亚博app买球首选采用百度引擎6(Baidu 4)This year, Jimmy Fallon marks five years as host of The Tonight Show, arguably the most coveted regular hosting gig on the planet. He and his team have been celebrating the milestone with some of the series most ambitious episodes ever, episodes that mean a ton to the comedian personally. In February, on the show s fifth anniversary, Fallon paid tribute to one of his own comedy inspirations, Garry Shandling, by surprising viewers with a faux behind-the-scenes documentary episode, a la The Larry Sanders Show. (A BTS moment in which he s yelling at teenage animal expert Bob Irwin, son of Steve, is gold.) In January, he kicked off the year by taking a crew to Puerto Rico and shooting an episode on the island, which is still working through the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Fallon says he was inspired by Lin-Manuel Miranda s staging of Hamilton in San Juan, and at a recent Q A at the Writers Guild of America, described his Puerto Rico episode  one of my proudest moments of anything we ve ever done on any show I ve ever been a part of. Those who first saw Fallon when he was part of the Saturday Night Live cast during some of the show s best years – he crossed over with Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Rachel Dratch, Tracy Morgan – would likely be unsurprised to now see the comedian thriving in late night. He stood out back then because he was quick, armed with a flotilla of impressions, and, as a bonus, could sing. Today, he puts those skills to work nightly on The Tonight Show. Fallon says he developed those skills watching and learning from comedy s greats. As he gears up to close out his fifth year, and come back for a sixth, seventh, and eighth – he is contracted until at least 2021 – Fallon sat down with Rotten Tomatoes to pay tribute to some of those legendswith this list of his five favorite comedy movies ever. (Note, he was quick to caveat that he has so many more than five.)

Dark Phoenix brings the current X-Men saga to a close, but according to critics, the film ends the franchise with more of a whimper than a bang. Despite its stellar cast, the involvement of longtime franchise writer/producer Simon Kinberg (who makes his directorial debut here), and an iconic storyline taken straight from the comics, the would-be blockbuster only managed a 23% on the Tomatometer and failed to win its opening weekend at the box office, falling second to the animated sequel The Secret Life of Pets 2 by almost million. But what did average moviegoers think of the movie? Dark Phoenix currently sports an Audience Score of 64% that s more than 40 points higher than the Tomatometer score so we decided to comb through the user reviews to get a sense of why the film resonated more with regular moviegoers than the critics. As we ve found with other films, it really came down to audiences being more forgiving of some of the film s flaws. Were there those who outright loved the movie? Absolutely, but there was a wide range of opinions offered, and we ve collected some of them below. Check out the user reviews of Dark Phoenix and let us know what you thought of the film, and these reviews, in the comments. (Note, some of the reviews have been slightly edited for length and grammar/spelling.)(Photo by Doane Gregory/20th Century Fox)How is the writing?Horrible writing It felt like the writers of this movie knew nothing about the characters besides maybe what had come before from the Fox X-Men universe. Nate 4, 0.5 starsNot as bad as people are making it out to be. It is watchable. It is, however, very cheesy, and there is not really a solid plot/storyline to drive the movie forward. It was kind of sloppily done. Bianca F., 2.5 starsHave always been a huge fan of the X-Men. However, this felt rushed, like trying to tie up ends. The premise was great and the material was there, but the delivery was all over the place. Michelle, 3 starsLiked the effects. Disliked the departure from the original storyline. No character development.– Al-kareem T., 3 StarsNot too complicated of a story. R, 4 starsWhat about the acting?People keep saying this movie is unwatchable and terrible. IDK what those people are watching, but I was glued to the screen the whole time. Yes it has its problems like any movie but I enjoyed it. Sophie did a good job! Carlos, 3 starsIt s just not the same since Wolverine is not in it any more, and I wasn t really crazy about what happened to Raven. I m still a big fan of Michael Fassbender, who played Magneto. If it weren t for him, the X-Men would just completely suck. Northside Movie Critic, 3 starsThe movie wasn t perfect, but it isn t entirely bad. Sophie Turner, Michael Fassbender, and James McAvoy lift this movie, which suffers from very minimal action sequences. Uma M., 3.5 starsSophie Turner dazzled as both hero and villain in this powerful finale to the X-men series. This movie had the best character development, and Jessica Chastain was very well played as a mysterious villain. Jaylon, 4.5 starsI have no clue what all the hate is about. I loved this film. The tone, the VFX, and the score were all breathtaking. McAvoy and Turner stoke the show with astounding performances. 10/10 would watch again. Rodger C., 5 stars(Photo by 20th Century Fox)How is it as an adaptation of the Dark Phoenix Saga?Somehow Fox managed to make a worse Phoenix movie than X-Men: The Last Stand. Nate 4, 0.5 starsWas hoping this movie would stay more true to the comic. Well, sort of? Charles, 2 starsI just don’t think anyone has figured out how to tell the Dark Phoenix story adequately yet. Adam E., 3.5 starsIt s not ANYWHERE NEAR as bad as I was afraid it would be or the critic reviews are saying it is. That doesn t mean it s amazing, though. It does have its problems if it s trying to be THE Dark Phoenix Movie, but it never could have been with the underdeveloped characters they were working with. At least I didn t walk out saying, I can t believe The Last Stand was the GOOD Phoenix movie. It s missing some very crucial aspects of the Phoenix Saga that made it great that significantly disappoints, particularly in the third act. Very sad it s not the Phoenix movie I ve desperately wanted since I was a kid. Darknight Crawler, 4.5 starsHow are the visuals and action sequences? The makeup work on mystique looked even worse than in Apocalypse. The CGI looked like something that would have impressed if this came out in the early 2000s. Nate 4, 0.5 starsLoved the fight scenes. It needed more refinement and lacked the finesse of The Avengers. Loved the traditional power hand gestures. Very indicative of mutant powers. Xavier, 2.5 starsCasual moviegoers or those with extra cash will enjoy this. A very decent film with great visuals and special effects. Rohit S., 3 starsHow can you have an X-Men movie and not put the mind-blowing mutant powers on display? That was my only concern. Thanks to the extensive re-shoots, the train sequence has become the best battle in the entire X-Men film series. Uma M., 3.5 stars(Photo by 20th Century Fox)How does it compare to the other X-Men movies?X-Men: Apocalypse wasn t very good. This one was worse. So many deviations, it was ridiculous. James R., 2 starsIt’s better than The Last Stand and Apocalypse. Carlos, 3 starsNot a bad film, but not a good one either. If you were expecting it to be like Avengers, Venom, or like even previous X-Men films, it’s not the same. But it’s not a bad X-Men film, and if you really wanted to see it, or you’re a big X-Men fan, I think you’ll like it. Rohit S., 3 starsIt s not the best X-Men movie, but I think it s a step up from the previous one, and it was enjoyable, even though it felt a bit rushed towards the end. Daniel M., 4 starsBest of X-Men series in a while. Great story and action. Phoenix Rises, 4 starsThe reviews are totally wrong about this one. This was a massive improvement compared to The Last Stand. Jaylon, 4.5 starsIs it a fitting end to the franchise?Sad ending to this franchise. Maybe Disney will do better. Charles, 2 starsFox had an opportunity to let us say goodbye to these characters before the Disney/Fox merger. Instead of a Logan-type ending, we were left with nothing really changing in this world, just like a typical superhero movie. Ryan K., 2.5 starsNot the worst X-Men movie, but not the best way to end the first true superhero movie franchise. Erick, 3.5 starsI do recommend seeing this in theaters, if only because it s a decent enough goodbye to the X-Men franchise we ve known for 19 years and a glimpse of what Marvel will be doing again in, say, 12 years? See you then Darknight Crawler, 4.5 starsCheck out all of the user reviews for Dark Phoenix so far. Like this? hat show’s producers is running the Dirty John series.“There’s this fun, twisted fairy-tale aspect to the story,” Alexandra Cunningham tells Rotten Tomatoes, explaining that her adaptation doesn’t just add visuals, but is actually able to expand on the emotions of the story by dramatizing it. “A lot of things we’ve maintained — the spine and the scaffolding of the story — because they are so compelling and true and heart-wrenching. We put a lot more flesh on some bones.”For instance, Cunningham says she was able to address a concern people who listened to the podcast or read the Los Angeles Times articles had raised: Many listeners thought Debra Newell was “an incredibly stupid woman” for falling for Meehan’s exploitative schtick in the first place.Casting Britton as Newell certainly helped Cunningham combat this perception, and she framed the events in ways that should make viewers more empathetic towards the main character. She was also able to add some more depth to Meehan, who was not a participant in the podcast for reasons that are obvious to anybody who listened to the end. The show can follow Meehan as he goes about whatever dodgy business he was involved in, whereas the non-fiction podcast had to keep the speculation at a distance.“It gives you an even more complete picture of this man and commits you more emotionally than [you would have been] just [reading] the descriptions of what he did in the podcast, since you’re sort of watching them along with him,” Cunningham says. “It’s a point-of-view perspective that the podcast couldn’t do.”Up and Vanished Continues the InvestigationTrue crime might be podcasting’s leading genre, but don’t forget that it’s also been a TV mainstay for decades, dramatized or not. The recent Up and Vanished special, about Tara Grinstead, a teacher and former beauty queen who went missing in Georgia three years ago, is as much a sequel to host Payne Lindsey’s original podcast as it is an adaptation.“Both mediums rely on good storytelling,” Lindsey says of the difference between podcasts and TV. “Even though a podcast is strictly audio, listeners develop their own visuals for the story. It’s kind of a more intimate experience, and sometimes I think it actually makes the audience feel closer to the people involved.”The podcast medium offered Lindsey one thing that TV doesn’t. Because podcasts are typically cheaper and faster to make than TV shows, Up and Vanished was able to generate renewed interest in the case that led to a crucial break in real time.“That would have been a lot harder to do with a television crew on the ground, following a production schedule, along with all of the other elements that make a TV show,” he says. The Future(Photo by Syed family/HBO)The three November podcast-inspired shows are quite different from another, revealing the fundamental wrinkle in any discussion about the future of podcasts on TV: It’s a medium, not single genre.“There’s a spread of genre that makes this a little hard to talk about efficiently,” journalist Quah says. The scripted drama–turned–prestige TV Homecoming is a very different beast than the two true-crime podcasts, even if Dirty John turned from non-fiction to scripted when Bravo dramatized it. There are also improvisational comedy podcasts like Comedy Bang Bang and My Brother My Brother and Me, both of which did their audio counterparts proud on TV (and both of which continue in podcast form, though not on television). Then there are the talk shows-with-a-twist, like Desus Mero and even Bill Simmons’ Any Given Wednesday (to a certain extent), which launched as a result of the hosts’ popular podcasts. There are even more TV adaptations in the works: Crimetown, a non-fiction podcast about corruption in Providence, Rhode Island, is coming to FX, as is the spooky Welcome to the Night Vale. Fantastically popular podcast Serial is getting an HBO documentary, The Case Against Adnan Syed (pictured above), but a scripted television adaptation of the murder-mystery by The LEGO Movie’s Chris Lord and Phil Miller has been in development hell since 2015. Limetown, a scripted horror podcast, will hit Facebook Watch and star Jessica Biel. Some of these shows will be good certainly. Others, maybe not so much. That they began their lives as podcasts doesn’t give them an inherent advantage or disadvantage over any other type of adaptation, aside from maybe being more buzzworthy than other series.“Isn’t it the story that’s more crucial? You wouldn’t say books make good movies — it depends on the book,” Homecoming’s Bloomberg says.Podcasts have a lot of things going for them: They’re cheap to make, generally flexible productions to undertake, and can connect with large audiences in an intimate way. They’re not a guarantee for success on TV, but the right podcast with the right creative team can, ideally, become something new — something that’s more than just a podcast with pictures.“The fundamental thing,” Quah says, “is to create something native to the experience.”
This week s crop of huge TV headlines comes with a little something for everyone: For the comics-obsessed, we finally know who will lead HBO Max s big-budget Green Lantern series; fashionistas get their first look at Netflix s stylish Halston; Law Order fans get a double dose of new Dick Wolf; and Broadway lovers starved for live theater will be treated to a live recording of one of the Great White Way s biggest hits of recent years.Finn Wittrock Will Play Guy Gardner, the Titular Hero of HBO Max’s Green Lantern Series(Photo by Amy Sussman/FilmMagic)American Horror Story and Ratched star Finn Wittrock has signed on to be the headline star of HBO Max’s upcoming Green Lantern series, playing Guy Gardner, a.k.a. the Green Lantern.Greg Berlanti (Arrow), Marc Guggenheim (Arrow), and Seth Grahame-Smith (The Lego Batman Movie) are writing the story, and Grahame-Smith will also be the series showrunner. The official description: “Green Lantern reinvents the classic DC property through a story spanning decades and galaxies, beginning on Earth in 1941 with the very first Green Lantern, secretly gay FBI agent Alan Scott, [to] 1984, with cocky alpha male Guy Gardner and half-alien Bree Jarta. They’ll be joined by a multitude of other Lanterns, from comic book favorites to never-before-seen heroes.”Wittrock, a frequent collaborator of Ryan Murphy, is scheduled to return for Season 2 of Murphy’s Ratched if the show returns for a sophomore season, but THR.com reports that Murphy has agreed to allow Wittrock’s job on Green Lantern to take first priority. Green Lantern is scheduled to begin production this year, and will be the most expensive production of Berlanti s prolific career.Wittrock will also be seen in the recently completed 10th season of American Horror Story, opposite Amanda Seyfried in the big-screen drama A Mouthful of Air, and in the Ben Affleck thriller Deep Water.Gardner’s first comic book appearance was in 1968, and the character was set to star in a Justice League of America TV series in a 1997 pilot starring Matthew Settle that never made it to series status.Amazon’s IMDB TV Announces a Slate of Original Programming, Including New Dick Wolf Drama On Call(Photo by Timothy Hiatt/Getty Images)Dallas, Mad Men, 24, Lost, White Collar, Boston Legal, Little House on the Prairie, Greek, Ugly Betty … IMDB TV’s free streaming TV classics have been one of the true sanity-saving pleasures of the pandemic. On Call will revolve around a pair of police officers in Long Beach, California, with each episode tracking them as they answer a radio call and respond to a new incident. Also upcoming on IMDB TV: three unscripted series. Luke Bryan: My Dirt Road Diary is a five-part series following the country music star; a true-crime docuseries called Bug Out, about the world of exotic insect smugglers and the federal agents on the trails; and Bravo interior designer Jeff Lewis’ first original streaming home design series, with his celebrity clients and personal on full display.IMDB TV has also greenlit High School, based on the bestselling memoir of the same name from musicians Tegan and Sara Quin. The coming-of-age dramedy will be executive produced by the Grammy-nominated, platinum-selling Quin twins and Clea DuVall, who will also write and produce multiple episodes. As for the scripted series in the development stage at IMDB TV, Primo is author Shea Serrano and producer Michael Schur’s coming-of-age comedy about a Mexican-American teen raised by his single mom and five uncles, and inspired by New York Times bestseller Serrano’s own life. Blessed and Highly Favored is a satiric, but sincere comedy about a young woman who returns to her Dallas hometown as a first-time pastor to compete with the local megachurches; Greek Candy is a family comedy co-written by CSI: New York star Melina Kanakaredes and inspired by her Greek family and the decades-old chocolate factory they operated in Akron, Ohio;  and The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh, PA, a comedy about an Indian family and the two years of experiences that led them “to the brink … and their present immigration woes.” It’s written by Vijal Patel (The Middle and Black-ish), and inspired by his own experiences, and directed by Michael Showalter (Search Party).NEW TRAILERS: Ewan McGregor Builds a Fashion Empire and Parties (Hard) at Studio 54 in Netflix Miniseries Halston
You re probably thinking to yourself, Isn t this the third animated family movie about not-so-abominable snowpersons that s been foisted upon me, the unsuspecting average moviegoer, in the last year alone? And you would be correct, dear unsuspecting average moviegoer: Smallfoot hit theaters almost exactly a year ago, we got Missing Link back in mid-April, and this week sees the release of Abominable, from the same studio (as the poster proudly declares) that gave us How to Train Your Dragon. The previous two films were both Certified Fresh, and so far, it looks like Abominable is enjoying a similarly positive reception. Chloe Bennett (Marvel s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) voices a young woman in Shanghai named Yi, who s never fully recovered from losing her father. When she encounters an escaped Yeti hiding out on her rooftop, she and her friends set out on the journey of a lifetime to escort their new friend back to its home on Mt. Everest. In other words, this isn t exactly groundbreaking stuff, as far as storytelling goes, but it hits all of the requisite beats so charmingly that critics find it difficult to resist. Toss in a supporting cast that includes Eddie Izzard and Sarah Paulson, as well as some striking visuals of China s vast and varied landscape, rendered in gorgeously framed cinematography, and Abominable is shaping up to be a pretty solid piece of family entertainment.
With its 21st installment, the Marvel Cinematic Universe finally has its first movie centered around a solo female superhero. And it delivers spectacularly, according to critics who saw Captain Marvel last night. While full reviews are still embargoed, social media reactions on Twitter following the screening highlight Brie Larson’s performance in the title role, the movie’s ‘90s nostalgia, Ben Mendelsohn’s villain, and, most notably, a scene-stealing cat. Here’s what the critics are saying about Captain Marvel:Has Marvel done it again?Captain Marvel is pure joy Devan Coggan, Entertainment WeeklyCaptain Marvel is a blast! 亚博app买球首选 1. A  Sudden PeaceBlood of Elves, the first long-form Witcher novel, begins with all of Ciri’s experiences in season 1 inhabiting the narrative’s past. In the two years between the fall of Cintra and the start of the novel, the northern kingdoms won a war against Nilfgaard and an uneasy peace rules the day.It is possible season 2 will start from this standpoint, with two years passed in the gap between the season 1 finale and the season 2 premiere. But then again, The Witcher plays fast and loose with what it considers important, so the conflict between Nilfgaard and the northern kingdoms may matter to the series as a source of constant conflict.Although, as it happens, the Northern Kings in the books want another war with Nilfgaard in the books, so perhaps a two-year time jump will be The Witcher’s opening salvo as season 2 begins.2. The Hunt For Yennefer(Photo by James Minchin/Netflix)Clearly, Yennefer’s well-being will be of the utmost importance when the show returns. As it stands, she seemingly used all of her chaos to halt the Nilfgaard army. But considering her easy way with portals throughout the season, we expect to find some self-preservation extinct kicked in and transported her far from Sodden Hill. But her disappearance from the battlefield means several interested parties will be searching for her. Fans will no doubt want to see her united with Geralt and Ciri – it is part of the show’s premise after all. And, as it happens, a series can only go so long separating its main characters before viewers get impatient (even if The Witcher saga excels at keeping its principle characters apart). At the same time, The Witcher’s short season orders (just eight episodes!) means it is possible Geralt and Ciri will search throughout the North for her and only succeed in season 2’s final moments.Hopefully, Yennefer will have an interesting story in the interim. Also, both the Nilfgaard mage Fringilla (Mimi Ndiweni) and any surviving members of the Chapter’s task force would likely want to find her as well. She has a legacy, after all, and people will be interested in seeing it serve their ends.3. Training Ciri(Photo by Netflix)Much as how the early short stories outlined the world before Ciri arrived on the scene, season 1 roamed the timeline and offered key pieces of backstory before the main Witcher saga begins. This suggest the real story begins in season 2 with Geralt not chasing after Yennefer – which Ciri’s question about her implies – but instead taking Ciri to Kaer Morhen. It is the home he referenced while dealing with the rotfiend bite and where his novel counterpart takes Ciri in Blood of Elves. At Kaer Morhen, she is trained by several older witchers, including Vesemir, who was mentioned briefly in the later episodes of season 1. Triss Merigold (Anna Shaffer) also becomes her teacher for a time before Ciri relocates to Ellander and, eventually, is taught by Yennefer herself. It’s all exciting material for a novel, but it is easy to think the series will eat a lot of this plot within two or three episodes. Although considering the way it plays with time, it is entirely possible the season will begin with Ciri and Yennefer leaving Ellander and Geralt nowhere to be found, setting up the format of the second season and allowing the flashback structure to highlight Ciri’s education.4. Geralt and Triss?(Photo by Katalin Vermes/Netflix)Back in the books, Triss finds herself drawn to Geralt as their paths cross more and more. In the video game series, players are given the option of perusing more serious and long-term ties with Triss. And considering how much time the games spend on that relationship, we think it is possible the television series will devote some plot to it as well.Granted, Triss was not in the best of shape when we last saw her; she was being cradled by another survivor of the Sodden Hill defense. But we’re inclined to assume anyone who did not die on screen will find a way to mend themselves in the interim between seasons. And should season 2 follow events of Blood of Elves, Triss will be needed at Kaer Morhen. That certainly leaves some time for Geralt to spark an interest in another mage. Or, at least, for her to develop an unrequited attraction.

Naomi Nagata s (Dominique Tipper) old friend and crewmate Cyn (Brent Sexton) steps up to extract her from a shakedown in a bar at Pallas Station in this sneak peek at The Expanse season 5, episode 3, Mother. His colleague Karal (Olunike Adeliyi), however, accuses Naomi of trying to collect the bounty on Naomi s ex/their boss Marco Inaros, who leads a violent faction of the Outer Planets Alliance.Episodes 1-3 of the new season launch on Amazon Prime Video on Wednesday, December 16 with the remainder of the season s 10 episodes released weekly on Wednesdays.

45 Video Game Movies Ranked Worst to BestIt was in 1993 that Hollywood realized the dream of putting a video game movie up on the big screen with Super Mario Bros., and setting the stage for a long legacy of questionable choices, troubled productions, and gamers pixel tears left in their wake. But like the kid who just has to pump in one more quarter to reach for that high score, the studios keep on trying (while the fans just keep on hoping), and we re celebrating that sort of sheer tenacity with this guide to the best video game movies (and plenty of the worst) ranked by Tomatometer! Here, you will find the near-decent (Rampage, Resident Evil), the should ve-been-goods (Assassin s Creed, Warcraft), the ridiculous-but-we-love-thems (Mortal Kombat, Silent Hill), and the ones made by Uwe Boll, who deserves his own category (Alone in the Dark, House of the Dead). We re using a 20-review minimum cutoff for inclusion from theatrical releases only, because it s not just enough to make a questionable movie, critics need to witness the aftermath, too.And in May 2019, Detective Pikachu officially broke the video game curse! Fitting that Nintendo, whose Super Mario Bros. movie started all this trouble, would be the one to end it. And in another surprise 2019 development, the second Angry Birds movie has slingshot the naysayers by racking up plenty of critical praise, toppling Pikachu mere months after its release. Then in 2020, when it didn t seem it had a chili dog s chance in hell, Sonic the Hedgehog to general critics enthusiasm, marking three Fresh video game movies in two years. Monster Hunter at the end of 2020 didn t quite continue the streak. And now we ve added Mortal Kombat! See all the high scores (and lots and lots of the lows) with our guide to 45 video game movies, ranked worst to best!

亚博app买球首选 After all the waiting, there is finally a trailer for the fourth Avengers film, now revealed to be called Avengers: Endgame. But the secrecy around that title extends into the trailer, with its brief glimpses of the post-Infinity War Marvel Cinematic Universe. Nevertheless, we ve pored over the 2:25 trailer to glean some things we now know about Avengers: Endgame. The Title(Photo by Marvel Studios)Endgame itself is something of a revelation, though it was one of the subtitles people have been guessing since Avengers: Infinity War came out earlier this year. And though Infinity War was marketed as being the end of the story begun in the first Avengers film, this appears to be the true conclusion, with the remaining characters trying to piece together some sort of a future or, indeed, a response to Thanos (Josh Brolin). As it happens, Endgame is a pretty popular title in comics. In Marvel s history, it has been used on a number of occasions, notably as the name of an X-Factor storyline featuring Apocalypse and as the title of the story featured in Avengers #71. In the latter instance, a handful of Avengers found themselves in 1941, only to tussle with the Captain America, Namor, and the Human Torch of that era a group collectively known as The Invaders.Which would be a good group name for a coalition seeking to undo what Thanos has wrought. Additionally, many believe time travel will be key to stopping Thanos, so maybe Endgame will feature some sort of trip to previous films.Clint s Traded In His Bow For A Sword(Photo by Marvel Studios)Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) is back in action as we catch a brief glimpse of him cleaning off a sword following a rain-soaked battle. While his choice of weapons might seem strange for those expecting Hawkeye to join the fight, Clint s comic book counterpart did the same thing in the wake of the Civil War storyline to become Ronin.Curiously enough, a young woman named Kate Bishop became Hawkeye during Clint s brief death (long story) and his time as Ronin. But the chances an MCU version of Kate will show up are slim. Also of interest to stories further down the road, Clint was still Ronin when the Skrull secret invasion occurred. Considering the Skrulls are about to become a part of the MCU in Captain Marvel, it may be worth noting whether or not Ronin is a permanent switch.Meanwhile, we ll take MCU Clint s shift to Ronin as confirmation that his family turned to dust during the Snap.Steve Shaved Off His Beard(Photo by Marvel Studios)Okay, this might be a shallow one, but Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) beard inspired as much of a following as Cap does himself. It reflected his status as a fugitive in the period between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. Also, Evans just looks great with a beard. But the loss of the facial hair suggests the film will not pick up immediately after the Snap; instead, it seems some time has passed. How much time remains to be seen, but Black Widow s (Scarlett Johansson) confirmation that Thanos completed his objective to wipe out half the universe would take some time to substantiate. Let s assume she sent Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Rocket (Bradley Cooper) out into the universe to investigate. One theory suggests the MCU has moved in real time between Infinity War and Endgame, with the universe adjusting to the deep losses for a whole year . But others suggest even more time will have passed before Endgame begins. Either way, picking up a ways after the Snap allows the event to have meaning even if the Avengers reverse it.Tony Has The Benatar(Photo by Marvel Studios)Despite his grief, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) has commandeered the Benatar, the ship left behind on Titan by the Guardians. Unfortunately, it seems he has no clue how to navigate it or use its FTL (faster than light) capabilities, as we see him recording a sad message for Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) about his impending doom. Nonetheless, the fact he found a way off Titan is a positive sign, as the Avengers will presumably need an FTL-capable ship to reach Thanos on his quaint garden planet. But it is unclear if Nebula (Karen Gillan) is also aboard. Despite the shot of her remembering the Guardians, Tony s message to Pepper suggests isolation. Are they on the same ship, or did she abandon Tony in the far reaches of space? The latter is certainly a possibility as her thirst for vengeance has no doubt been renewed by her father s success. Also, she would know how to take the ship faster than light, so her absence would explain why Tony is adrift. Then there s the ship Cap and Black Widow are on in the moments before the title reveal. It could be a quinjet or the Benatar, but considering their talk of the plan, they must be in space. Then again, maybe Thor used Stormbringer s Bifrost ability to move a quinjet to their target.Come to think of it, he could use that ability to save Tony. Unless, of course, Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) rescues him first.Scott Escaped The Quantum Realm!(Photo by Marvel Studios)And perhaps in the most appropriate stinger ever featured in a trailer, Cap and Black Widow receive an unexpected visitor at the Avengers HQ the one and only Scott Lang (Paul Rudd)! When we last saw Scott, he was exploring the Quantum Realm as Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) all turned to dust. The Ant-Man and the Wasp stinger scene evoked memories of Infinity War and left the viewer wondering how Scott would escape his pickle. The movie even twisted the knife with a final piece of on-screen text: Ant-Man and the Wasp will return? So, we re happy to see him at full size again. Some suggested his imprisonment in the Quantum Realm would somehow help the Avengers defeat Thanos. But maybe his escape will prove more useful. But really, we just can t wait to hear him explain how he got out while still trying to contain his excitement in working with Cap.Thanks to the trailer s expert editing, there is still plenty we don t know. Will Bruce Banner (Paul Ruffalo) and the Hulk ever reach an accord? Will Captain Marvel come back to Earth? Will the team use time travel and set up a Bill Ted style time hack? And, perhaps more importantly, is the Endgame of the title the one Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) predicted, or something else entirely?Maybe we ll learn some of these answers in the inevitable second trailer. Avengers: Endgame opens on April 26, 2019.
