrett said the series works because his people are experts in the spy genre. The Rook denotes [Myfanwy s] rank in the organization, and clearly there are bishops and queens who are higher than her, but I think what drew us all to this is it s a spy show with supernatural elements. The great thing about spy shows, and why the British are good at them, [is because] we re naturally duplicitous, we re very good at lying, and we love secrets, Garrett joked. So if you re a spy you can t tell your friends or your loved ones what it is you do, and I think if you have supernatural powers, you can t tell your loved ones what it is you have. So you have secrets to the power of 10, and that s just a heady mix for a great drama. Maybe Don t Watch the Racy Now Apocalypse With Your Parents(Photo by Starz)Gregg Araki s new Starz drama, Now Apocalypse, is a sex-infused, surreal adventure about stoner twentysomethings navigating the dating world and Los Angeles in general. Ulysses (Avan Jogia) also starts having premonitory dreams, causing him to wonder if there s a dark conspiracy going on around him or he s just smoking too much weed. There s a lot of nudity and sex, but star Jogia told reporters that he thinks the show will attract a multi-generational audience. As he pointed out, the older generation, quote unquote, grew up during sex lib. But if you re thinking about watching the show with your parents, whether that s a good decision or not really depends on how sexually liberated you and your parents are. The show sounds very punk rock, and attuned toward sex and sexuality, Araki said. We have BDSM, and we have water sports, and we have a sex club and a sex orgy, and it s like Whoa, that show sounds nuts. But when I watched it for the first time, there s a real sweetness to it. And this is a testament to the best cast in the whole universe — they really imbue these characters with such vanity and such authenticity. The whole show is grounded in these characters. They re super-sweet and super lovable. It s really about these characters and what they re going through. It s a lot, he admitted — especially in a show he described as Girls, Sex and the City meets Twin Peaks with an alien — but he’s not including those moments for shock value. I m not interested in titillation or making porn, Araki said. It s really about those moments of character truth, and I think that s the strongest thing about the show. Dennis Quaid Heads to NetflixNetflix has added Dennis Quaid to its ever-expanding roster of talent. The veteran actor is set to star in a new comedy series from Everybody Loves Raymond writer Tucker Cawley called Merry Happy Whatever. The series, according to Netflix, takes place in the weeks around Christmas as a father is thrown for a loop when his youngest daughter comes home for Christmas with a new boyfriend. Ghcxuf sly released two short teasers ( Moiraine and Lan ), they didn t show us a trailer, but Amazon s Comic-Con@Home panel did reveal the first poster, that came with the promise of a premiere date sometime in November 2021.FRIDAY 3 P.M. CHECK OUT THE NOT-SO-SPOOKY BLOOPER REEL FROM THE FEAR STREET TRILOGY Netflix by all accounts has found success through their decision to pick up the Fear Street trilogy — which are all Certified Fresh at 84% and up — from 20th Century Studios after that company decided to hold back their original plans for a 2020 release because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The movies are obviously intended to be scary, but the blooper reel fans got to see during the Netflix Geeked: Fear Street Trilogy panel not so much.FRIDAY 3 P.M. BATMAN: THE LONG HALLOWEEN, PART TWO TO FEATURE SOME CHANGES FROM COMIC The problem with adapting any sort of mystery book to movies or TV is that anyone who s read the book then might already know how everything will be revolved in the screen version. That s especially true if the source material came out some 25 years ago as the original Batman: The Long Halloween comics did. The story is pretty massive (stretched across an entire year of various holidays), so the animated adaptation was split into two movies. Part One came out last month, and Part Two, premiering on Tuesday, July 27, was discussed at a panel this week, including the not-surprising revelations that some elements were changed from the comics.FRIDAY 5 P.M. CYBERPUNK CLASSIC LIVES ON AS BLADE RUNNER: BLACK LOTUS HBO Plus neighbors Adult Swim and Crunchyroll are teaming up for a 13-episode Blade Runner spinoff series called Blade Runner: Black Lotus, and the first trailer premiered at its Comic-Con@Home panel this week. Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist, Game of Thrones) voices a replicant named Elle whose goals are, of course, shrouded in mystery.SATURDAY 1 P.M. THE SIMPSONS STILL CHUGGING ALONG INTO SEASON 33The Simpsons has been on the air longer than many of its current fans have even been alive, which we re guessing just on the math that there have be fans who are under 33. Not only is The Simpsons indeed coming back for its 33rd season, but the premiere episode will be a musical that was described in the panel as like a Broadway musical of an episode with wall to wall music, with Kristen Bell (Frozen) providing Marge Simpson s singing voice. This year s Treehouse of Terror episode will also be an expanded one that, based on its length (five stories instead of three) sounds like it might be an hour-long special.SATURDAY 1 P.M. AND 3 P.M. ALL THINGS THE WALKING DEADAMC had so much to reveal about three different Walking Dead panels that they spread it out around two Comic-Con@Home panels. Let s start off with the original show (watch the panel), which will finally come to its conclusion with season 11, which will get its start on AMC+ on August 15, 2021. The first spinoff series Fear the Walking Dead (watch the panel) also is coming back soon for its seventh season, which will premiere on October 17, 2021. Finally, there is also The Walking Dead: World Beyond (watch the panel), which will debut its second and final season on October 3, 2021.SATURDAY 5 P.M. LUCIFER TO COME TO ITS HELLISH END IN SEPTEMBERNetflix is now well into production on its long-in-development adaptation of Neil Gaiman s The Sandman, and at the same time, Netflix is also preparing to wrap up another Gaiman adaptation series, Lucifer. At the show s panel this weekend, Netflix revealed that the sixth and final season will premiere on September 10, 2021.SUNDAY 10 A.M. THIRTEENTH DOCTOR RETURNS FOR DOCTOR WHO SEASON 13Your favorite show may have been a long time (The Simpsons, hold our beer), but pretty much no one beats the nearly 60-year legacy of Doctor Who (watch the panel) — just never mind that gap before the reboot or that the new season is called the thirteenth. That number 13 comes into play twice with this week s teaser trailer, as Jodie Whittaker’s incarnation is the 13th form of The Doctor. Especially watch out for the new supporting character played by Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm from Game of Thrones).SUNDAY 11 A.M. GEORGE A. ROMERO S DAY OF THE DEAD TO LIVE ON AS SYFY SERIESSome 50-plus years after Night of the Living Dead, the zombie genre that George A. Romero reinvented is still very much still undead, and that s even after all three films of his original trilogy have been remade at least once, including Dawn of the Dead in 2004 and Day of the Dead in 2008, both featuring Ving Rhames. SYFY is skipping over the mall-set Dawn of the Dead and jumping straight to the military bunker setting of Day of the Dead with their new series (watch the panel), which is expected to premiere sometime in October before Halloween.SUNDAY NOON DC S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW SEVENTH SEASON TRAILERWarner Bros and DC Comics are now focusing many of their new series projects on the HBO Max streaming service, but most of the shows on The CW continue to chug along. That includes the comedic time traveling adventure DC s Legends of Tomorrow, which is set to return for its seventh season on August 8, 2021. The show s Comic-Con@Home panel revealed several new details about the next season, including the first trailer ( https://collider.com/legends-of-tomorrow-season-6-comic-con-trailer-clue-episode/).SUNDAY 1 P.M. DEXTER TO BE REVIVED AS DEXTER: NEW BLOODThe Showtime drama Dexter, starring Michael C. Hall as the titular serial killer–vigilante, came to its original end in 2013, after earning four Emmy Awards (out of 24 nominations). Hall returns as Dexter Morgan in Dexter: New Blood, which will be set 10 years after his disappearance, with Dexter living quietly in rural New York under a new identity. Dexter: New Blood premieres on Showtime on November 7, 2021.SUNDAY 2 P.M. ARMY OF THE DEAD PREQUEL ARMY OF THIEVES TRAILERA year ago, all of the buzz around director Zack Snyder went towards the demand for his Zack Snyder s Justice League to finally be released, but following the March release of the original director s cut, the focus has since switched to his zombie movie Army of the Dead, and the growing franchise around it. The next entry we will see is a prequel film called Army of Thieves (directed by its star Matthias Schweighöfer), and we got our first trailer during its Comic-Con@Home panel.SUNDAY 4 P.M. CHILD S PLAY SPINOFF CHUCKY SERIESAlthough the original 1988 horror movie Child s Play was produced for just million, it was such a success that the Chucky franchise (watch the panel) went on to have a total of eight feature films (and counting), as well as an upcoming SYFY spinoff series. SYFY and USA Network revealed the first Chucky trailer this week, which included the series premiere date announcement: October 12, 2021.SUNDAY 5 P.M. DELAYED BOB S BURGERS MOVIE STILL COMINGA number of movies finally being released in 2021 were originally scheduled for release in 2020, but were delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Having said that, there are also movies that were originally scheduled for last year that had their release dates delayed, and which have not yet been rescheduled. One such title is the Bob s Burgers movie (based on the FOX animated TV series), which was first announced in 2017 as being scheduled for July 17, 2020. At one of the last panels of Comic-Con@Home, the showrunners confirmed that the movie is still indeed planned for a theatrical release, but that, we re not really in a hurry to be in theaters until it s really come back. Obviously, none of us know for sure when that will be.On an Apple device? Follow Rotten Tomatoes on Apple News. 😈😈

亚博足球网址 (Photo by Paramount /Courtesy Everett Collection)All Mission: Impossible Movies, Ranked By Tomatometer Hey, Tom. Paramount here. Yes, the studio. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to create a new summer franchise out of a 30-year-old TV show, and have it virtually improve with each sequel over 20 years And so Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt has halo-jumped, rock-climbed, motorcycle-duelled, and face mask-revealed his way across dozens of countries to unravel all manner of world threats in the Mission: Impossible movies. He s had help along the way, featuring a cast of series veterans, like Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg, and occasional players like Jeremy Renner and Paula Patton. Hunt hasn t had too much help from the IMF, though, considering how many times they think their star employee has gone rogue.A trademark for most of Mission: Impossible s lifespan was bringing in a new director for each entry, ranging from John Woo to Brad Bird to Brian De Palma, giving each entry a unique spin. But Since Rogue Nation, Cruise (who also produces) has found a perfect collaborator in Christopher McQuarrie. He was the first to direct two M:Is in a row, with Fallout raking in the series best box office and critical marks. McQuarrie will direct the next two films, both shooting concurrently, scheduled for May 27, 2022 and July 7, 2023.Before we see what death-defying hijinks they get into next (we don t think Ethan s been to the moon yet), we re ranking all Mission: Impossible movies by Tomatometer!

Waititi s Jojo Rabbit follows a Hitler-obsessed 10-year-old boy in World War II Germany who discovers a monster in the attic; while in The Lighthouse Pattinson and Dafoe battle each other and the elements while trapped in an eerie 19th-century lighthouse that may do more than act as a beacon for vessels on the open sea. In our indie trailer section this week we have new clips from a trio of Oscar hopefuls featuring the likes of Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson, Margot Robbie, Nicole Kidman, and Charlize Theron.

ers. The pandemic matters. While we can probably expect another strongly-worded “I told you so” from the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO) this week, the numbers do not lie. Streaming or not, since the end of June, when F9 opened, only two films have grossed more than 2.5 times its opening weekend: The Boss Baby: Family Business (3.42x), which was also streaming for free on Peacock, and The Forever Purge (3.47x), which was exclusively in theaters. Here is a breakdown of the rest.THEATER EXCLUSIVEF9 (2.43 / 7 weeks)Old (2.27 / 3 weeks)Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins (1.94 / 3 weeks)Escape Room: Tournament of Champions (2.51 / 4 weeks)The Green Knight (1.77 / 2 weeks)Stillwater (1.92 / 2 weeks)DISNEY PREMIER ACCESSBlack Widow (2.16 / 5 weeks)Jungle Cruise (1.86 / 2 weeks)HBO MAX (SINCE GODZILLA VS. KONG)Mortal Kombat (1.81)Those Who Wish Me Dead (2.59)The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2.70)In the Heights (2.58)Space Jam: A New Legacy (2.08 / 4 weeks)But let’s not let the HBO Max decision off the hook either. Repeat business seems to be at a stand still until we get a true all-clear on COVID and Delta, and streaming only doubles down on that. So the opening weekend is more crucial than ever before. The Suicide Squad is just the seventh film during this time to start with over million, joining HBO Max compatriots Godzilla vs. Kong and Space Jam: A New Legacy. The former stretched its legs through a still-wide open marketplace while vaccine hope was at its peak; the latter dropped like a stone and may end up with the worst multiple for a family film this year.We could just drop all the variables and statistics and know that in our hearts, Gunn’s film goes nowhere south of million in normal times. And that is as conservative as it gets. The top “R”-rated opening in August is still Straight Outta Compton, with .2 million, so it s hard to even suggest that a high-profile DC film whose almost universally-maligned “PG-13” effort is the highest opening weekend ever in August with 3.68 million wouldn t make  million or more. Not when both Deadpools opened to over 5 million, Joker to over million, and Logan with .4 million. The only thing we know for sure is that this year, in our current circumstances, The Suicide Squad will not be joining the 0 million club and the odds are very much in favor that nothing from the rest of Warner Brothers lineup for 2021 will be invited in either. The Top Ten And Beyond: Jungle Cruise Sailing Towards 0 Million Last week’s no. 1 film is showing some potential to eventually join the 0 million club. Jungle Cruise fell 55% to .7 million this weekend. In this environment that actually constitutes a victory given that it is the lowest drop for a no. 1 film in its second weekend since Spiral fell 47.5% from a meager start of .7 million. That puts Jungle’s 10-day toll at million, which is ahead of Godzilla vs. Kong’s .05 million at 10 days, though with that film’s Wednesday opening it only had four weekend days to accumulate that total compared to Jungle’s six. Nevertheless, it is still a better second weekend than GvK’s .88 million, so we’ll give Jungle Cruise a puncher’s chance of breaking that ceiling.M. Night Shyamalan’s Old fell back just a single spot for the third straight week. It is right in line with The Forever Purge’s third weekend of .1 million. Overall, it is still ahead of that film’s pace by almost million, so look for Old’s final tally to be in the range of million, just getting over Lady in the Water’s total and avoiding being the lowest-grossing film of Shyamalan’s post-Sixth Sense career. Black Widow dropped to fourth place with million, which is the third-best fifth weekend this year behind A Quiet Place Part II (.19 million) and F9 (.82 million). Still, it did pass F9 this week and now certainly has a lock to claim the crown of summer champion, not to mention fairly decent odds to compete for the highest-grossing film of the year, with possibly No Time to Die and Spider-Man: No Way Home as its biggest challengers.(Photo by © A24)Amongst last weekend’s adult entries, Stillwater dropped 45% to .86 million and stands total at million. It looks like Focus Features, which has put every one of its 13 films into theaters since Kajillionaire last September, is going to have its highest-grossing film of the pandemic – but just its second to pass million and one which is unlikely to hit million. The Green Knight is just A24’s third theatrical release during this time and their numbers have actually gone up. From Oscar nominee Minari (.1 million) to Zola (.1 million) and now to David Lowery’s film (the first in the company s history to start in third place), which has earned million so far.On The Vine: A Background Player and the Queen of SoulThings get a little more crowded in theaters next week. Delayed multiple times since last year, audiences can finally see Ryan Reynolds as a video game character trying to escape in Free Guy (which critics are digging). More folks are trying to rob Stephen Lang’s abusive blind guy in Don’t Breathe 2, and Jennifer Hudson takes on the role of Aretha Franklin in the biopic, Respect. All three films will be exclusive to theaters.Full List of Box Office Results: August 6-8, 2021

亚博足球网址 While COVID-19 continues to impact the TV industry in big ways, talk show hosts try to keep giving us things to laugh about (including a brief comeback from Rosie O Donnell to help her fellow entertainers), Netflix gives us a new way to be socially less distant, and more in the week s top TV news.TOP STORYNetflix Party Makes It Possible to Have a Group Bingewatch (and Not Just a Virtual One)(Photo by Chris Haston/NBCU Photo Bank/NBCUniversal via Getty Images via Getty Images)Binge-watching episodes of The Office for the 37th time just got more fun. Thanks to a new Google Chrome extension called Netflix Party (available here), you can have movie nights and group TV viewing parties of your favorite Netflix programming. And not only does the extension allow you to watch programming at the same time on your computers, but Netflix Party also features a chat room, so you can quote Michael Scott’s wackiest words to each other, or debate whether or not “Scott’s Tots” is the worst Office episode of all time. We kid. There’s no debate. It is absolutely the worst Office episode of all time.Hopefully you stashed away plenty of snack fare, because COVID-19 social distancing just got the tiniest bit more bearable.Update: Netflix also announced that the company has created a 0 million emergency support fund for entertainment industry workers. Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said in a statement:The Covid-19 crisis is devastating for many industries, including the creative community. Almost all television and film production has now ceased globally leaving hundreds of thousands of crew and cast without jobs. These include electricians, carpenters, drivers, hair and makeup artists and more, many of whom are paid hourly wages and work on a project-to-project basis. This community has supported Netflix through the good times, and we want to help them through these hard times, especially while governments are still figuring out what economic support they will provide. So we’ve created a 0 million fund to help with hardship in the creative community. Most of the fund will go towards support for the hardest hit workers on our own productions around the world. We’re in the process of working out exactly what this means, production by production. This is in addition to the two weeks pay we’ve already committed to the crew and cast on productions we were forced to suspend last week.Beyond helping workers on our own productions, we also want to support the broader film and television industry. So million of the fund will go to third parties and non-profits providing emergency relief to out-of-work crew and cast in the countries where we have a large production base.Netflix will provide million each to the SAG-AFTRA Covid-19 Disaster Fund, the Motion Picture and Television Fund, and the Actors Fund Emergency Assistance in the U.S., and million between the AFC and Fondation des Artistes. Additional allocations worldwide will be announced next week.Lord of the Rings, The Witcher Among the Latest Coronavirus-Related Production HaltsAmazon Prime s The Lord of the Rings series was shut down March 16, according to a memo acquired by The New Zealand Herald. This is done in an environment where travel restrictions directed at the control of Covid-19 are issued daily by New Zealand and most other countries we are doing this to minimise stress on the resources and infrastructures around us by doing our part to reduce population density in our communities and daily activities, in efforts to help reduce the spread of the virus, the memo read in part.Netflix similarly shut down production on season 2 of The Witcher for two weeks, Deadline reported, noting that crew will continue to be paid during the hiatus. The show is filmed around 40 miles west of London at Arborfield Studios. Meanwhile, another Netflix production, The Crown was so near completion on season 4 that filming continued this week; though the production wrapped early, according to EW.Plus, that Friends reunion special that was going to be a highlight of HBO Max’s debut month in May might have to wait. THR.com reports the show, which will feature Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer getting together for an unscripted celebration of the 10-season sitcom, was scheduled to tape next week, but now could be pushed off for a May tape date, because of coronavirus concerns. HBO Max will be the streaming home for the series when it launches. In other coronavirus-related TV rescheduling news:American Idol suspended production and sent contestants home for now.
