(Photo by Chiabella James/Paramount Pictures)All Tom Cruise Movies, Ranked By TomatometerFrom his teen idol days in the early 80s to his status as a marquee-lighting leading man today, Tom Cruise has consistently done it all for decades — he s completed impossible missions, learned about Wapner time in Rain Man, driven the highway to the danger zone in Top Gun, and done wonders for Bob Seger’s royalty statements in Risky Business, to offer just a few examples. Mr. Cruise is one of the few honest-to-goodness film stars left in the Hollywood firmament, so whether you re a hardcore fan or just interested in a refresher course on his filmography, we re here to take a fond look back at a truly impressive career and rank all Tom Cruise movies by Tomatometer.

This remake of a Danish film has been in development since 2015, but filming finally got underway in January of 2021.

7.44.7 9月喜迎HER NOLAN, AND THE WITCHES REMAKE(Photo by Melinda Sue Gordon/Paramount Pictures)For obvious calendar-related reasons, January is often a time when we see a lot of big future release dates. Although we know nothing else about it, the biggest reveal of this batch is the next film from director Christopher Nolan: IMAX on July 17, 2020, up against the Bob s Burgers movie and The Spongebob Movie: It s a Wonderful Sponge. A week earlier, on July 10, 2020, we ll get Ghostbusters 3, the direct sequel to the first two films, rumored to feature new teenage Ghostbusters. Later that month, on July 31, 2020, Sony has scheduled the Marvel s Morbius, the vampire antihero movie starring Jared Leto and Doctor Who star Matt Smith. Earlier in that year, May 8 will be the new release date for Greyhound, a World War II naval drama starring Tom Hanks, a date also claimed by Reese Witherspoon s Legally Blonde 3. January 3, 2020 will be the new release date for the reboot of The Grudge (which had previously been scheduled for this summer). Later in 2020, we ll also have the remake of The Witches (10/16/2020), starring Anne Hathaway in the role originally played by Anjelica Huston. 4. ZENDAYA AND OSCAR ISAAC ARE THE LATEST STARS JOINING THE DUNE REBOOT(Photo by Lev Radin/Everett Collection)Frank Herbert s classic science fiction novel Dune features a massive ensemble cast of characters, and so we re in the midst of what will be several weeks of role announcements. To date, we ve already heard about Timothée Chalamet in the lead role as Paul Atreides, as well as Rebecca Ferguson (as Lady Jessica), Charlotte Rampling (as Reverend Mother Mohiam), Stellan Skarsgård (as Baron Harkonnen), and Dave Bautista (as The Beast Rabban). This week, we can now add to the mix Spider-Man: Homecoming costar Zendaya, who is in early talks to play Chalamet s romantic interest, Chani. Oscar Isaac, who is coming off playing Poe Dameron in Star Wars: The Force Awaken, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and this December s Star Wars Episode IX, is in talks to play Duke Leto Atreides.  5. THREE RECENT ACADEMY AWARD WINNERS JOIN THE HEART (Photo by Fox Searchlight courtesy Everett Collection)In addition to playing Dean Pelton on Community, Jim Rash is also a writer and director who with his partner Nat Faxon has previously worked on The Descendants and The Way Way Back. For their next film, The Heart, Rash and Faxon are arguably stacking the deck by recruiting three recent Academy Award winners: Allison Janney, who won a Supporting Actress Oscar last year for I, Tonya; Octavia Spencer, who won in that category for 2012 s The Help; and Sam Rockwell also won last year for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Rockwell and Spencer will play people desperate for cash who agree to courier a black market human heart in what they soon discover is a very dangerous job. Janney plays Spencer s antagonist ex-boss. In related news, there are also now rumors that Janney and Rockwell may not be asked to present Academy Awards this year, as is often the tradition in the acting categories.6. THIS WEEK IN ZOMBIELAND: ROSARIO DAWSON JOINS SEQUEL, WOODY GOES FRUIT LOOPS (Photo by Glen Wilson/Columbia courtesy Everett Collection)Everything was awesome for Sony Pictures in 2018, and the studio is keeping this swinging with the Zombieland: Double Tap (10/11/2019) poster reveal, presented as a play on the social media 10 year challenge. That poster also showed off that all four Zombieland stars (Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin) are returning. We also learned this week that they will be joined by Rosario Dawson. Harrelson also made a new deal recently to star in the Fox 2000 drama Fruit Loops, which is described as a psychiatric hospital drama in the style of One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest. Fruit Loops will be directed by Ted Melfi (Hidden Figures, St. Vincent), who also this week set up a new sci-fi project called Harry s All Night Hamburgers. 7. THE INVISIBLE MAN REBOOT IS HAPPENING AFTER ALL, BUT JOHNNY DEPP S DISAPPEAREDIn the months and weeks leading up to the 2017 release of The Mummy, Universal Pictures did a lot of press about how that reboot was going to lead to the Dark Universe cinematic universe, featuring classic Universal Monsters like Bride of Frankenstein and The Wolfman. The box office disappointment of The Mummy quickly led to the Dark Universe plans being dismantled, but we learned this week that some Universal Monsters will still get their reboot movies after all. In the Dark Universe plan, Johnny Depp was to have played The Invisible Man, but that movie is now moving forward without Depp. Instead, The Invisible Man is now being rebooted by Upgrade director Leigh Whannell at Blumhouse. The shift to Blumhouse for The Invisible Man (and possibly other Universal Monsters) is being perceived as a smart move, considering how Blumhouse has been able to deliver successful franchises like Insidious, Ouija, Paranormal Activity, and The Purge. 8. CAPTAIN MARVEL STAR BRIE LARSON STARTING A LADY BUSINESS AT NETFLIX(Photo by Claire Folger/Paramount Pictures)Just as Captain Marvel prepares to release March 8, Brie Larson is setting up at least one new project at Netflix, which is also where her directorial debut called Unicorn Store (debuting April 5) landed. Larson will star in and direct Lady Business, based upon the true stories of Witchsy founders Kate Dwyer and Penelope Gazin. Lady Business will tell the story of two female entrepreneurs who invent a third male company founder in order to be taken seriously in the business world.  Rotten Idea1. PIKA-TWO: POKÉMON DETECTIVE PIKACHU ALREADY GETTING SEQUEL?(Photo by Warner Bros.)The videogame adaptation Pokémon Detective Pikachu (5/10/2019) is still over three months away, so we have no idea if it s going to be the big movie that breaks the Rotten curse of video game movies. After 25 years and nearly 50 Rotten video game movies, it s probably safe to be skeptical about all upcoming releases. This week, Warner Bros. revealed that they re already starting development on a Detective Pikachu sequel. The studio is doing that by hiring screenwriter Oren Uziel (The Cloverfield Paradox, co-writer of 22 Jump Street) to work on it. Other upcoming films Uziel has worked on include Sonic the Hedgehog (11/8/2019), Supergirl, and the Mortal Kombat reboot.

The summer heat is reaching new heights this month, the coronavirus pandemic continues affecting film and television production around the country, and the selection of returning series to binge is admittedly slim. So we are bringing you something a little different with this month’s guide by including an upcoming streaming film and the star’s previous TV projects you ll want to catch up on. Find our recommendations below for six series to binge in August. The Rain (Netflix)What it is: This post-apocalyptic Danish thriller from creators Jannik Tai Mosholt, Esben Toft Jacobsen, and Christian Potalivo takes place six years after the modern world has succumbed to a fatal virus that’s transmitted through toxic, infected rain. Siblings Simone and Rasmus survived against all odds while holed up in a bunker, and they reenter the world in search of their scientist father to find the rain has killed nearly all signs of human life in their native Scandinavia. They’re soon joined by another young group of survivors who face the world’s devastation and dangers together. Why you should watch it: This slow-burning, character-driven drama has enough sci-fi elements and reality-based thrills to keep any fan of the admittedly well-worn dystopian genre entertained for a quick binge. Season 3 premieres August 6 on Netflix.Where to watch: NetflixCommitment: Approx. 10.5 hours (for the first two seasons)Star Trek: The Next Generation 91% (CBS All Access)What it is: As the Star Trek universe adds a new series with this month’s Star Trek: Lower Decks, we’re recommending you revisit The Next Generation for a summer binge. TNG sets the stage for this animated comedy series’ fantastical world, which follows four “heroes” from the support crew on Starfleet s U.S.S. Cerritos, the fleet’s least important ship. The series also borrows its name from TNG episode, “Lower Decks.” If you want more Star Trek options, check out our list of Star Trek TV Shows Ranked by Tomatometer to find one that s right for you. Why you should watch it: While the new series should be accessible to Trekkies, experts, and newbies alike, a binge of TNG will give you the info you need to ID the Lower Decks’ Easter eggs, share in the Trek humor, and more. Season 1 premieres August 6 on CBS All Access.Where to watch: Amazon, CBS All Access, FandangoNOW, Google Play, Hulu, Microsoft, Netflix, VuduCommitment: Approx. 132 hours (for all seven seasons)Freaks and Geeks 100% (NBC)Undeclared 93% (Fox)What it is: This one is for all the Seth Rogen lovers out there. Today, he is a bankable star thanks to timeless teen and stoner comedy classics like Knocked Up, Superbad, and Pineapple Express — and his latest, An American Pickle, is quite literally timeless due to its time-jumping immigrant premise. But some may forget that he pretty much grew up on our screens at the top of the millennium with Judd Apatow’s short-lived but beloved network comedies, Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared. Why you should watch it: Anyone who’s ever felt like an adrift outsider will likely see themselves in any number of the messy-but-lovable characters across these two series. If you’re looking for a classic binge that’ll remind you just why Rogen is a huge star today, this is a great place to start before An American Pickle premieres on HBO Max on August 6.Where to watch it: A little twist with these titles: They re only available to purchase on DVD, so you re going to have to really commit. Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared are available to order from Amazon.com. (Step 1: Do you even have a DVD player?)Commitment: Approx. 13 hours for Freaks and Geeks and approx. 6.5 hours for Undeclared.Endeavour 88% (PBS)What it is: As a prequel series to the long-running Inspector Morse, this Russell Lewis–created, Shaun Evans–starring series follows our hero Endeavour Morse through his early career as a detective constable through to his promotion as a detective sergeant with the Oxford City Police. Why you should watch it: This lush period drama depicting 1960s-era Oxford and the surrounding area is grounded first and foremost from a charismatic Evans, but its twists and turns also help make the series endlessly watchable for lovers of the PBS Masterpiece cloth. Season 7 premieres August 9 on PBS.Where to watch it: Amazon, FandangoNOW, Google Play, Microsoft, VuduCommitment: Approx. 40 hours (for the first six seasons)Lucifer 88% (Netflix)What it is: Most people escape their locale to vacation where it’s warm, but where do you vacation when your home is in Hell? Los Angeles, apparently. That’s where our titular antihero Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) sets his sights, at least, after resigning his post as ruler of the underworld to spice up his life. Once in L.A., he opens up a nightclub and stumbles into becoming a civilian consultant for the LAPD.Why you should watch it: Based on the DC Comics character created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg, Lucifer Morningstar is a protagonist like we haven’t seen before. Ruler of Hell, sure, but also charismatic as hell (charming, witty, and handsome), proving himself to be the perfect right-hand man for homicide detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German). (Over the span of the series, their beguiling relationship is one of the reasons to stick around, too.) Lucifer was cancelled by Fox in 2018, but revived by Netflix, which will premiere its fifth season on August 21.Where to watch: Amazon, FandangoNOW, Google Play, Hulu, Microsoft, Netflix, VuduCommitment: Approx. 47 hours (for the first four seasons)
News from Westeros and Deadwood from HBO, 90210 reunion event news, Star Trek plots a new course on Nickelodeon, and more of the biggest TV news from this week.TOP STORYGoodbye, WesterosWhile HBO is well into production on one of the Game of Thrones prequel scripts it commissioned last year, one of the potential spin-off series is dead. Game of Thrones writer and co-executive producer Bryan Cogman, who has written 11 episodes of the series (including Sunday’s “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”), confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that his spin-off is no longer in the works.“I was developing one of the successor shows with George [R.R. Martin]. George has worked with a bunch of the writers, including Jane [Goldman], whose show is being done [as a pilot]. My prequel show is not happening and will not happen. HBO decided to go a different way,” he told the publication“It is a goodbye. I am done with Westeros,” he added. “It s wonderfully bittersweet. I ll certainly miss it, but I m excited to go out on my own and try to be in the captain s chair of my own projects, armed with everything I ve learned. I ve learned more than I could possibly imagine from eight seasons of this thing. It s been wonderful to look back and watch some of the old episodes, and see some of our old friends at the premiere recently, and to know that we ve done something good. We ve done good work that people enjoy. That s all an entertainer can ever hope for. I m eager to start the next chapter, but a part of my heart will always live with Game of Thrones.”Shannen Dougherty Joins Beverly Hills, 90210 Event Series(Photo by Earl Gibson III/Getty Images)Former Beverly Hills, 90210 good girl-gone-bad Brenda Walsh will appear in Fox s six-episode event series BH90210, the network announced on Friday. Shannen Doherty, who played Brenda in the teen drama, joins her former co-stars – Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling – in the irreverent new series airing this summer. This time when the cast gets back together, it will come with a big twist: the seven former teen idols will be playing heightened versions of themselves, Fox said in an announcement. The series description promises drama inspired by the actors own real lives and relationships with each other: Having gone their separate ways since the original series ended 19 years ago, Shannen, Jason, Jennie, Ian, Gabrielle, Brian and Tori reunite when one of them suggests it’s time to get a Beverly Hills, 90210 reboot up and running. But getting it going may make for an even more delicious soap than the reboot itself. What will happen when first loves, old romances, friends, and frenemies come back together, as this iconic cast – whom the whole world watched grow up together – attempts to continue from where they left off? BH90210 will be produced by CBS Television Studios and Fox Entertainment. Doherty will executive-produce alongside Chris Alberghini, Mike Chessler, Patrick Sean Smith, Gabrielle Carteris, Jennie Garth, Brian Austin Green, Jason Priestley, Tori Spelling and Ian Ziering. The series was conceived by Alberghini, Chessler, Spelling and Garth. New Trailers, C suckersHBO has finally released the first trailer for its long- (long-, long-, long-) anticipated Deadwood continuation, titled Deadwood: The Movie. The feature-length film, which debuts May 31, will star the series’ entire original cast (Timothy Olyphant, Ian McShane, and more) and picks up 10 years after the series finale. It also includes the series’ trademark penchant for blue language, but you’ll have to wait approximately 40 seconds for the first c sucker to drop. Deadwood ran for three seasons from 2004-2006, and the stars and creator David Milch have spent the intervening 13 years fielding questions from reporters and fans about a follow-up. In just one month (and change), that follow-up film will finally be here.Other new trailers this week include:a full-length peek at DC Universe’s Swamp Thing — see it herean extended look at Hulu’s George Clooney–produced adaptation of Catch-22 — see it hereand another look at Epix’s Batman pre-prequel about the caped crusader’s butler, Pennyworth. — see it here.

Netflix s Ozark, created by Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams and showrun by Chris Mundy, follows the downward spiral of a seemingly innocent Chicago accountant, Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman). When his secret money-laundering deal with a Mexican cartel goes south, he decides to move his family to central Missouri to protect himself and the lives of his wife, Wendy (Laura Linney), and kids Charlotte (Sofia Hublitz) and Jonah (Skylar Gaertner).Over the course of the show s first two seasons, Marty s various criminal dealings resulted in overly bloody consequences; in fact, the amount of bone-chilling violence featured here, along with the strong performances delivered from each member of the cast, resulted in a bleak, yet action-packed series that surpassed genre expectations. It s no surprise that, upon its initial premiere, Ozark drew heavy comparisons to AMC s Breaking Bad. Each shows a family unit on the verge of collapse as its patriarch — whether it s Bryan Cranston s Walter White or Bateman s Marty Byrde — dabbles, to varying degrees, in the criminal underworld. Add in a cartel menace, snooping law enforcement entities, and the inevitable collateral damage each family faces, it s easy to see the similarities here. But as the story evolved in its second season, Ozark completely broke free from the Breaking Bad mold, as the Byrdes became complicit in Marty s crimes. His deal-with-the-devil became the family business, causing the overall brokenness of their fragile union to grow exponentially.(Photo by Guy D'Alema/Netflix)In the wake of Wendy s infidelity and the constant tension of who may be trying to kill them next, Marty tapped his significant other for help in a move to find solidarity and support. But things have a habit of not going his way, and as Wendy s taste for breaking the law grew, Marty was faced with one more challenge for him to deal with, or try to avoid at all costs in his crime boss–in–training wife.Season 1 didn t exactly dazzle critics, scoring a decent, but not stellar, 70% on the Tomatometer with 69 reviews. The second installment of the Netflix series performed a bit better and is now Certified Fresh at 76% on 45 reviews. Now, with new episodes dropping on Netflix, the question lingers: Is Ozark able to breathe new life into this bleak family drama or is the jig finally up for this bloody money-laundering tale? Here s what critics have to say about season 3 of Ozark.Marty and Wendy s Marital (and Criminal) Conflict Carries the Season(Photo by Steve Deitl/Netflix)Though the Byrde’s situation remains tenuous in some ways, they’re in a better position than ever before in others, the problem being that Marty and Wendy simply don’t see eye to eye on what’s best for their business and their family. As such, the series opens the door for the long-building conflict between the couple to finally come to a head. And the results are some of the best and most tense episodes of the series to date. — Kevin Yeoman, ScreenRantWendy seems hellbent on roaming the same criminal grounds Marty is now too afraid to retread while avoiding (or repeating) his mistakes. She wants to expand the family business. She wants to increase their profile, despite its obvious fallbacks (like attracting the FBI). And when her husband refuses to continue laundering money for the cartel and their other interests, Wendy picks up the pace of her campaign against him. — Andrew Husband, Den Of GeekEvil Laura Linney Is the Best Laura LinneyWendy in particular realizes her penchant for illicit and illegal activities this season, taking the lead of operations against Marty’s wishes, allowing Laura Linney countless moments to dominant a scene, proving exactly why she deserved her Emmy win. — Katie Awad, HypableIn some ways, this run of episodes is all about Wendy, whose new, flinty resolve scared her husband at the end of season two—and who is now putting that mettle to the ultimate stress test. The results are fascinatingly shaded; Wendy realizes she’s in perilously deep, while also digging in further. She’s horrified by the erosion of her ethics, while quietly thrilled by what’s possible once those bonds have been shaken off. This is the most that Linney has been allowed to tear into her character, and it’s thrilling to watch. — Richard Lawson, Vanity FairRuth Langmore Is the Unexpected Heart of the ShowJulia Garner, who won a supporting actress Emmy last year, is the saving grace of this season as Marty’s right hand and most senior employee, Ruth Langmore. Through brashness and bravery, her loyalty to Marty affords her increasing responsibility. Soon she’s running the casino and closer to the apex of danger. Through the loss of her father, uncles and cousins, we get to see Ruth’s vulnerable side. She softens in the face of a potential love interest, and toward Marty, who fills a fatherly void. It’s predictable character arc yet it doesn’t disappoint because it’s the season’s most finely drawn development. — Rachna Raj Kaur, Now TorontoFresh off her Emmy win for Best Supporting Actress last year, Garner remains a standout in this series. Ruth’s foul-mouthed spitfire attitude is still an absolute delight, but Garner continues to flesh out this character with complexity and a moving vulnerability that makes her one of the most interesting characters on the show. — Adam Chitwood, ColliderAfter a fine first season and a so-so second, this show is full of fresh energy. The best character is the casino manager (Emmy-winning Julia Garner), a spitfire you’ll want to meet. — Tim Appelo, AARPSeason 3 Is an Improvement, but Ozark Isn t Taking Any Narrative Chances(Photo by Steve Dietl/Netflix) Ozark lacks that brilliance that only few achieve, but it continues to do more with each season, and always manages to solve with efficiency all the mishaps in which it puts its characters. — Mikel Zorrilla, EspinofEven with a lot of the right pieces in place, “Ozark” remains short-sighted in how it manufactures drama, relying far too often on quick positional pivots and bad decisions to generate immediate conflict, rather than building long-term arcs with more satisfying payoffs. — Ben Travers, IndieWireOzark season 3 premieres on Friday, March 27 on Netflix.

亚博国际官网登录 Red Carpet Pictures: Oscars 2019 It's been a long road to Oscar gold, but first see the amazing celebrity looks on the red carpet! by RT Staff | February 24, 2019 | Comments

What it is: From director Kwang Il Han and based on the book series by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf is a prequel spinoff film of Netflix’s hit Henry Cavill starrer from creator Lauren Schmidt that charts the monster-slaying adventures of Geralt’s mentor, Vesemir, in stunning anime. Why you should watch it: If you haven’t already read the source material, we recommend the best way to catch up for this feature is to binge the first season of The Witcher. Ambitiously violent and larger-than-life, it certainly ranks as one of Netflix’s best fantasy series and will give you all the knowledge you need to appreciate this animated vision of what came before. 亚博国际官网登录 Who Could Be Nominated For The Best Actress Oscar?Lupita Nyong o, Scarlett Johansson and more these are the actresses who already have a shot at the Oscar.Posted by The Rotten Tomatoes Channel on Friday, October 4, 2019Yes, we know what you re thinking. With so many big Awards-y movies released in the fall, it seems slightly comical to predict the Oscar nominees in July. But the Oscar movie calendar gets started earlier and earlier, the very notion of an Oscar movie is changing, and the entire awards season is getting shorter (this year the window from Oscar nominations to the ceremony was shortened two weeks). Films like Black Panther and Get Out, which both premiered in the month of February, proved that Oscar-worthy films could walk home with a top prize no matter when they premiered during the year. So yeah, we re pretty much prepped to talk about awards-worthy movies all year round. It helps that a number of the films likely to be in the conversation in the fall have already screened at festivals, that many have Tomatometer scores, and that pundits are already singling out performances and scripts that critics have seen but audiences will not see for some months. Whether we like it or not, the campaigns are quietly underway and the conversation has started – and we re now ready to join it. Of course, if history tells us anything, it is that some of these names won t make it to Oscar night, but we re pretty confident a few of them will be right up there in awards chatter. So read on as we break down our ridiculously early picks for 2020 Best Actress contenders – supporting and lead.Don t agree with our picks? Have at us in the comments.Lupita Nyong o, Us (2019) 93%(Photo by © Universal Pictures)In our piece from earlier this year, RT contributor April Wolfe outlined the case for Lupita Nyong o, and horror performances in general, for end-of-year-honors. Despite a huge amount of critical acclaim, Nyong o s dual performance as Adelaide Wilson/Red in Jordan Peele s Us is a long shot (remember the buzz for Toni Collette in Hereditary?). But Peele and Jason Blum were able to get nominations and wins for Get Out and BlacKkKlansman – their and Universal s proven track record for smart and effective campaigns is hard to bet against. When we chatted with Blum last year on the awards circuit for BlacKkklansman, he was tight-lipped about their plans but made it clear that he, Peele, and the folks at Universal were going to put serious resources behind the 12 Years a Slave and Black Panther actress. In a year with fewer buzzy female performances, an off-the-map turn could go all the way.Alfre Woodard, Clemency (2019) 91%(Photo by Neon Pictures)After 40 years and over 120 credits, Alfre Woodard is finally a frontrunner – albeit a ridiculously early one – for a Best Actress Oscar nomination. The buzz is for her work in Clemency, a quiet thriller about a death row warden who struggles with emotional and psychological trauma inflicted upon her from years presiding over executions. It s still very early, but her name has been on just about every early Oscars list since Sundance. This may be another Glenn Close situation, where a veteran actress goes deep but falls short of the ultimate prize. But unlike Close, who was nominated for The Wife, Woodard s film is at one of the hottest distributors of the season, Neon. With a handful of compelling docs (Honeyland, Biggest Little Farm, Apollo 11, Amazing Grace), Sundance standouts (Luce, Clemency), and a pair of Cannes award winners (Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Parasite), Neon will have a full slate to promote this fall at the various award ceremonies. They also have a proven track record: remember when the fresh-on-the-scene Neon managed three nominations and one win for I, Tonya? Well, we haven t forgotten.Renée Zellweger, Judy (2019) 82%The first trailer for Judy calmed many fears about the upcoming Judy Garland biopic. Seeming to take place during the later part of the late actress s career, Judy sees Renée Zellweger embody Garland in a spot-on impression – including belting out songs from the singer s iconic catalog. A crooner in her own right (remember her Oscar-nominated Roxy from Chicago?), the Texas actress employed her musical chops to truly project the Wizard of Oz star. Garland fought drug addiction, money problems, and depression such hardships provide an ample playground for actorly, awards-winning performances. (It worked for Rami Malek last year in Bohemian Rhapsody and countless others). It s yet to be seen if this will be a Ray-type music biopic or something more like the critically panned and quickly forgotten The Runaways, but we fully expect acclaimed theater director Rupert Goold to milk a stellar performance from our very own Bridget Jones.Scarlett Johansson, Jojo Rabbit (2019) 80% and Marriage Story
