亚博APP官方入口采用百度引擎0(Baidu 0)(Photo by Sony Pictures/Everett Collection)All Brad Pitt Movies RankedEveryone knows about an early Brad Pitt appearance as the stoner roommate in True Romance, and you might think he spent his formative Hollywood years building a resume of such goofy, secondary parts. But that movie came out in 1993. By 1991 (the same year he played the hitchhiker in Thelma Louise), he was already the title lead in Johnny Suede. Guess you just couldn t keep those looks off-camera; True Romance just showed Pitt could deliver laughs to go with them. The year after, it was truly off the races, with the 1994 double-whammy of Interview with the Vampire and Legends of the Fall. And 1995 saw him in classics of their respective genre: 12 Monkeys and Seven. Then Pitt closed out the decade by re-teaming with Seven director David Fincher for Fight Club, and all of a sudden a lot more dudes were putting posters of him up on their walls.Obviously, Pitt knows a good friendship when he sees one, as some of his best work since has been in the hands of people s he s worked with before. He gotten together with Fincher another time for Curious Case of Benjamin Button; with Steven Soderbergh, he s made three Ocean s movies.Recently, he s drawn high critical marks for Ad Astra and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. He currently has projects in the works with directors Damien Chazelle and David Leitch, but those films are still years off. Until then, we re ranking all Brad Pitt movies by Tomatometer!

January has come and gone, bringing us one legitimate Best Picture contender (1917), one surprise hit (who knew Bad Boys for Life would actually be good?), and a handful of duds, which is pretty much par for the course at this time of year. As we enter the month that celebrates romance, Black history, and American presidents, the movie slate doesn t look like it s going to set the world on fire, but there s still a few notable titles to consider. We ve got the latest DC Comics movie, for starters, and a Cannes Film Festival winner, a video game-based adventure, a children s movie based on a classic novel, and a horror remake. But what did RT users and our fans on social media vote to the top of the list? See below for the most anticipated movies opening in February.1. Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) (2020) 79%3,681 Want-to-See Votes#1 pick by our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter fansOpens February 7Margot Robbie sheds the Suicide Squad for her own marquee film sort of as she takes center stage as Harley Quinn in this DC Comics adaptation. Here, she and her cohort of fierce lady friends (played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, and Rosie Perez) take on a Gotham City crime lord (Ewan McGregor) who s out to get a young girl named Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco). This movie racked up the most Want-to-See votes by far and rocketed to the top of all of our social polls as the most anticipated film of the month, and early word on social media has been overwhelmingly positive. We ll see if the film retains that heat when it opens the first week of February.2. Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) 63%1,650 Want-to-See Votes#2 pick by our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter fansOpens February 14Remember when the first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog premiered and the internet did a collective spit-take at the inexplicably malformed character design? Remember when the studio then backtracked and redesigned Sonic to match the original character more closely? Whether or not it was all a clever marketing ploy (all press is good press, right?) to convince nostalgic moviegoers that the people behind the film were on their side, it s resulted in a fairly healthy anticipation for the film, which finds the blue speedster an alien from another planet teaming up with his newfound human bestie (James Marsden) to take on a gleefully unhinged Jim Carrey in the form of the original game s classic nemesis, Dr. Robotnik. This one also unanimously took second place in all of our social polls and earned the second-most Want-to-See votes on RT.3. Portrait of a Lady on Fire (2019) 98%1,252 Want-to-See Votes#3 pick by our Twitter fans, #4 pick by our Facebook fans, #5 pick by our Instagram fansOpens February 14Sure, the top two vote-getters in February are broadly marketed Hollywood fare, but if there was any doubt that RT users are a diverse group who flock to all sorts of films, this should help alleviate some of it. Earning a spot in the top five in all of our social polls, as well as the third-most Want-to-See votes, is this French romantic drama from celebrated director Céline Sciamma that took home both the Queer Palm and the award for Best Screenplay at the Cannes Film Festival last year. The story follows an artist who is hired to secretly paint the portrait of a reluctant bride-to-be; as the two spend more time together, a growing attraction becomes apparent and threatens to upend both their lives.4. The Invisible Man (2020) 91%1,009 Want-to-See Votes#3 pick by our Facebook and Instagram fans, #4 pick by our Twitter fansOpens February  28H.G. Wells seminal science-fiction novel has been adapted or borrowed from on several occasions since its publication in 1897, most notably in 1933 as part of Universal Pictures stable of monster movies. Now, with the studio s desire to update their classic horror pictures (formerly as part of a Dark Universe ), we re getting a new version starring Elisabeth Moss as a woman who may or may not be imagining the unseen presence of her abusive ex, a brilliant scientist who apparently committed suicide but might have actually discovered a way to turn himself invisible instead. Encouraged by a fairly effective trailer, initially skeptical moviegoers have turned the corner to cautious optimism, making the film February s fourth-most anticipated title.5. The Call of the Wild (2020) 62%1,116 Want-to-See Votes#4 pick by our Instagram fans, #5 pick by our Facebook fansOpens February 21Speaking of celebrated literature brought to the big screen, our last entry on the list adapts a Jack London masterpiece with the help of modern technology. While previous iterations of The Call of the Wild were content to work with live St. Bernards, this film stars a computer-animated Buck alongside Harrison Ford as John Thornton, who encounters the canine hero after he s been dognapped from his domestic life in California and sold as a beast of labor in the Alaskan Yukon. This one made into the top five of our Facebook and Instagram polls, and it earned the fourth most Want-to-See votes of all movies this month.Thumnail image by Warner Bros. PicturesLike this? Subscribe to our newsletter and get more features, news, and guides in your inbox every week. City of God is kinetic and visceral. The active camerawork is gorgeous. City of God really did try to find those moments where we can pause and view these characters without any judgment. No character in City of God is black-and-white. There are moments when, even though we know some of these dudes are ruthless killers, they show us little hints that showcase their youth and make it clear to us that they re still 16-, 17-, 18-years-old at the end of the day. One scene in particular I remember is Li l Zé. He was this ruthless overlord, but he gets turned down at that dance party. And you just see his face where he s smiling at first, and then you just see the embarrassment wash over him. Oh my God! Literally everyone in the world knows that moment; everyone in the world knows what it s like to get rejected. But considering that we ve seen this man brutally kill people at this point, I think it s so interesting how the filmmaker also never intended for you to judge those characters. But he also never wanted to give a romanticized view of their life. He wanted you to fully understand how difficult and horrifying some of those realities can be. City of God is a masterpiece.Really quick though, I also want to take the time, and give a special mention to Ava DuVernay s work. Ava makes the most culturally important work of our time as a filmmaker. 13th is what taught the entire world that we re essentially living in a re-engineered version of slavery. Ava is committed to promoting awareness. Outside of her being an extraordinarily talented filmmaker, she makes incredibly formative and culturally impactful work. I just want to shout her out as well.

He’s a larger-than-afterlife presence, making him an excellent foe for Fraser’s enthusiastic determination. It Shares the Same Exaggerated Gung-Ho Sense of Exploration(Photo by Universal Pictures courtesy Everett Collection)Indiana Jones is a bad archeologist, but he’s an amazing hero. Same with O’Connell and Evie, who are destructive grave robbers even by 1920s standards. That’s not the point of these films, though. The point is to go on an adventure, using the past and exaggerated mysteries of foreign lands as inspiration.Watching O’Connell scream into a decomposing mummy’s face or watching Indy knock a Nazi into some propellers is a hoot, but the battles aren t necessarily what make the films so memorable. It’s the journey into the unknown, following our friendly heroes into archaic, unfamiliar terrain. The matinée serials and pulp magazines both franchises draw from harken back to a very specific era for exploration, one that didn’t ever truly exist as it appears in pop culture, yet feels very nostalgic. The characters of Indiana Jones and The Mummy both live at a turning point of world history, right at the cusp of what we’d recognize as the modern world. It doesn’t seem like there’s much new to discover, so instead, archaeologists Indy and Evie turn to history. And in the world of these films, there’s far more buried in the past than the modern world expects. It’s a romanticism of sorts, one that’s not without its problems, but it makes for an exciting adventure at the crossroads of the past and the present, the intersection of the known world and the unknown. Both The Mummy and Indiana Jones are Way More Violent Than You Might RememberEven though The Mummy is more of an action-adventure romp than a horror movie like its classic predecessor, there are still plenty of scares and suspenseful moments. Indiana Jones operates on a similar level, because it wouldn’t be as exhilarating to see Indy whip his way through danger unless viewers, on some level, really feared that danger. Still, even if you re aware that The Mummy boasts a few scary moments, if you haven’t rewatched it in a while, you might be shocked at just how violent it is.Raiders of the Lost Ark literally melts a dude’s face off during its climax when the Nazis open up the Ark of the Covenant, and who can forget the horrific sight of Mola Ram extracting a still-beating heart from a poor man s chest with his bare hands in Temple of Doom? Taking a page from the same playbook, The Mummy blasts a bunch of excavators with acid, and that’s just a warm-up. Imhotep steals eyes and tongues from his victims, flesh-eating beetles gorge themselves as they crawl beneath the skin of their victims, and there’s plenty of torture. That the movie is technically pretty bloodless only makes the extent of the other gore even more shocking to watch.Raiders of the Lost Ark is infamously rated PG, as the PG-13 rating hadn’t yet been introduced. The Mummy, on the other hand, does sport a PG-13 rating, but in classic Indiana Jones fashion, it pushes the limit. Archaeology is dangerous, violent business, or so these movies would have you think. But for those of us slogging through our decidedly less exciting everyday lives, adventures like The Mummy and the Indiana Jones franchise before it provided thrills and ignited our imaginations like few others did. We don t get a lot of movies like The Mummy any more, and that s perhaps why lots of folks still remember it with unparalleled affection. The Mummy opened in theaters on May 7, 1999.

4. 呼朋唤友 随心所欲
The No. 1 films for the past five weeks going back to the opening of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil have grossed a total of million. This weekend, Disney’s Frozen II surpassed that number. Tracking services went on the defensive after a few weeks of high-end estimates crashed and burned. So they went with a safe 0 million projection for a sequel to the highest-grossing Disney animated film of all-time globally. Audiences responded, “Who are you kidding?”King of the Crop: Frozen II Scores Third-Best Animated Opening of All TimeThursday night, Frozen II had the fourth-best preview for an animated film ever behind Incredibles 2 (.5 million), Toy Story 4 ( million), and Finding Dory (.2 million). Take into account that those were all summer releases with no school Friday morning and Frozen II’s .5 million Thursday is even more impressive. No matter what the season its 7 million opening weekend is mightily impressive. That is the third-best animated opening of all time behind summer releases Incredibles 2 and Finding Dory. The previous best non-summer animated opening was Disney’s Zootopia with .1 million and the holiday season champion was the November release of The Incredibles (.5 million) back in 2004. Five of the eight animated films to open over 0 million went on to gross over 0 million, a feat 2013’s original Frozen managed to accomplish after starting with just .4 million (now the fourth-best November opening ever after last year’s The Grinch). Frozen II’s global haul for the weekend was 0 million as it begins its billion-dollar box office run.Rotten Returns: Cop Thriller 21 Bridges Opens with .2 MillionProfit may be well out of its reach for director Brian Kirk’s 21 Bridges. STX pushed the cop thriller with Chadwick Boseman out of the summer into September, and then moved it away from their big success, Hustlers, into the November slot where it opened with .2 million. Movies this month opening between .8 million–.8 million have averaged a final gross of .1 million and have never grossed higher than Set It Off’s .5 million. That is not good news for the million production. Only four STX films have grossed over million outside of the U.S. and Canada in its five-year history (Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, The Foreigner, Bad Moms, and A Bad Moms Christmas). The studio boasted two 0 million grossers in Hustlers and The Upside this year, but no other film has reached million. Countdown reached million this weekend. The Top 10 and Beyond: A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood Opens Modestly, Primed for Holiday GrowthTom Hanks as Mr. Rogers in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood was not quite the immediate audience grabber that some of us were thinking it would be, but many still hope it will be a slow burn, gaining audiences over the holiday. Though a .5 million start does not give it much chance to be the success many believed it could be. The average gross for a film opening between million– million in November is just .18 million with the high-end achieved by Three Men and a Little Lady (.6 million.) Only four other films this month in that range grossed over million: Jingle All the Way, Scrooged, Bad Santa, and My Girl. The sixth-highest grosser was Men of Honor with .8 million, and Arthur Christmas (3,376) was the only film of the 30 on this list to open in more theaters than Neighborhood (3,235).Last week’s No. 1, Ford v Ferrari dropped nearly 50 percent with million this week, bringing its total up to just under million after 10 days of release, roughly the same amount that Dumb and Dumber To reached in 2014, though it only made .1 million in its second go-round. Todd Phillips’ Due Date earned about .1 million more by this same point, made about 0,000 less than FvF in weekend two, and barely surpassed 0 million domestically. A 0 million goal means, however, that FvF will need an international haul of 0 million to break even between production and advertising costs. It currently stands at .8 million. Meanwhile, Phillips’ Joker continues to climb the all-time worldwide chart with almost 7 million domestic and 8 million international for a total of .036 billion, passing Despicable Me 3 for 36th place overall.A large group of disappointments and outright failures unfortunately make up the rest of the Top 10. At .2 million after 17 days, Roland Emmerich’s Midway has grossed less than last year’s Disney failure The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, which finished with just .8 million. Even with international assistance, Midway still has not reached 0 million, which is what its production alone cost and making it one of the biggest losers of 2019. Playing with Fire and Last Christmas are still on pace for what we reported last week around million and million, respectively. And if anyone on their holiday box office card had The Good Liar making a run to outgross Charlie’s Angels, you have an appointment in Vegas. The Helen Mirren–Ian McKellen thriller is not exactly lighting things up with .7 million total to date, but it did stay steady in 7th place, while the Angels dropped back to 9th place with just .9 million total and is unlikely to hit even million. Midway is still going to take a bigger hit on the books than Elizabeth Banks’ reboot or Mike Flanagan’s Doctor Sleep, which fell out of the Top 10 in its third weekend with just million to date, so keep that in perspective.Todd Haynes’ Dark Waters made a decent splash with 0,000 in four theaters. That amounts to the 17th-best per-theater-average of the year and the 7th-best of launches in four theaters. Also in limited release, Amazon’s Honey Boy expanded into 44 theaters this weekend and grossed 9,000. That is a bit better than Whiplash moving into 46 theaters in its third week and grossing 8,313, but is less than Anamolisa grossed going from 17-to-37 theaters (5,364) and ultimately finished with .61 million. Honey Boy has made 9,677. Both Jojo Rabbit and Parasite lost screens for the first time in their runs. They have grossed .1 and .5 million, respectively. Lulu Wang’s The Farewell still leads all releases in 2019 that did not expand to over 1,000 theaters with .6 million. Both films are in position to pass it.This Time Last Year: Sequel Fever Took Hold with Ralph Breaks the Internet, Creed II, and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of GrindelwaldIt was the Thanksgiving holiday and three sequels led the five-day stretch starting with the one-two punch of Ralph Breaks the Internet (. 8 million) and Creed II ( million). Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald finished third with .4 million and crossed the 0 million mark to 6.6 million; though the film would go on to make only another million total. The Grinch was right behind in fourth with .1 million, and Bohemian Rhapsody may have fallen back to fifth with .5 million, but it also crossed the 0 million line. One of the biggest bombs of the year in Lions Gate’s Robin Hood grossed a paltry .3 million and would eventually squeeze out just over million. From Friday-to-Sunday the box office grossed a total of 3.8 million. Add in Wednesday and Turkey Day and the 5-day total rose to 8.6 million, the largest ever for the holiday. The Top 10 films also averaged 64.8% on the Tomatometer compared to this year’s Top 10, which averaged 60.5% with critics. This week’s pre-Thanksgiving total amounted to 7.52 Million. On the Vine: Knives Out for ThanksgivingRian Johnson introduces a little mystery into the holiday season with the critically acclaimed Knives Out. At 97% on the Tomatometer, the film is the best-reviewed title to date to come out of the fall festival circuit and is expected to become one of the big crowd-pleasers to close out 2019. It grossed million at 7 p.m. preview screenings on Friday and Saturday in 936 venues. Melina Matsoukas and Lena Waithe’s outlaw justice road movie Queen Slim, starring Daniel Kaluuya and Jodie-Turner Smith, is also doing well early with critics. Will critical support help influence its award chances more than its box office prospects for such a heavy drama during a more family-oriented time? The Full Top 10: November 22-24Frozen II (2019) 78% – 7 million (7 million total)Ford v Ferrari (2019) 92% – million (.98 million total)A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (2019) 95% – .5 million (.5 million total)21 Bridges (2019) 54% – .3 million (.3 million total)Midway (2019) 42% – .7 million (.1 million total)Playing With Fire (2019) 24% – .61 million (.62 million total)The Good Liar (2019) 63% – .37 million (.76 million total)Charlie's Angels (2019) 52% – .17 million (.94 million total)Last Christmas (2019) 46% – .04 million (.79 million total)Joker (2019) 68% – .82 million (6.93 million total)

7.80.1 4月喜迎More than 30 years after publication, and more than 25 years following the first adaptation, Stephen King’s massive novel It was turned into the highest-grossing horror movie of all time — and with an 86% on the Tomatometer, it’s one of the best-reviewed releases in the genre, as well. It (now known as It: Chapter One) left its sequel with some pretty big shoes to fill — appropriate for a movie about a clown. Can the highly anticipated It: Chapter Two satisfy sky-high expectations? According to many of the first reactions from critics and entertainment journalists on social media, not quite, though it makes a mighty – and scary – effort. For others, though, a set of excellent performances (particularly from Bill Hader), some genuinely creepy set pieces, and a mountain of ambition make the trip back to Derry worthwhile. Here’s what critics are saying about It: Chapter Two:Is this another great IT movie?“It: Chapter Two is awesome…Congrats to everyone that worked on it for a job well done.” Steven Weintraub, Collider

(Photo by Murray Close/TM and Copyright ©20th Century Fox Film Corp. All rights reserved./courtesy Everett Collection)All James McAvoy Movies RankedJames McAvoy got his start in British comedies and dramas, working in ensembles like Bright Young Things and TV s Shameless, while taking the lead early in Starter for 10. His role as hirsute satyr Mr. Tumnus in The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe got him major exposure, and an in with the young crowd. McAvoy started to pick up awards attention while on the peripheral in the Forrest Whitaker-starring The Last King of Scotland, a fitting fate considering the observer character he played in that Idi Amin biopic. The Best Picture-nominated Atonement quickly followed. But it was his role in the raucous Wanted that proved his breakthrough, and that maybe McAvoy could hack it in action blockbuster world. This led to his most iconic role yet, that of Professor X as the X-Men sidewined into the past with First Class. His matchup against Michael Fassbender s Magneto remains among the most engaging hero/villain feuds in superhero cinema. 2019 was one of his busier years, appearing in three movies, all sequels wrapping up their franchises: Dark Phoenix, IT Chapter Two, and Glass. With that, we re ranked all James McAvoy movies by Tomatometer!
This week s Ketchup brings you more headlines from the world of film development news, covering such titles as Creed III, Firestarter, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2.This WEEK S TOP STORYIP MAN S DONNIE YEN JOINS JOHN WICK CHAPTER 4(Photo by Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/Getty Images)John Wick (Certified Fresh at 86%) could have just been a very well-produced action revenge thriller, but the film s star Keanu Reeves, director Chad Stahelski, and screenwriter Derek Kolstad figured out a winning formula has has led to sequels and even a spinoff series focused on its secret world of assassins. Production on John Wick: Chapter 4 has been held back a little bit by both the COVID-19 pandemic (and scheduling conflicts with Reeves other upcoming #4 sequel, The Matrix 4, scheduled for 12/22/2021), but the pieces are finally coming together for filming to happen at locations in France, Germany, and Japan this summer. Just last week, we learned that pop star Rina Sawayama will make her acting debut in a lead role in John Wick: Chapter 4, and now we know about another big addition to the cast. Hong Kong superstar Donnie Yen has recently increased his Hollywood profile with roles in films like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Certified Fresh at 84%) and Disney s live-action Mulan (Certified Fresh at 72%), and next, he will co-star in John Wick: Chapter 4  as an old friend of Wick s who shares many of his experiences and enemies. John Wick: Chapter 4 is currently scheduled for May 27, 2022. Finally, in what is probably a coincidence, both Donnie Yen and Keanu Reeves have been rumored in recent years to be in consideration for the role of Marvel s Namor the Sub-Mariner, with Yen even Tweeting this audition picture. Marvel Studios has made no official Namor announcements.Other Top Headlines1. ISSA RAE JOINS INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE SEQUEL AS SPIDER-WOMAN (Photo by Elizabeth Goodenough/Everett Collection)Some weeks reveal certain trends in development news, and this week, the theme involves stars on the upswing landing big new projects with the potential of expanding their careers. Let s start with Issa Rae, whose popular YouTube series Awkward Black Girl led to the acclaimed HBO series Insecure (Fresh at 96%), which likewise led to a supporting role in The Hate U Give (Certified Fresh at 97%) and lead roles in The Photograph (Fresh at 74%), and The Lovebirds (Fresh at 65%). Issa Rae will also provide the voice of Jessica Drew, AKA Spider-Woman, in the upcoming sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (Certified Fresh at 97%) as the sequel s first new cast member. It is not yet known if Rae might also be in the running to play the role also suspected to be Jessica Drew in the untitled female-centric Spider-Man spinoff that director Olivia Wilde is currently developing (though it s also worth noting that there have been a few different Marvel heroes all called Spider-Woman). The Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel is currently scheduled for release on October 7, 2022. Although Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld are both confirmed to be returning, other stars like Nicolas Cage (as Spider-Man Noir) and John Mulaney (as Peter Porker/Spider-Ham) haven t yet been announced.2. DWAYNE JOHNSON AND YAHYA ABDUL-MATEEN II TEAM UP FOR EMERGENCY CONTACT (Photo by Priscilla Grant, Elizabeth Goodenough/Everett Collection)Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is not yet a household name, but his face is becoming more and more familiar following breakout roles in two DC Comics projects, first as the villain Black Manta in Aquaman (Fresh at 65%), and then as nope-we re-not-spoiling-it in HBO s Watchmen (Fresh at 96%). Roles in US and The Trial of the Chicago 7 will also soon be followed by performances in the Candyman reboot (8/27/2021), The Matrix 4 (12/22/2021), and Aquaman 2 (12/16/2022) (for which he is currently preparing). Abdul-Mateen II and Dwayne Johnson are teaming up to produce an action movie set in Austin, Texas for Warner Bros. called Emergency Contact, in which Abdul-Mateen II will also star (it s not yet known if Johnson will have a supporting role, but it sounds like he s not the film s star). The premise of Emergency Contact is being kept secret for now, except that it s a high-concept, high-octane action film set in Austin, and that the screenwriters also worked with Dwayne Johnson on his upcoming DC Comics movie Black Adam (7/29/2022).3. SAMARA WEAVING LEADS NEW ADDITIONS TO CAST OF DAMIEN CHAZELLE S BABYLON(Photo by Priscilla Grant/Everett Collection)Damien Chazelle, who won an Academy Award for directing La La Land (Certified Fresh at 91%), and who also directed Whiplash (Certified Fresh at 94%) and First Man (Certified Fresh at 87%), has been trying to get his movie Babylon about Hollywood in the 1920s going for a few years now (much of that delay was caused by COVID-19, obviously). Babylon is going to feature a large ensemble cast led by Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie, which will now also include Samara Weaving (Ready or Not), Max Mingella (The Social Network), Lukas Haas (Witness), Eric Roberts (The Pope of Greenwich Village), and rocker-turned-actor Flea of the band Red Hot Chili Peppers. Katherine Waterston, who co-starred with Joaquin Phoenix in Inherent Vice, also joined Babylon in a separate announcement. Paramount Pictures has scheduled Babylon for a limited release on December 25, 2022 which will then platform to a wide release on January 6, 2023.4. ROBERT DE NIRO, ANYA TAYLOR-JOY, CHRIS ROCK, AND TAYLOR SWIFT AMONG NEW ADDITIONS TO DAVID O. RUSSELL S LATEST ENSEMBLE (Photo by JA/Everett Collection)Another director who is assembling an ambitious ensemble for his next project is David O. Russell, whose last film six years ago was the 2015 Miracle Mop movie Joy, starring Jennifer Lawrence. We ve known for a while now that the leads in his next film will be Christian Bale and Margot Robbie, supported by John David Washington, Rami Malek, and Zoe Saldana. This week, however, the cast list sort of ballooned to include Robert De Niro, Mike Myers, Alessandro Nivola, Timothy Olyphant, Andrea Riseborough, Chris Rock, Matthias Schoenaerts, Michael Shannon, Anya Taylor-Joy, and pop singer Taylor Swift, in a relatively rare acting performance (Swift s first since Cats). Both the premise and the title of this film are currently being kept secret by 20th Century Studios. Having said that, past reports have described the lead characters as being a doctor and a lawyer who form an unlikely partnership. 5. JONATHAN MAJORS TO PLAY ADONIS NEXT OPPONENT IN CREED III(Photo by The Washington Post/Getty Images)Even lifelong Rocky fans probably have to admit that the franchise was seriously struggling before it was revived in 2015 with the spinoff Creed (Certified Fresh at 95%), which turned the focus towards Adonis Creed, the son of Rocky s friend Apollo, as played by Michael B. Jordan. That film was followed by Creed II (Certified Fresh at 83%), in which Creed squared off against another son of a famous boxer, Ivan Drago, who killed Apollo in Rocky IV (Rotten at 40%). We don t yet know the premise for Creed III (with which Michael B. Jordan will make his feature film directorial debut), but we do now know that Adonis new boxing opponent will be played by Jonathan Majors of HBO s Lovecraft Country. As expected, fans were quick to speculate about who Majors might play, with the most common guess being the son (or some other relative) of Clubber Lang, who was played in Rocky III (Fresh at 63%) by Mr. T, whose last major role was over 10 years ago in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (Certified Fresh at 86%). It is not yet known how the recent acquisition of MGM by Amazon might impact the theatrical release of Creed III.6. TIFFANY HADDISH TO PORTRAY FLORENCE GRIFFITH JOYNER IN NEW BIOPIC(Photo by Michele K. Short/Universal Pictures)The recent career of Tiffany Haddish has been so prolific and ubiquitous that it might be easy to forget that her breakout role in Girls Trip (Certified Fresh at 91%) came just four years ago in 2017. Haddish hasn t had that much time to expand into other genres besides comedy, but she is indeed taking her shot at an ambitious dramatic role that will also require (ostensibly) a good amount of physical personal training, as she is producing and will star in a biopic about the life of three-time Olympic gold medalist Florence Griffith Joyner, popularly known as Flo-Jo. Florence Griffith Joyner (who died in 1998) was an American track and field athlete who in 1988 set still-standing world records in both the 100 meter and 200 meter dash, and then retired less than a year later. Tiffany Haddish will also be producing a documentary series about Flo-Jo as a companion to the narrative feature.7. GLENN CLOSE JOINS TWINS-STYLE COMEDY BROTHERS(Photo by Sony Pictures Classics)A little over a year ago, The Weekly Ketchup reported Avengers: Infinity War co-stars Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage were signed to co-star in a Twins-style comedy called Brothers for director Macon Blair (I Don t Feel At Home in This World Anymore, Certified Fresh at 89%). Before we get to this week s actual news, this is a good place to remind everyone that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now so big that its list of illustrious alumni is massive. That being said, yes, Brothers is going to feature another MCU star, and that will be Glenn Close, who appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy (Certified Fresh at 92%) as the leader of the Nova Corps. Close s role in Brothers isn t yet known, but an obvious guess is that she could be playing the mother of the two siblings played by Brolin and Dinklage. (Collider also pointed out that Glenn Close did play the mother of Ed Helms and Owen Wilson in the similarly-titled Father Figures in 2017.)8. IT: CHAPTER TWO ALUM JOINS REBOOT OF STEPHEN KING ADAPTATION FIRESTARTER(Photo by Michael Tran/Getty Images)One of the more memorable kills in IT: Chapter Two (Fresh at 62%) is the moment when a young girl is pulled under the bleachers by Pennywise the evil clown. That girl was played by 8-year-old Ryan Kiera Armstrong, who is now 11, and she has been cast as the lead in another Stephen King adaptation, the reboot of Firestarter, which was first adapted as a 1984 movie (Rotten at 37%) starring Drew Barrymore. The announcement of Armstrong s casting came along with a set photo of Armstrong in character, wearing a jacket that looks like it might have been in or around, you know, a fire. Armstrong joins a cast that includes the already announced Zac Efron as her father (originally played by David Keith) and Michael Greyeyes as the Native American government agent assigned to befriend her (controversially played by George C. Scott in the original film). Former ER star Gloria Reuben also landed a Firestarter role this week.9. ALICIA SILVERSTONE RETURNS TO HIGH SCHOOL IN REBEL WILSON COMEDY SCHOOL YEAR(Photo by ©Paramount Pictures courtesy Everett Collection)It has been over 25 years since the now-classic teen comedy Clueless (Certified Fresh at 81%), and the career of its star Alicia Silverstone has taken her a lot of places, including Gotham City as Batgirl (Batman Robin, Rotten at 12%). Silverstone, now 44, is signed to return to high school (sort of) in the Paramount Players high school comedy Senior Year. Rebel Wilson will star in Senior Year as a cheerleader who wakes up from a coma after 20 years to return to her high school to regain her status and claim the prom queen crown that eluded her. 亚博APP官方入口 Six men, 26 movies, billions in box office receipts, countless Martinis: when it comes to 007, it’s been a journey. In our latest episode of Vs., supervillain/superhost Mark Ellis is pitting James Bond vs. James Bond (vs. James Bond, and on and on) to decide who was the best of cinema’s bed-hopping British spies. Will it be Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, or current Bond, Daniel Craig? (OK, it’s probably not gonna be Lazenby – though we only have love for On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.) The Bond boys battle it out over box office, Audience and Tomatometer Scores, the quality of their villains, and one wildcard round, before Ellis puts himself square in the cross hairs and declares a winner. Don’t agree with the ultimate decision? Slice him up with laser beams, feed him to the sharks, or… you know… let us know with a thoughtful argument in the comments. On an Apple device? The 93rd Academy Awards were unlike any other we ve witnessed in recent memory or possibly ever before as the ceremony was structured to accommodate social distancing measures brought about by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The result was an unusually intimate, subdued ceremony filled with personal anecdotes and touching tributes. Of course, that doesn t mean things didn t get a little wacky from time to time ( Glenn Close doin Da Butt is officially a thing now), and there were still plenty of larger-than-life moments, from incredible musical performances and tear-filled dedications to laugh-out-loud one-liners and groundbreaking milestones.Recommended: Full List of Winners from the 2021 Academy AwardsRecommended: The Biggest Snubs and Surprises of the 2021 Oscar NominationsRecommended: All the Winners of the 2020 Golden Tomato AwardsThings started with a bang, as H.E.R. performed an amazing rendition of her Oscar-winning song Fight For You before the ceremony started and Regina King kicked off the festivities by entering Los Angeles iconic Union Station in a stunning single tracking shot as the credits rolled. From there, we got tear-filled dedications, inspirational speeches, laugh-out-loud one-liners, and groundbreaking milestones. Read on for the biggest moments of the 2021 Oscars.H.E.R. Delivers Showstopping Performance of “Fight For You” Before Winning Best Original SongThose expecting to see the much hyped-up pre-recorded performances of this year’s Best Song nominees during the show were likely disappointed to learn that the five songs were actually shown during ABC’s pre-show. The standout performance was also the final performance: H.E.R.’s rousing rendition of “Fight for You” from Judas and the Black Messiah, which incorporated archival footage and a battery of dancers to deliver a chills-inducing moment just minutes before the start of the ceremony. The song went on to win Best Original Song in the ceremony proper.Regina King Enters in Epic One-ShotWe were told in the lead-up to tonight’s ceremony that Steven Soderbergh and his co-producers wanted the night to play out like a film – and the first minutes of the broadcast delivered on that promise. Bringing to mind those famous opening moments of Goodfellas, a single camera shot tracked Regina King – her Oscar firmly in hand – as she walked into LA’s Union Station, through its cavernous hall, and onto the stage. Throughout the entire shot, cinematic credits announced the various presenters (“starring…”). King kicked things off by marking the conviction of Derek Chauvin earlier this week: Now, I know that a lot of you people at home wanna reach for your remote when you feel like Hollywood is preaching to you, but as a mother of a Black son, I know the fear that so many live with, and no amount of fame or fortune changes that, OK? Thomas Vinterberg Pays Moving Tribute to His DaughterUpon winning the Oscar for Best International Film for Another Round, director Thomas Vinterberg began his acceptance speech as anyone might expect, thanking the appropriate parties who supported the film and those with whom he worked directly on it, including the four main actors at the heart of the story. But midway through his speech, Vinterberg recounted how, four days into shooting the film, he lost his daughter Ida in a tragic auto accident. As he paused and wiped tears from his face, Vinterberg collected himself and explained how she had read the script two months prior to production and was glowing with excitement about the film, in which she was originally supposed to appear. Vinterberg closed by dedicating the film to Ida, saying, If anyone dares to believe that she s here with us somehow, you ll be able to see her clapping and cheering with us Ida, this is a miracle that just happened, and you are part of this miracle. Maybe you ve been pulling some strings somewhere; I don t know. But this one is for you. Daniel Kaluuya Embarrasses His FamilyAfter missing out on the Best Actor Oscar back in 2018, Daniel Kaluuya became the sixth Black actor to win Best Supporting Actor at the Academy Awards on Sunday night. Speaking off the cuff, Kaluuya thanked the usual folks and gushed about his collaborators while his mother and sister, both in attendance at LA s Union Station, looked on. As he wound up his acceptance speech with some inspirational words about Fred Hampton, the ico Back in 2004, Guillermo del Toro had arguably his first true mainstream success with an adaptation of a Mike Mignola comic series about a half-demon superhero with a dark sense of humor; that movie was Certified Fresh and went on to spawn an even better-reviewed sequel. Fifteen years later, we get a reboot of the character, with Stranger Things David Harbour taking over for Ron Perlman in the title role, and the reviews have been less than kind. Neil Marshall, the director behind celebrated fan-favorite horror flick The Descent, steps behind the camera here, recounting Hellboy s origins and setting him against a centuries-old sorceress who just wants to make demon babies with him and rule the world. Unfortunately, critics say Hellboy certainly earns its R rating, but not necessarily in the right ways, mistaking F-bombs and mindless gore for humor and imagination. It s an unfortunate reimagining of a normally fun character that strands him in a messy, poorly constructed story, then drowns him in blood and severed limbs and hopes the audience won t notice.

亚博APP官方入口 ency — has the moth away from the heroine s mouth as if she’s now allowed to speak.Even though the show is a period piece, Breeds said that this image is “representative of the time we re in.”“It s not that the moths aren t there,” Breeds said. “The traumas in our experience are still present as women in the workforce — with gender and race particularly. We go into [those issues] a lot on the show. It s not that the trauma isn t there. It s just, we re not silenced by it anymore.”(Photo by Brooke Palmer / CBS)Clarice also has a friend in the series, Devyn A. Tyler’s Ardelia Mapp, who happens to be Black — but whom Lumet has stressed will not be a “black best friend” stereotype. Tyler’s character is not just the “girl on the phone,” Breeds said.“She s not just the one in the basement, doing the background work that pops up every now and then when we need her,” Breeds added. “We talk about her not wanting to be relegated to the basement in the show. And she says what we re all thinking.”There are some things about Clarice’s history that cannot be undone. One is the character’s West Virginia dialect — something Dr. Lecter notes in Lambs that she’s “tried so desperately to shed.” Breeds said she had no idea what it meant when her audition script had the note “with a hint of Appalachia,” and her husband, actor Luke Mitchell, originally advised her to skip it and just do an American accent.(Photo by Brooke Palmer/CBS)After practicing the regional dialect, “it just kind of worked in my mouth, Breeds said. It just felt really right to me. And not only that, it really brought the character home for me.”It also helps her shed the character at the end of the day, Breeds said, because “it s not just an accent. It s a culture, it s an upbringing. It s a childhood that informs so much of who she is.”Another ghost from Clarice s past appearing in the series is Catherine Martin, the woman she rescues from Buffalo Bill’s clutches in Lambs. Played by Brooke Smith in the film, Catherine is now played by Marnee Carpenter.“Catherine could be Clarice if Clarice wasn t so stubborn in not letting her trauma get to her,” Breeds said. “Catherine is the dark side of the way our trauma can take us over. And it s everything Clarice is fighting against, but it s also haunting her. Because deep down, being a very intelligent woman, she knows that suppressing and avoiding trauma is not dealing with it. It s only suppressing it. And eventually it s going to come out and get you.”(Photo by Brooke Palmer/CBS)The most enticing adversary of all is not planned to have an impact on Clarice’s television longevity. Due to complicated licensing deals, the character Hannibal Lecter will not appear in  the series — even if he is vaguely mentioned. (The opposite problem plagued creator Bryan Fuller s NBC series, Hannibal, which — ironically enough — also shot in Toronto. Breeds said some of Clarice’s crew members have worked on both shows, but she s not sure if they ve filmed in any of the same locations.)Despite being a sadist cannibal who is both on the loose and who knows a ton of personal information about our heroine, Breeds said the madman is barely a blip on the radar.“It is the ghost of her trauma from her childhood that she needs to deal with, more than she needs to deal with Dr. Lecter,” she said. “He was just a part of the process that is triggering her to go back to the real demons that are in her life.”Clarice premieres February 11 on CBS.
