暴ol采用百度引擎1(Baidu 6)Marvel Studios released a second full trailer for April’s Avengers: Endgame on Thursday. And now that Captain Marvel is out in theaters, it finally establishes Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) will be part of the roster as they take the fight back to Thanos (Josh Brolin). But as with so much of the Endgame publicity, it plays coy with the actual plot. For instance: we assume the mission takes them to that garden planet Thanos relaxes on at the end of Avengers: Infinity War. It is a solid guess based on shots in previous trailers and the later part of Marvel Comics’ The Infinity Gauntlet, but we don’t really know that it is part of “whatever it takes” to win the day. Some believe the Avengers will go elsewhere and even elsewhen to undo the Mad Titan s brutal Snap.Nonetheless, the trailer offers a few more clues to the film’s overall shape. Here are five of the things we gleaned from it.Tony Pulls Off One More Surprise(Photo by Marvel Studios)Despite both long-form trailers opening with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) recording a final account to Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), Tony can be spotted in the group shot toward the end – which features the team in Avengers-branded uniforms reported to allow them access to the Quantum Realm. Since that slow-motion group walk, featured in some form during every Endgame trailer (more on this later), takes place at the Avengers HQ, this means Tony makes it back to Earth before the final act of the film. We’re going to assume the Benatar (the Guardians of the Galaxy s ship) makes its way to Earth in that scene from the “Big Game Ad” in which Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), and James Rhodes (Don Cheadle) look up at something mysterious. At the time, we thought Carol might be assisting the ship in landing, but eagle-eyed fans online noticed a mysterious gap in the composition between Rhodey and Bruce which could be Carol erased from the ad to conceal her presence in the film. With that in mind, we’re guessing either Thor (Chris Hemsworth) found them or Tony really did pull off one more surprise.Of course, there’s always the possibility the message will be delivered to Pepper after the Avengers complete their endgame. But we really don’t want to think about that yet.The Past Matters(Photo by Marvel Studios)The trailer opens with a very pointed reminder that Tony built the first Iron Man suit from scraps in a cave. It moves on to remind the audience of early moments from Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor. Rumors suggest time travel will help the Avengers defeat Thanos, so these shots may support that plot thread. Alternatively, the trailer could be setting up a big sacrifice as the three original Avengers with solo movies face down their endgame. It is no secret that Downey, Hemsworth, and Evans plan to walk away from the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the film makes its worldwide debut, but will their time within the studio s overarching story really end with their characters boldly dying to save the universe? That’s kind of epic, but we want more Thor after Thor: Ragnarok reset his tone.Scott’s Escape From The Quantum Realm May Be Ill-Timed(Photo by Marvel Studios)One thing we still don’t know about the film is just how much time has passed since the final moments of Infinity War and Endgame. According to some reports, it could be years. We’ve always subscribed to the thought that Endgame takes place a year later – more or less in real time with our world. There’s a nice extra-cinematic symmetry to that. But no matter how long the interval, it is clear Scott Lang’s (Paul Rudd) escape from the Quantum Realm will see him facing down the grim new reality without the Pym clan to explain it. Y know, since they all turned to ash in the Snap. The one featured shot of him in the new trailer sees him reacting to missing posters in the wake of the Snap; which means he will no doubt determine his family s survival before making his way to Avengers HQ. Some believe his ability to access the Quantum Realm will offer the Avengers a time travel portal, but in this scene, it is clear Scott has no ability to muck with time and must endure the pain of the Snap. But considering our next topic, Scott may join the Avengers sooner rather than later.Black Widow’s Going Back To Red(Photo by Marvel Studios)With all all the talk about time travel and the gap between the two films, it’s time to talk about Natasha Romanoff’s hair. That might seem silly, but the new trailer features Nat with a variety of styles, lengths and colors. And if anything marks the progression of time within the film, it is the return of the classic Black Widow look. But tracking that progression is not easy within the context of the second trailer. Going from Black Widow’s last appearance in it – when Thor meets Carol – her hair is short and blond as seen in Infinity War. In her first appearance in the trailer, in which she reconnects with Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) it seems to be longer, but still blond. Then, when Cap invokes the “not us” phrase from the Big Game ad, it’s clear she’s letting the blond grow out. When we see her again, suited up aboard a ship we presume is the Benatar, there are only a few streaks of blond remaining in her braided hair. During the hero walk, her hair is also predominate red, but we also see her with blond hair in the firing range sequence from the earlier trailers. Although, it does appear to be the length from the Clint Barton scene. Clearly, the film covers more time than we anticipated. Perhaps it covers the entire gap year and possibly more. It may also track the changes to the timeline should time travel come into play.Going back to Scott for a second, we noticed Nat’s hair is short in the Scott Lang stinger from the first trailer. If we assume her hair will be longer and red by the time the Avengers are ready for Thanos, Scott’s Quantum Realm exile following the Ant-Man and the Wasp stinger scene may not be that long at all. Perhaps his apparent mastery of the Quantum Realm will be a key part of the plan.Marvel went out of its way to hide Nat’s changing hairstyles until this trailer – we even suspect her key moment with Cap toward the end of the first trailer was altered to maintain her Infinity War hairstyle so giving it away now is rather telling. The Hero Walk Evolved(Photo by Marvel Studios)Also, while double-checking Black Widow’s appearances in the previous trailer and the Big Game ad, we noticed the hero walk featured in the new trailer and the TV ad actually appears in the first trailer as a completely empty Avengers HQ hangar bay. The addition of people across the first trailer, the Big Game Ad, and the second trailer feels as purposeful as revealing Nat’s hair color in the new trailer. The empty shot also occurs once more in this new preview. But in lieu of cutting to the profile shot of the group in the Big Game Ad, we see close-ups of the assembled Avengers in their coordinated uniforms. Cap leads the charge with Tony, Scott, Nebula (Karen Gillan), and Nat closely behind. Clint can also be seen alongside Rhodey; whose War Marchine armor has been painted to match the white-grey-red Avengers color scheme. In the Big Game version, the silhouettes include Cap, Scott, Nat (with the shorter hairstyle), Rocket (Bradley Cooper), Clint, Rhodey, and one completely mysterious shadow we’re going to assume is either Carol or Thor. Even though this scene keeps getting altered with each trailer, we’re going to assume this is nearly the full complement of heroes heading out into space to fight Thanos.(Photo by Marvel Studios)Of course, that leaves a few questions. For one, Bruce is notably absent from every version of the hero walk. Where is he? He could always be the mysterious shadow behind Rhodey. It is also possible Bruce’s arc needs to be obscured for reasons we will discover next month. Perhaps the heroes missing from the most recent version of the slo-mo walk are part of a frontal assault with a heavy-hitter team like Thor, Carol, and the Hulk, this is a possibility while the others go back in time to set up the tools necessary to undo the Snap.We also wonder why the team lacks for Wakandan representation. That nation definitely needs to repay Thanos for his “kindness,” and at least one capable Wakandan fighter survived the Snap. There’s still the question of Shuri’s (Letita Wright) survival following the Snap. She’s seen among the missing in a blink-and-you’ll-miss it moment from the first trailer. But considering all the alterations we discovered by just examining Black Widow’s hair, it is possible her very brief inclusion in the first trailer is there to obscure her Endgame situation; whether it be ascending to the throne or replacing Tony as the team’s tech wiz. And even if she did end up turning to dust, we hope the Avengers will extend an invitation to Okoye (Danai Gurira) to join them in the final conflict. Her face is on the new poster, after all.Avengers: Endgame opens everywhere on April 26.Like this? Subscribe to our newsletter and get more features, news, and guides in your inbox every week.

Music biopics aren t a new phenomenon, but with the recent success of Bohemian Rhapsody and Rami Malek s Oscar-winning performance you can expect a few more to come down the pipeline in the near future. This year already gave us the Netflix feature The Dirt, focusing on hard rockers Mötley Crüe, and this week brings us Rocketman, a fantasy-tinged look back at the life of Elton John. Taron Egerton takes on the challenge of portraying John in the film, which traces his upbringing and musical career, culminating in his lifelong friendship with songwriter Bernie Taupin (played by Jamie Bell). It also happens to be directed by Dexter Fletcher, the same man who took over and completed Bohemian Rhapsody in the wake of Bryan Singer s dismissal from the project. Critics say Rocketman is an affectionate, entertaining portrait that benefits from Egerton s powerhouse performance, John s indelible music, and some inventive cinematic flourishes, and it should both please longtime fans and serve as a worthy introduction for neophytes.

(Photo by Paramount /Courtesy Everett Collection)All Mission: Impossible Movies, Ranked By Tomatometer Hey, Tom. Paramount here. Yes, the studio. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to create a new summer franchise out of a 30-year-old TV show, and have it virtually improve with each sequel over 20 years And so Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt has halo-jumped, rock-climbed, motorcycle-duelled, and face mask-revealed his way across dozens of countries to unravel all manner of world threats in the Mission: Impossible movies. He s had help along the way, featuring a cast of series veterans, like Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg, and occasional players like Jeremy Renner and Paula Patton. Hunt hasn t had too much help from the IMF, though, considering how many times they think their star employee has gone rogue.A trademark for most of Mission: Impossible s lifespan was bringing in a new director for each entry, ranging from John Woo to Brad Bird to Brian De Palma, giving each entry a unique spin. But Since Rogue Nation, Cruise (who also produces) has found a perfect collaborator in Christopher McQuarrie. He was the first to direct two M:Is in a row, with Fallout raking in the series best box office and critical marks. McQuarrie will direct the next two films, both shooting concurrently, scheduled for May 27, 2022 and July 7, 2023.Before we see what death-defying hijinks they get into next (we don t think Ethan s been to the moon yet), we re ranking all Mission: Impossible movies by Tomatometer!

Producers solved the dilemma by adding graphic novel– style animation to existing live-action scenes. Cast members recorded dialogue from their homes for the animated scenes, as editors and animators completed their work remotely, having to complete around 20 minutes of animation in only five weeks.About the episode: The Task Force investigates an accountant who works for lucrative criminals in order to find the violent and thuggish brothers hired for his protection. We’ve all heard statistics: That opioid use has contributed to more American deaths than the Vietnam conflict. That it’s particularly ransacked rural America. That middle-aged women have frequently abused, and overdosed from, the drug. But how did something like the opioid drug OxyContin proliferate so quickly into our society since its mass release in 1995? Hulu’s new limited series Dopesick attempts to explain not just that, but also tell some of the stories of the people whose lives were ruined (and/or ended) because of the drug.“This is a crime story at its core,” creator Danny Strong told Rotten Tomatoes about adapting investigative journalist Beth Macy s book, Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors and the Drug Company that Addicted America. “I thought if you ve combined the crime story and the people gathering evidence — and the suspense and tension that comes with that — with the tragedy of addiction of the opioid crisis and paid homage to the victims, and you intertwined at all, it can be quite moving, quite powerful.”What resulted is a star-studded, eight-episode miniseries that uses multiple timelines and points of view to unfold this complicated story.(Photo by Gene Page/Hulu)Many of the actors are playing real people. Michael Stuhlbarg portrays Richard Sackler, the billionaire in charge of Oxycontin developer Purdue Pharma. To see Dopesick tell it, Sackler pushed for the development and wide distribution of the drug as he struggled with his extended family to gain greater control over Purdue, their privately-held business.Peter Sarsgaard portrays Rick Mountcastle, John Hoogenakker portrays Randy Ramseyer, and Jake McDorman portrays John Brownlee — some of the attorneys who investigated the epidemic and brought Purdue Pharma to trial.“When you re playing someone who is real, but not well known, the most important thing is just to be true to yourself,” Sarsgaard said of the challenges of playing a regular person just doing his job under extraordinary circumstances. “If you re playing Winston Churchill, then you ve got to figure out that accent and put on some weight. In the case of Rick, I ve read the book. But I didn t communicate with him at all before, during, or even after making the [series].”McDorman said that while he did speak with Brownlee after shooting, some of his dialogue came straight from Strong’s own interviews with the United States attorney. Hoogenakker, who did meet with Ramseyer before filming, said that “the role was written in such a way that I didn t have to really rely on mannerisms or the way that Randy spoke.”(Photo by Hulu)Other characters are amalgamations. Will Poulter and Phillipa Soo play pharmaceutical reps responsible for peddling Purdue’s Oxy-centric platform. Poulter’s Billy is slow to drink the Kool-Aid, while Soo’s Amber is seemingly all-in from day one.Poulter said that, in developing the character, he asked himself questions about “what would motivate a young person, first of all, to step into the role of a Purdue Pharma rep? … What are the qualifications associated with that? And then, along the way, when you re faced with the corruption; the deceit; the lies that you re being encouraged to kind of promote and pass on … at what point does your own moral compass correct you? Or not?”Soo looked at the themes of the show in developing her character, and said, “on a whole, a really good question the show asks is why are we in pain? How do we medicate that pain? For Amber, there s a deep pain within her that she does not have access to. And the best way to deal with it is to have control over who she is; how she presents herself in this world.”(Photo by Antony Platt/Hulu)And then there were depictions of people who would be susceptible to all of this marketing. Michael Keaton plays Samuel Finnix, a small-town doctor lured in by sales rep Billy’s promise that he can help people in chronic pain. Kaitlyn Dever plays Betsy Mallum, a coal miner in the physician’s tight community and one of his patients.“After so many years [since the drug was launched,] people still don t know about what actually went down and I think people are discovering it now,” Dever said.Dever fell “in love with Betsy,” her character, “because she wanted to prove to her family that she could be a miner and that she was going to be, not just a miner,” she said.“Seeing how hardworking and determined she was at the very beginning to then see her arc and the decline after that, it just makes it even more heartbreaking because she had so many plans for her life,” Dever said.Keaton, who also played a real estate agent dealing with substance abuse in the 1988 film Clean and Sober, acknowledged that Hollywood has not always done a fair or accurate job depicting addiction.“I think the awareness now is much greater,” as compared to the way it was when that film came out, Keaton told press during the show’s Television Critics Association panel. “The stigma has changed about addiction in general.”(Photo by Gene Page/Hulu)It’s also important to remember that, whether the characters on screen are amalgamations or not, real people did – and are – suffering because of Purdue’s actions.Rosario Dawson, who plays DEA agent Bridget Meyer, told journalists at TCA that there are “family members and people in the community who I ve seen suffer and whose lives have, generationally, been impacted now from opioid addiction.”It’s important to remember “the ease with which it was just brought into their lives and how destructive it was,” Dawson said.Dopesick premieres October 13 on Hulu.

The disappearance (but let’s just call it murder) of Jimmy Hoffa is one of the most notorious organized crime stories of the 20th century, and more than 40 years later, the case still remains un

暴ol As we near the end of summer and the beginning of the school year, we ve still got a few noteworthy titles looking to pull in big audiences for that sweet blockbuster dough. The biggest of them is, of course, the DC super-anti-hero movie helmed by James Gunn, but we ve also got a cheeky action comedy starring Ryan Reynolds and a trio of horror flicks of very different stripes. Based on numbers compiled from our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter polls, as well as Want-to-See numbers on RT, here are the five most anticipated movies of August!1. The Suicide Squad (2021)#1 on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, #2 on RTIn theaters and available on HBO Max on August 6Just in case you haven t been following along with the DC Extended Universe, this is not the same movie as 2016 s Suicide Squad, directed by David Ayer, even though it features some of the same  actors portraying the same characters (Margot Robbie s Harley Quinn, Viola Davis Amanda Waller, Joel Kinnaman s Rick Flag). James Guardians of the Galaxy Gunn takes over behind the camera for this new iteration of a group of would-be villains who are recruited to fight other bad guys under a secret government initiative, and if early reviews are any indication, you all have good reason to be excited about this one.2. Candyman (2021)#2 on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, #3 on RTIn theaters on August 27Taking a hard left from goofy, self-aware superhero shenanigans, we have this reboot-by-way-of-sequel of an iconic horror franchise. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II stars as an artist who moves into a fancy new development where Chicago s infamous Cabrini Green housing projects once stood and where the vengeful spirit known as the Candyman once stalked his victims. As he explores Candyman s origins in his art, he unwittingly unleashes a new horror. This film was delayed from its scheduled release last year, so fans have been eager to see it for over a year.3. Free Guy (2021)#1 on RT, #3 on Instagram and Twitter, #4 on FacebookIn theaters on August 13This meta-comedy set in the world of video games centers on a background character (Ryan Reynolds) who becomes self-aware and decides to become the hero of the game with the help of the programmers responsible for his awakening. Jodie Comer, Lil Rel Howery, and Taika Waititi co-star, and Reynolds has plenty of experience with this brand of silly, self-referential humor (see: Deadpool). This one was also delayed from its original release last year, but it still managed to rack up the most Want-to-See votes on RT.4. Don't Breathe 2 (2021)#4 on Instagram and Twitter, #5 on FacebookIn theaters on August 13Fede Álvarez had a sleeper hit with 2016 s relentless thriller Don t Breathe, which followed a group of young burglars who find themselves at the mercy of a blind man with a very particular set of skills. This time, Álvarez takes on a producing role (alongside horror vet Sam Raimi) and hands the reins over to first-time director Rodo Sayagues, as Stephen Lang reprises his role as the blind man in question, Norman Nordrstrom, who again must protect his home from invaders who may or may not have a very good reason for breaking in. Nobody asked for or expected this sequel, but the first film was so deliciously raw that this one makes it to spot #4 on our list.5. The Night House (2020)#3 on Facebook, #5 on RTIn theaters on August 20No stranger to horror dramas and psychological thrillers, Rebecca Hall stars in this chiller about a woman grieving the sudden death of her husband. Holed up in the home he built for her, she begins to experience terrifying visions that lead her to uncover dark secrets from his past. This film premiered to solid reviews at Sundance back in 2020, and it s finally getting a release. Most critics praised Hall s performance and moody atmosphere, so if you re looking for a good scare this month, you ll only have to wait a few weeks for it.Thumbnail by Warner Bros. Today s abbreviated Thanksgiving-week Ketchup brings you six headlines from the world of film development news, covering titles such as Cats, the Sopranos prequel, and the Birds of Prey movie. This WEEK S TOP STORYNATALIE PORTMAN, BRAD PITT, TILDA SWINTON MAY STAR IN WES ANDERSON S FRENCH MUSICAL(Photo by Elizabeth Goodenough, Priscilla Grant, Derek Storm/Everett Collection)Wes Anderson is one of those directors with indie/arthouse roots who defies expectations from film to film. For example, his most recent film was a stop motion animated movie with a large ensemble cast playing talking dogs in Japan (Isle of Dogs, Certified Fresh at 89%). For his next film, Anderson is reportedly preparing for a French musical set during the post-World War II era, and the last week has seen a series of (unconfirmed) casting stories. The first came out last Tuesday, with a list of rumored stars including Bill Murray (Anderson s most frequent collaborator), as well as Adrien Brody and Owen Wilson (also frequent Anderson collaborators). Three days later, another story came out that two other possible co-stars were Brad Pitt and Natalie Portman. The third story seemed to confirm the casting of Tilda Swinton (also a frequent Anderson actor), as well as French actress Lea Seydoux (Spectre, Blue is the Warmest Color). We can probably expect a full ensemble cast announcement sometime soon.Fresh Developments1. JURASSIC PARK III CO-STAR LANDS LEAD IN SOPRANOS PREQUEL (Photo by Emiley Schweich/Everett Collection)The last few weeks have brought a series of news stories about movies inspired by TV shows like Breaking Bad, Deadwood, and Downton Abbey. So, one would be forgiven if they d forgotten about The Many Saints of Newark, the prequel movie to HBO s The Sopranos, which was announced in March of this year. That movie is, however, still moving forward with the news this week that the lead actor will be Alessandro Nivola (Jurassic Park III, American Hustle). Nivola has been cast as Richard Dickey Moltisanti, who in the 1960s Newark setting was a big brother figure to the young Tony Soprano (and the future father of Christopher Moltisanti). The Many Saints of Newark will be directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World, Terminator: Genisys), working from a screenplay cowritten by The Sopranos creator and showrunner David Chase. There is not yet a firm premise for The Many Saints of Newark, except that, in addition to being a Sopranos prequel, it s also set during the Newark riots of 1967.2. BIRDS OF PREY FULL TITLE LEANS HEAVILY ON MARGOT ROBBIE S HARLEY QUINN(Photo by Warner Bros.)Warner Bros. just made all future headlines about their Birds of Prey adaptation a lot more difficult to thumbnail with the official announcement of what its title is going to be. It brings to mind the full titles of both 2014 s Birdman (or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) and 1964 s Doctor Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. The lengthy title was announced by Warner Bros. via a lipstick-smeared screenplay bearing the title Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). So, the film may include Mary Elizabeth Winstead as the Huntress and Jurnee-Smollett-Bell, but Warner Bros. made sure it was Margot Robbie s Harley Quinn was front and center. Warner Bros. has scheduled Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) for release on February 7, 2020 (against Peter Rabbit 2, and one week before James Bond 25).3. CHRIS PRATT S NEXT FRANCHISE MAY BE GENTLEMAN THIEF THE SAINT Ahead of his sophomore directorial effort, The Kid, Vincent D Onofrio (who also co-stars in the movie) sat down with Rotten Tomatoes to talk in detail about the new film. Whether it was the historical context of Pat Garrett s legacy as a lawman or the small, intricate details he picked up from real-life photos of Billy the Kid, D Onofrio was willing to go the extra mile for the sake of accuracy. And that all-star cast? D Onofrio talks about harnessing the poetry of Ethan Hawke and helping Chris Pratt unleash the darkness hidden within him to get performances we haven t seen from them before. Check out our in-depth interview for more. The Kid opens in theaters March 8.Like this? Subscribe to our newsletter and get more features, news, and guides in your inbox every week.

暴ol s take control of the ship before he can crash it and Kryze learns a vital piece of information about the Darksaber: Gideon has it.Though she would like to keep Djarin by her side, she tells him a Jedi called Ahsoka Tano can be found in the city of Calodan on the planet Corvus.Bo-Katan Kryze Is the Heiress of Mandalore(Photo by Cartoon Network/Lucasfilm)While an action-filled episode with a number of laughs, the story-altering info revolves around Bo-Katan Kryze and the nature of mainstream Mandalorian culture. After first appearing on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the character returned in Star Wars Rebels. In both animated series, she was voiced by Sackhoff, so having her play the part in live action is both welcome and a very specific nod to the stories Dave Filoni and his team told about Mandalorians on those shows.During the Clone Wars, Bo-Katan was a member of the terrorist organization known as the Death Watch, while her sister Satine ruled Mandalore as its duchess. At that time, Satine advocated a more pacifistic stance for the people, but Bo-Katan wanted to embrace the Mandalorian warrior culture of a bygone era. Unfortunately, all of their idealistic notions were undone when Darth Maul used the tension between Mandalore and the Death Watch to take control of the planet. He also executed Satine.Eventually, the Old Republic took notice of Mandalore s plight and launched an invasion. After the battle, Bo-Katan was left as the planet s regent, but was soon deposed when the Empire came to secure the planet. Twenty-odd years later, Bo-Katan came into possession of the Darksaber, assumed the title of Mand alor, and vowed to take back the planet from the Empire.(Photo by Disney+/Lucasfilm Ltd.)Nearly a decade later, it seems Bo-Katan is still fighting to get her planet back. And, along the way, she lost the Darksaber. As she noted to the Imperial commander, she needs the Darksaber to legitimately rule Mandalore. This is the Way, you see.As it happens, Bo-Katan s Way differs a great deal from Djarin s. For one thing: she can remove her helmet. This is consistent with all of the Mandos seen in Filoni s animated shows. Thus, it is now clear the Way of the Mandalore is not a prevailing notion among mainstream Mando society. Instead, as Bo-Katan notes, it is the Way of the Children of the Watch, a group of religious zealots dedicated to re-establishing an even more ancient Mandalorian society than the one she espoused in her youth.Curiously, it seems the Children of the Watch are distinct from the Death Watch despite seeing the latter group s insigna in Djarin s flashbacks to the Clone Wars last season. Of course, it is possible former members of the Death Watch joined the Fighting Corps who rescued Djarin and adopted the Way of the Mandalore.Nonetheless, all of this history and Bo-Katan s search for the Darksaber suggests the true liberation of Mandalore is in the series future. Considering Filoni s involvement with The Mandalorian, it is only a matter of time before his on-going story threads join up with Djarin s wanderings.(Photo by ©Warner Bros./Courtesy Everett Collection; Jean Baptiste Lacroix/WireImage)And that brings us to Ahsoka Tano. From the moment Favreau revealed Filoni s involvement with the show, it was only a matter of time before the character found her way to the series. This is the Way of Filoni, you see. But we found it interesting that Bo-Katan referred to her as a Jedi. The character quit the order sometime before the establishment of the Empire. And though she led the Republic s siege of Mandalore — and captured Maul — she remained outside of the Jedi strictures into the Galactic Civil War era. The last time we saw her, in Rebels closing moments, she was setting out to find Rebels main character Ezra Bridger shortly after the Battle of Endor alongside Mandalorian Sabine Wren.We doubt Ahsoka s ongoing tale will have much impact on The Mandalorian this season — although a live action Sabine would be welcome — but it will be interesting to see if she makes any mention of her own quest should she debut next week. We re cautiously optimistic we ll see her, but considering the way Boba Fett (Temeura Morrison) was teased in the season premiere, it is possible Ahsoka (reportedly set to be played by Rosario Dawson) will wait in the wings a bit longer.Questioning The Way: Helmets Off for Din Djarin?(Photo by Disney+/Lucasfilm Ltd.)Bo-Katan Kryze s pronouncements about Mandalorian society left us with a number of questions which feel particularly resonant to the future of The Mandalorian. If its scope truly does expand to a Game of Thrones level, then these issues will need to be addressed. Will Djarin Take His Helmet Off? With his own tribe scattered, it is possible Djarin will find a home with the Nite Owls. If that is the case, he will be free to remove his helmet. After the events of this episode, it seems clear Bo-Katan will vouch for him as a true Mandalorian while freeing him of the more restrictive Way. But as any former adherent to a faith will tell you, letting go of ways ingrained as a child is not easy. This may actually form a long-term character arc for Djarin as he learns the Way of the Mandalore is not absolute. Considering the Way serves as emotional beskar for the orphaned traveler, seeing him share his face with another living being could represent true growth for the character.(Photo by Disney+/Lucasfilm Ltd.)Is Gideon a Mandalorian? Since we still don t know much about the Moff — according to Esposito, revelations about the character will have to wait until season 3 — we can t let go of the sneaking suspicion he was the Fighting Corps or Death Watch member who rescued Djarin in the waning days of the Clone Wars. Such a thing would make him a very Star Wars–style Dark Father. Also, his interest in Mandalorian weapons may be more than a personal fascination. Has he been planning to take Mandalore for himself as a new base for the Imperial Remnant? But then, why was he so interested in the Child? Is Mandalore a Cursed Planet? Until his meeting with Kryze, Djarin was under the impression Mandalore was a cursed planet offering only death to its visitors. Bo-Katan maintained a more positive view, which leaves us to wonder what Djarin will find when he inevitably ends up there. Since Kryze is still trying to mount a liberation effort four or five years after the Battle of Endor, we re inclined to believe it is still under some sort of Imperial control. Or, perhaps, those in change of the planet have turned isolationist and spread the rumors of death and destruction to heal from their own traumas. But one thing seems clear: Djarin s path will eventually take him there whether or not he reunites the Child with his own people. On an Apple device? Follow Rotten Tomatoes on Apple News.
