亚博游戏主页采用百度引擎4(Baidu 2)This week s Ketchup brings you more headlines from the world of film development news, covering such titles as Dungeons Dragons, Hello Kitty, and Searching 2.This WEEK S TOP STORYALEJANDRO GONZÁLEZ IÑÁRRITU HAS BEGUN FILMING HIS NEXT PROJECT(Photo by ©Roadside Attractions courtesy Everett Collection)Getting a feature film produced is difficult enough, even without the spectre of the COVID-19 pandemic looming over society for the past year or so. Just over five years ago at the 88th Academy Awards, Alejandro González Iñárritu won the Oscar for Best Director for The Revenant (Certified Fresh at 78%), which also won Best Cinematography and Best Actor for Leonardo DiCaprio, and this week, Iñárritu was finally able to start filming his first feature film in the five-plus years since. The project, called Limbo, is now filming on location in Mexico City. Iñárritu also wrote the film, which doesn t yet have an official synopsis, except that it explores the political and social modernity of Mexico. Iñárritu s choice to film in Mexico City following his Hollywood success with The Revenant could also be compared to Alfonso Cuaron s Roma (Certified Fresh at 95%), which was filmed in Mexico City following his own Hollywood success with Gravity (Certified Fresh at 95%). No casting announcements have been made yet for Limbo.Other Top Headlines1. J.J. ABRAMS HIRES FIRST FEMALE STAR TREK FEATURE SCREENWRITER(Photo by Paramount Pictures)It was just last week that producer J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot production company hired award-winning writer Ta-Nehisi Coates to work on the new Superman reboot (featuring an actor of color as the lead, for a historic first). This week, Abrams moved forward with another first as Bad Robot has hired screenwriter Kalinda Vasquez to work on the next Star Trek feature film. This project should not be confused with the Star Trek that Quentin Tarantino was announced as partnering with Abrams and Bad Robot in 2017 (as that one appears to have cooled down in the years since). If Vasquez s work on this project makes it to production, she will become the first woman ever to write a Star Trek feature film. In addition to serving as executive producer on shows like Runaways, Star Trek: Discovery, Once Upon a Time, and Fear the Walking Dead, Kalinda Vasquez has also written episodes of all of those shows, plus four episodes of Prison Break and seven episodes of Nikita. It is not yet known if her Star Trek project will introduce a new cast or use one of the previous casts (like say, the Kelvin crew of Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, etc.) Paramount Pictures does not currently have any Star Trek feature films on the studio s release schedule.2. ANNETTE BENING TO PORTRAY RECORD-BREAKING SWIMMER DIANA NYAD (Photo by Suzanne Tenner/©Focus Features)Diana Nyad is a record-breaking long distance swimmer whose accomplishments include swimming from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage, swimming from Jamaica to Florida, and swimming around the island of Manhattan in under 8 hours. Nyad s amazing life is now set to be adapted as the biopic Nyad, with four-time Academy Award nominee Annette Bening attached to star. Nyad will mark the narrative feature film directorial debut of the team of Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, who won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature for their 2018 documentary Free Solo (Certified Fresh at 98%), which depicted a similar form of endurance sport (free solo mountain climbing). Nyad is being adapted from her autobiography Find a Way, with filming expected to start sometime this summer.3. RUSSELL CROWE TO STAR AS ABSTRACT ARTIST MARK ROTHKO (Photo by © Universal Pictures)There have obviously been dozens of biopics about famous painters, but so far, we have relatively few to date about abstract painters (Pollock, Certified Fresh at 80% starring Ed Harris, is a notable exception). That field will soon expand as the life of artist Mark Rothko is about to be portrayed by Russell Crowe in Rothko. Mark Rothko is best known for his color field paintings of large fields of bright colors in squares or rectangles. Rothko will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey, Nowhere Boy). The Rothko cast will include Irish actress Aisling Fraciosi (as Rothko s daughter), Jared Harris, Michael Stuhlbarg, and the director s husband Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Pietro from Marvel s Avengers: Age of Ultron). Adapted from the book The Legacy of Rothko by Lee Seldes, Rothko will focus on the protracted legal dispute between Kate Rothko and the painter’s estate executors and the directors of his gallery, Marlborough Fine Art, which you can read more about here.4. MELISSA MCCARTHY TO PORTRAY MAJOR MARVEL VILLAIN IN THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER SORT OF (Photo by Hopper Stone/©Columbia Pictures)Some of the funniest surprises in Taika Waititi s Thor: Ragnarok (Certified Fresh at 93%) came early in the film when we first saw some Asgardian actors depicting the events of earlier Thor movies, including Matt Damon as Loki, Sam Neill as Odin, and Chris Hemsworth s brother Luke Hemsworth as Thor. There has been a fair amount of new coverage of actors like Matt Damon returning to Australia for filming of the fourth movie, Thor: Love and Thunder (5/6/2022), but this week, we actually heard about someone new. Several photos have emerged online this week of comedic actress Melissa McCarthy in costume on the sets in Australia as the villainous character Hela, as portrayed by Cate Blanchett in Thor: Ragnarok, with the other actors-playing-actors like Matt Damon also on set with McCarthy. In similar news, we also learned this week that the upcoming sports comedy sequel Space Jam: A New Legacy (7/6/2021) will also feature cameo appearances by some of Warner Bros other film properties, including Batman, Mad Max, and Casablanca.5. THIS WEEK IN MUSICAL BIOPICS: BOB MARLEY, AND ROBBIE WILLIAMS (AS A MONKEY?)  (Photo by Everett Collection)Although both films are now a few years old, the box office successes of Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman (Certified Fresh at 89%) continue to have a ripple effect on other musical biopics getting produced. That includes musical biopic projects which have languished in development for years, or in some cases, decades. The life story of famed reggae musician Bob Marley is one such example. Paramount Pictures is finally getting closer to production with the news this week that the studio has hired director Reinaldo Marcus Green, who comes to the Bob Marley biopic even as he continues work on another biographical film, King Richard, about the father (played by Will Smith) of future tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams. In a sad coincidence, the movement on the Bob Marley biopic comes in the same week that saw the passing of Marley s musical partner Bunny Wailer at the age of 73. British pop star Robbie Williams is also getting a biopic called Better Man to be directed by Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman). In a bizarre revelation, this week, Deadline reported that the role of Robbie Williams will be portrayed by a CGI monkey, apparently, quite seriously.6. DUNGEONS DRAGONS MOVIE CASTS DETECT EVIL SPELL ON HUGH GRANT (Photo by Jay Maidment/©Warner Bros. Pictures)Actor Jeremy Irons has had a film career with many great heights, but one of his lowest lows may have come in 2000, when he starred as the evil villain in the first Dungeons Dragons feature film (Rotten at 10%). One has to speculate that Hugh Grant is hoping for a better result with his decision this week to take the role of the main villain (called Forge Fletcher) in the new Dungeons Dragons movie (5/27/2022). Sophia Lillis, who has recently starred as both Nancy Drew and Beverly in the IT movies, has also take a role as a character named Doric (neither of these names seem to point towards popular characters from existing D D stories). This new Dungeons Dragons reboot is being written and directed by the team of Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, who also collaborated on Game Night (Certified Fresh at 85%). It is not yet known if the Dungeons Dragons movie will be set entirely in a fantasy world, or if some part of it might also depict real world players. Hugh Grant and Sophia Lillis are joining a cast which already includes Regé-Jean Page (Bridgerton), Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, and Justice Smith.7. WRINKLE IN TIME STAR STORM REID MAY GET LOST IN SEARCHING 2 (Photo by Priscilla Grant/Everett Collection)Although it wasn t a box office blockbuster, the independent social media mystery drama Searching (Certified Fresh at 92%) was still a surprise hit relative to its budget. Jon Cho and Michelle La starred as father and daughter in the first Searching, but apparently for the upcoming sequel, a new cast is being sought as the formula will be applied to a new family and setting. We don t know specifically how different or similar the sequel s premise will be, so we have relatively little to guess on, but we can report that 17 year old actress Storm Reid is now in talks for a lead role in Searching 2. Reid made her feature film debut in 12 Years a Slave, had the lead role in A Wrinkle in Time, and is also one of Zendaya s co-stars in HBO s Euphoria.8. HELLO KITTY FINALLY GETTING HER BIG SHOT AT THE MEOW-VIES (Photo by Saban International courtesy Everett Collection)The Japanese design company Sanrio has had over 45 years of success with their popular Hello Kitty character, including in the United States, but for the most part, attempts to carry Hello Kitty over in formats like TV or the movies have not taken off outside of Japan. Back in October of 2019, we reported that New Line Cinema had acquired the film rights to Hello Kitty, but we hadn t heard much since then. This week, we finally got confirmation that the studio is actively developing a Hello Kitty feature film that will combine live action and animation (like this week s Tom and Jerry). New Line Cinema has hired two directors for their Hello Kitty movie: Jennifer Coyle and Leo Matsuda. Coyle s credits as director include 23 episodes of DC Super Hero Girls and 13 episodes of Bob s Burgers, while Matsuda s credits are mostly as an animator or story artist on projects like The Simpsons Movie, Wreck-It Ralph, and Zootopia.9. JONATHAN MAJORS TO STAR IN MILITARY DRAMA 892(Photo by The Washington Post/Getty Images)One of the shows that premiered right in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic when many people were hungry for something to binge was HBO s spooky Lovecraft Country, starring Jonathan Majors. In the months since, Majors was able to translate that show s success to a new gig at Marvel Studios as one of the company s most prolific super villains, Kang the Conqueror, in the sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (TBA 2022). This week, Majors signed on for another project, which will be a drama called 892 about a marine war veteran who suffers from PTSD. In somewhat related news, following recent allegations, rapper-turned-actor T.I. will not be returning for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania after co-starring in the first two Ant-Man movies. It is unclear if this was always the plan, or if Marvel Studios is making the change based on the allegations against T.I. and his wife Tameka Tiny Harris. Likewise, we also don t know if the other Ant-Man supporting characters played by Michael Peña and David Dastmalchian will be returning or not.On an Apple device? The 33 Best Boxing Movies of All TimePugilists have been popular camera subjects since the start boxing, at the time, being arguably the most interesting thing you do to another person in public. In the odd century-plus that s passed since, boxing cinema has evolved past mere punching for spectacle. It s about personal toil. Training. Strength. Sacrifice. Undying commitment to the physical vision. And then it s about hitting somebody for money. Or respect, sure.Tonight s title bout: The best-reviewed boxing movies ever! In one corner, we have heavyweight classics like Rocky and Raging Bull. In the other, hungry newcomers like Creed and Million Dollar Baby. And in another corner (we have a lot of corners): hard-hitting documentaries, repped by When We Were Kings and Unforgivable Blackness. And, yes, we re going international in this corner: see Knuckle all the way from Ireland, and China Heavyweight, all the way from, er, China. To be a contender, the movie needed to put up a Fresh rating after 20 reviews, before we ranked them with our weighted formula calculating a film s Tomatometer score, its number of reviews, and year of release.Think you got what it takes to take on the champs? Hit em where it counts!

At 40% on the Tomatometer, Godzilla: King of the Monsters didn t fare so well with critics, who largely felt the kaiju action in the film was spectacular but was too frequently sidelined in favor of a half-baked human story. Fans, on the other hand, felt quite differently, rewarding the giant monster battle royale with an 86% Audience Score. That s a far more impressive number than the 2014 reboot (66%), the Monsterverse follow-up Kong: Skull Island (69%), and even the recent Japan-produced Shin Godzilla (74%) all three of which, we might add, were also Certified Fresh according to the critics. In the wake of its box office-topping opening weekend, we decided to take a look through the user reviews for King of the Monsters to see if we could discover what the cause of this rift was, and the results were somewhat surprising. Generally speaking, while RT users tend to agree with critics about the film s shortcomings, the former are far more forgiving. At the end of the day, fans came to the movie to see Godzilla face off against or team up with some of the franchise s most iconic characters, and they got exactly what they wanted. Check out the user reviews and let us know what you thought of the film, and these reviews, in the comments. (Note, some of the reviews have been slightly edited for length and grammar/spelling.)(Photo by Warner Bros. Pictures)How Are the Action and Visuals?Hard-to-follow CGI overload. Ro, 2 starsGood action, but under a blue Snapchat filter. Bad plot. Buckshot, 2 starsExcessively silly, but the imagery is often jaw-dropping and honestly, what more do you need from a monster movie? Alec B., 3 starsThis movie is awesome. Truly one of the greatest and most epic kaiju movies ever made. The battle scenes were beautifully shot and gave a large sense of scale. A must-see.– Colton H., 4 StarsKing of the Monsters goes full Avengers in introducing King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan for a full-on monster mash. It s by no means a good film, but it s dumb fun watching the titans clash. Zak, 4 stars(Photo by Warner Bros. Pictures)What About the Writing?Garbage. Pacific Rim was onto something; these guys didn t take notes. NO ONE CARES ABOUT THE STUPID HUMAN STORIES, FFS. Michael D., 0.5 starsNo plot, no point Just a lot of noise! Mary R., 0.5 starsPoor writing, average acting, cliched characters, terrible dialog. Felt like it was four hours long. Todd, 1 starWanted to love it as a Godzilla fan for almost 50 years, but it lacked drama, had laughable and unlikable human characters. The color palette was dark and generally monochromatic. The attempts at one-liners fell terribly flat. The kaijus deserve much better. Brandon M., 2 starsIt s not one of those films that you go to for the writing, that s for sure! But all in all, the kaiju battles were glorious fun to watch and the performances were decent. A good summer popcorn flick! M00vieCritic W., 3.5 starsThe only thing that would have made the movie any better is if they took out all the human actors. For a longtime Godzilla fan, this film had me smiling ear to ear. I cant stress enough how much i loved this movie! Michael, 5 starsReady for a nerdgasm??? KOTM brings the heat. For all the dyed-in-the-wool fans, this scratched the itch left festering since 2014 s good but underwhelming outing. The plot was cohesive, the human elements tied into what was happening with the monsters, and I was searching for some bad CGI, but couldn t really find any. Go see it. I ll be going back for IMAX. Eric, 5 stars(Photo by Warner Bros. Pictures)Will It Satisfy Longtime Fans?Classic Godzilla. Loved it! Wish we saw more of the other titans in action, though. A couple slow spots, but very entertaining. Childhood memories came rushing back.  JLW, 3.5 starsAs a fan of Godzilla: Final Wars, I am pretty satisfied. It s a film that is meant to be watched with little seriousness. And I very much enjoyed the callbacks to the original soundtrack.  Hansen W., 4 starsMovie antagonist didn t make a lot of sense, but at the same time, their ridiculousness echoed that of the Heisei era Toho movies. The monster battles are thrilling, though sometimes I wish they didn t cut away so often. Would be nice if there were some day fights but that s okay. This movie is stuck between whether it wants to take itself seriously or not. This problem rests with the characters some are fun and relevant while others are cheesy and trope-riddled. The score is top notch and the resurgence of the original theme is breathtaking. Overall, if you are looking for classic monster action and are a Godzilla fan through and through, you will have a good time. And if you don t like classic monster tropes then idk why you would go watch this movie in the first place. Seth S., 4 starsIt truly did feel like the Godzilla movies I remember watching as a youngster, except with better visual effects and better acting. The monster action was intense and the visuals were breathtaking. A must-see for every fan of the franchise or anyone wanting to see a good sci-fi/monster movie! Levi, 5 starsAbsolute love letter to the Toho films, full of easter eggs, fan service, and giant monster fights. Easily in my top 5 Godzilla movies (from the U.S. or Japan). Mike S., 5 stars(Photo by Warner Bros. Pictures)Does It Live Up to the Hype?It takes a very accomplished pen to walk this improbability-act of a tightrope balance. This ain t it. Gerald H., 2 starsExactly what Godzilla fans want. Some really cheesy dialogue aside, I couldn t ask for anything better. Critics are just flat out wrong about this movie. GO SEE IT! Adam H., 4.5 starsAMAZIIIIIING!!! Godzilla 2014 was a better Hollywood film, but this was a better GODZILLA movie!! Great job! Looking forward to Godzilla vs. Kong!!! 1.98.1 5月喜迎(Photo by Andrew Cooper/©Weinstein Compan)Updated: 10/4/21Sites like Crackle, IMDB, Tubi, Vudu, YouTube and now Peacock all have free movies online for you to stream. The only catch: You have to watch ads. On the plus side, while there are commercial interruptions, the movies are not edited for content like they are on broadcast channels. Which means you can still watch uncut movies and with fewer total interruptions than television airings. And did we mention the movies were free?Which movies should you watch, though, now that you know where to find them? Rotten Tomatoes did some digging and sorted through the free movie catalogs of Peacock, Vudu, Tubi, IMDB, YouTube, and Crackle to find the 200 best movies available to watch for free right now. These films, all Fresh on the Tomatometer, include Oscar winners, blockbusters, comedy classics, informative documentaries, and family favorites — all available to watch for free.Check out our list of the Freshest movies to watch free online to find something new without paying rental or subscription fees.Just added: The Aristocrats, Back to the Future Trilogy, The Big Short, A Boy and His Dog, Brick, Brokeback Mountain, Carol, Coming to America, Compliance, The Decline of Western Civilization, Django Unchained, Fight Club, Fish Called Wanda, Fury, Girl with a Pearl Earring, Half Nelson, History of Violence, Hoop Dreams, Ichi the Killer, The Imitation Game, John Wick 2, John Wick 3, Lion, Love Story, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Man of Tai Chi, Megamind, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Mr. Nobody, Moneyball, On Golden Pond, The Pianist, Predators, Pretty Woman, The Road, Seabiscuit, Southpaw, Sweeney Todd, The Wedding Singer, Whip It

What it is: Victor is a teen who doesn’t quite know himself yet, as so many teens are: a high schooler in a new district whose family unit seems to be dissolving while he’s coming to terms with his sexuality, he’s got a lot on his plate! Love, Victor, from creators Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, is his story. Why you should watch it: What’s not to love about Love, Victor? A welcome expansion — and in some instances, a subtle course-correct — on Greg Berlanti’s boundary-pushing studio feature Love, Simon, the series is a funny, touching, awkward, and at-times sexy ode to modern-day teendom in all its shades, featuring a standout, grounding performance from newcomer Michael Cimino. Season 2 premieres June 11 on Hulu.Where to watch it: HuluCommitment: Approx. 5 hours (for the first season)

Watch: David Yates on the final battle of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 above.In 2019, Rotten Tomatoes turns 21, and to mark the occasion we’re celebrating the 21 Most Memorable Moments from the movies over the last 21 years. In this special video series, we speak to the actors and filmmakers who made those moments happen, revealing behind-the-scenes details of how they came to be and diving deep into why they’ve stuck with us for so long. Once we’ve announced all 21, it will be up to you, the fans, to vote for which is the most memorable moment of all. In this episode of our ‘21 Most Memorable Moments’ series, director David Yates breaks down the Harry Potter franchise s defining, climactic battle between good and evil.VOTE FOR THIS MOMENT IN OUR 21 MOST MEMORABLE MOVIE MOMENTS POLLThe Movie: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011) 96%Movies rarely come with the kinds of lofty expectations that were foisted upon the Harry Potter franchise, but movies are also rarely adapted from existing properties that are widely beloved, pop culture-defining global sensations. Thankfully, Warner Bros. found the right people to place both in front of and behind the camera to bring J.K. Rowling s Wizarding World to cinematic life, and the result was one of the most critically and commercially successful film franchises ever to flicker across the big screen.David Yates has served as the series go-to director beginning with the fifth film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix; he s since helmed every movie in the franchise, including the two recent Fantastic Beasts spinoff installments. His biggest challenge lay in bringing the original series to a close in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Part 2, the latter of which was to feature the climactic battle between Daniel Radcliffe s Harry Potter and Ralph Fiennes Lord Voldemort. But Yates had a specific vision in mind for the final book in the series.(Photo by Jaap Buitendijk/Warner Bros.)“I read the book and it felt, to me, that you could create two interesting films.” It was Lionel Wigram, who s one of our lovely producers, who felt maybe this movie could fall into two parts, because it was quite an extensive book. I read the book and it felt, to me, that you could create two interesting films. One was very much the kind of blockbuster, entertaining conclusion to the whole series, which had lots of bells and whistles and lots of battles and a great deal of scale, and then the first one  when Harry, Ron, and Hermione are out in the real world for the very first time, away from school, having to learn some really hard life lessons that, to me, felt like it could operate almost as an independent movie on its own terms. Very small-scale, very delicate. A much more intimate movie, if you will.I used to joke with Steve Kloves, who adapted Hallows Parts 1 and 2, that we were probably making the most expensive European art house movie ever with Hallows Part 1, because it didn t feel like a big movie, with all the bells and whistles. It felt much more intimate and much more delicate than that. And then, of course, with Part 2, we were able to finally round out the series, and that felt much more appropriate that we sort of went out with a bang. You stick with what you feel is right and what s true, fundamentally. And I think we did it. There was this feeling that, there had been seven movies, and you had to kind of come out in a way that fulfilled everyone s expectations. Especially your own, in terms of turning this epic story that Jo had created. So I think that was probably the biggest challenge, and knowing that expectations were sky high, and that people wanted to have a properly satisfying emotional resolution to this series of stories. Knowing that you have those expectations on your shoulders, you follow your instincts, and you stick with what you feel is right and what s true, fundamentally. And I think we did it. Just sitting with an audience in all the test screenings as we were finishing the film, you could feel it in the room that people who had stuck with you on that journey across all those movies felt moved and elated by the end. It was a very satisfying feeling. The Moment: Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort DuelBeginning with the first film in 2001, each of the Harry Potter movies came somewhere between four or five years after their source novels were published. In other words, when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 arrived in 2011, book readers already knew what was coming: an epic showdown between Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort. As Yates explains, he made a conscious decision to deviate from the book.(Photo by Warner Bros.)“I always felt it would be wonderful to give this confrontation almost the feel of a Western.” This relationship has been ongoing throughout this series of stories, but it s only really in this final movie that we get to spend some substantial time with them finally facing each other. In the book, that confrontation takes place in the Great Hall, and I always felt that it was important, in a way, having waited seven movies for this confrontation to finally take place, I always felt it would be wonderful to give this confrontation almost the feel of a Western. So it s very iconically defined by these two figures in this vast courtyard, facing off with each other. Not with necessarily a big audience, as took place in the book, but something that felt much more singular, and the architecture and the landscape of the school was very much like a Western.Harry sort of carries the spirit of Voldemort, in part, and they have this unity, and I had this idea that Harry and Voldemort are at the top of a school tower, and as they confronted each other Dan would grab Ralph, and actually pull him off this tower, and they would apparate around the school together, and as they apparated around the school together, we d explore this weird visual synthesis that exists between the two of them, and they d eventually tumble down into the courtyard. The sequence became about a boy facing down this demon that had haunted him right throughout his childhood. So, I always wanted to get it out of the Great Hall, away from an audience, so the sequence became much more about a boy facing down this nemesis, this demon that had haunted him right throughout his childhood. This is the figure that had killed his parents. And so it became a much more iconic, singular battle between these two figures. I like that singularity and I like that simplicity, because you could really focus right into Harry s eyes and Voldemort s realization, in the moment when he loses the Elder Wand, that he s beaten. So for me, I like taking it into this down and dirty place, where it was literally a scramble in the mud to finally decide who was gonna win that battle that had been going on for such a long time. And that leanness and earthiness was always something that I felt was right for that final confrontation. The Impact: Fantastic Success and How to Find It(Photo by Warner Bros.)J.K. Rowling s Harry Potter novels were a worldwide phenomenon unto themselves, but the film series launched that phenomenon even further into the stratosphere. The so-called Wizarding World now includes a spinoff film series, theme park attractions, video games, and even a West End stage production that follows up on Harry Potter s story 19 years after the events of Deathly Hallows. The series early and frequent success spawned a mad rush to find the next Young Adult-aimed sensation, and others like The Hunger Games, Twilight, Divergent, and The Maze Runner as well as a slew of unsuccessful would-be franchise-starters followed in its footsteps. The Harry Potter series is also one of just a handful that can boast Certified Fresh installments from beginning to end, signaling consistent critical acclaim, and it ranks as the third highest-grossing of all time, behind only the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Star Wars saga. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is the culmination of seven movies over the course of a decade, and to put it in context, it s not only the best-reviewed film of the series at a Certified Fresh 96% on the Tomatometer, but it s also the highest-grossing of the bunch, earning a massive .3 billion at the global box office. That was enough to make it one of the top 10 highest-grossing films of all time until the recent release of Avengers: Endgame knocked it down to number 11. Still, that s no small feat.Of course, for those who can t get enough of the Potterverse, there s still the Fantastic Beasts films, the most recent of which opened just last November. It s unlikely that series will be able to replicate Harry Potter s extraordinary accomplishments, but as David Yates  Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 so clearly demonstrated, it takes time and a whole lot of careful craftsmanship to build to a fantastic, emotionally gratifying finale. Given another decade s worth of thoughtful storytelling, Fantastic Beasts may yet earn its own Harry vs. Voldemort moment.Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 was released on July 15, 2011. 亚博游戏主页 Actor and musician Ben Platt is so closely associated with the role of awkward and anxious teenager Evan Hansen – he came onto the musical Dear Evan Hansen during workshops and originated the role on Broadway – that it’s sometimes hard, especially among musical theater lovers, to remember they’re two separate people. It’s not just that Platt has been with Evan for so long, but that he has portrayed him with such unforgettable power and raw emotion – enough, it turns out, to nab him a Tony. This month, after a few years away from the role, he steps back into Hansen’s scruffy joggers for the film adaptation of the beloved musical, something that both excited and terrified him – and which may not help with that confusion. Ahead of the movie’s release in theaters, Platt sat down with Rotten Tomatoes for an exclusive, extended talk about how he initially developed the character of Evan, how he’s evolved his performance for the screen, and what it means to him to play someone who’s inspired so many.Dear Evan Hansen is in theaters from Friday September 24, 2021. On an Apple device? Tracking services took another hit this weekend, though maybe not as sharp as the one that Warner Bros. got. After all they were relying on the optimism that their Harley Quinn film was going to live up to the expectations that box office watchers had based on the awareness of their advertising. The result is a number that looks decent in a rather downbeat start to 2020, but is far from what anyone associated with the project wanted looking forward.King of the Crop: Birds of Prey Tops Weekend, but Disappoints(Photo by Warner Bros. Pictures)For weeks Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) was being touted for an opening in the million range. That would be in the Shazam!/Green Lantern range for DC properties and was already subject of some concern for the reported million production. Word-of-mouth and international sales were going to be essential to making the film a hit with 0 million worldwide the magic number to begin having that conversation. If the film were able to follow the paths of those two other films, it could have ended up in the 6 million–0 million range domestically and probably cross its profit margin with no issue. But at least part of that journey may be over right from the get-go.A .25 million start for Birds of Prey puts it in a rather precarious position. Only a third of the films opening in February between million– million have crossed the 0 million line: Get Out, Identity Thief, The Lego Movie 2, and Just Go With It. The writing was seemingly on the wall Friday morning. While some were touting million in Thursday previews as a solid start, all one had to do was look at the films grossing that specific amount to suggest Birds was off to a rocky start. The two R-rated films with that start — Annabelle: Creation ( million opening) and Blade Runner 2049 (.75 million) — a prequel and sequel from WB finished with 2 million and million, respectively. (The PG-13 films opened between million–75 million.)The film could still be saved by its international release, however. Last year, Shazam! grossed over 4 million overseas, and that is the lowest showing for a DC property since 2011 when Green Lantern only accumulated an additional 3 million internationally. Birds of Prey debuted with million overseas. If you have a suggestion for a movie or show you think we should do an episode on, let us know in the comments, or email us at rtiswrong@rottentomatoes.com.Meet the hostsJacqueline Coley is an editor at Rotten Tomatoes, with a focus on awards and indie coverage but with a passion for everything, from the MCU to musicals and period pieces. (Photo by New Line Productions)“Know Your Critic” is a column in which we interview Tomatometer-approved critics about their screening and reviewing habits, pet peeves, and personal favorites.Bilge Ebiri’s interest and diverse taste in film started early. He grew up watching movies that could easily be classified as “movies aimed at kids” – such as Peter Pan and Pete’s Dragon – but he also saw a number of highly stylized and psychologically weighty movies, too, from Apocalypse Now and Aliens to The Deer Hunter.“I was watching spaghetti westerns from a very young age, I think from third or fourth grade on,” he told Rotten Tomatoes. The movie he’s seen more than any other is A Fistful of Dollars, a Sergio Leone spaghetti western starring Clint Eastwood: “For a while, every day I would come home and just watch my Betamax of A Fistful of Dollars and eat ice cream,” Ebiri says. “I was a latchkey child, so I was just at home doing this by myself while my parents were at work.”Now, he is excited by Gina Prince-Bythewood’s films (which he believes deserve greater recognition), and intrigued by the works of Lars von Trier (“He s certainly made bad movies, but he s never not made an interesting movie,” he says) and Zhang Yimou, some of which Ebiri considers “eternal masterpieces” while others are “middling. “The legacy of auteurism is that even filmmakers who don t necessarily always make a great film, if they re a great filmmaker, they ll always make an interesting film,” Ebiri says.Bilge Ebiri is a movie critic at Vulture and former lead critic at Village Voice. His reviews have been published in the New York Times and Rolling Stone, among others. What do you think makes a good movie?Oh, I can t answer that. It s all sorts of things. Anything I say would be wrong. There s not a one-size-fits-all model. There are certain things that make one movie good, and then those same things can make another movie bad. There s no way to answer that question without talking about a specific movie. An example, I was just talking about this with somebody the other day, the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies. I love the Lord of the Rings movies. I despise The Hobbit movies. A lot of the things that make the Lord of the Rings movies so special are the things that make The Hobbit movies, for me, unbearable. What do you think is the biggest misconception about critics? There are two misconceptions about critics and they re slightly at odds with each other. One of them is, Well, all you have to do is watch movies, what a cushy job you have. And the other one is, Do you even like movies? Both of these misconceptions are wrong, and they re wrong in different ways.I think critics would love to spend all their time watching movies, but the truth is, you don t. Often, you re usually writing or you re researching or dealing with publicists or dealing with all sorts of other things. And only a very small part of your day, if you re lucky, is spent watching movies…And as far as not enjoying movies – different critics are different obviously, but I think most critics, when they go into a film, are looking forward to it. Sometimes you can enjoy the time you have at a movie without necessarily enjoying the movie or without necessarily thinking the movie is all that great. That s why so many of us love the theatrical experience, even after all that – because in the end, we love the experience of seeing the movie, even if the movie itself isn t great.Who is an up-and-coming critic that you want people to check out? “Up-and-coming” is also obviously up for interpretation. That s the thing that I m struggling with because I m 47 years old. A lot of people are up and coming to me even though they ve been doing this for a long time…Monica Castillo is a critic I really like and she s a friend. And she s been around for a while. I don t think of her as a newbie or anything like that, but she s younger and she s somebody who I feel deserves to write more and be better known.

亚博游戏主页 deason 2 finale seemingly resolves this by severing Djarin from his cub. But considering all the times we heard about their bond — and the marketing slam dunk surrounding Grogu — we doubt it will be too long before they are reunited. What is the Book of Boba Fett? As the stinger scene came to a close, it revealed The Book of Boba Fett will begin in December 2021. Presumably, this will be the program s third season with a new focus on the infamous bounty hunter as he takes Jabba s place in the galactic underworld. But is that all we ll get? Season 2 left Djarin with a lot to process, and we d hate to go a whole season without seeing him working through it. At the same time, we d love to see Fett round up bounty hunters like IG-88, Dengar, and Bossk to enact whatever plans he has in mind. We also need to see the infamous crime-ridden world of Nar Shaddaa realized in live action. Also, the instant disdain Kryze and Fett had for one another is worth exploring. Fett s claim to be recognized as a Mandalorian in Chapter 14 is pretty strong. Perhaps resolving his status — a point of contention which even predates the Expanded Universe — will also be an aspect of the story.Of course, there is some confusion about The Book of Boba Fett being its own standalone series. Until we get a clarifying press release, we will assume it is the program s next phase.UPDATE: Favreau appeared on GMA to give a few details, including the news that The Book of Boba Fett is a full series arriving in December 2021.READ MORE: Everything We Know About The Book of Boba Fett”Will Djarin and Kryze actually fight? It is curious to see Kryze sticking to the letter of the law this time. Back on Star Wars: Rebels, Sabine Wren (Tiya Sircar) was able to hand her the Darksaber without even so much as a verbal sparring session — although, the two women certainly had enough arguments in the past to count as a fair fight. This time, though, it appears she needs to win the Darksaber. It seems Gideon may have undermined her authority in the past by revealing how she came into possession of the weapon. Now, she s taking no chances. But if Djarin continues to wear his armor after revealing his face to Grogu and Luke, Kryze is now the inflexible adherent to a Way, which only undermines her cause. Will she learn not to be as hidebound or will the two have to fight for the throne? As Sackhoff told us recently, Just because she thinks that she is the rightful ruler and just because she thinks she’s ready to lead doesn’t mean she is. Will Djarin sit the throne of Mandalore? Then again, Djarin s destiny may be something he definitely doesn t want: the throne of Mandalore itself. As he was a foundling brought up in the Way of the Mandalore, he is not Mando by blood or a member of one of the clans. It both makes him a good candidate for leadership and someone who will find nothing by conflict in taking on those duties; nevertheless, it seems clear the series is headed toward the liberation of Mandalore and, for the moment, he holds the Darksaber. Will Gideon weaken the New Republic with the power of his voice? As seen in the finale, Gideon is a threat even when bound. As an ex-ISB officer, it seems unlikely any counterpart in New Republic intelligence will be able to break him; in fact, it seems possible his presence in an interrogation cell could undermine the Republic to such an extent that it sets up in the ineffectual government seen in the Sequel Trilogy. At the same time, Esposito told reporters earlier this year that viewers will learn more about him in the next few seasons: will he use his background as means of weakening his adversaries?Where is Grogu in the Age of Resistance? Some thirty years after the events of Chapter 16, Luke will neglect to tell Rey (Daisy Ridley) about Grogu. In our reality, there are practical reasons for this  The Mandalorian was only beginning development when Star Wars: The Last Jedi was filmed but now that we know Luke will train him, the child s whereabouts in the Sequel Trilogy will have to be accounted for at some point. Of course, this could change if training goes badly and we know Luke isn t the best tutor. It is possible events in the short term will drive Luke and Grogu apart; meaning he would never consider the child a Jedi or his pupil. From a certain point of view, of course. The Mandalorian season 2 is now streaming in its entirety on Disney+On an Apple device?
