极品飞车7中文版采用百度引擎9(Baidu 6)Today we are excited to start our Product update blog, which will allow us to keep you informed of changes and updates on Rotten Tomatoes.Over the past 18 months, we’ve made a number of updates at Rotten Tomatoes, all in an effort to streamline the site and provide users with a more enriched experience. These updates include the launch of a new visual identity (you don’t hate the red anymore, right?); the creation of new original editorial, video, and social content (check us out on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram); and a revamped Tomatometer critics criteria that better reflects the current media landscape, increases inclusion, and more fully serves the global entertainment audience. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished, but let’s get to what you really want to hear about!Starting this week, Rotten Tomatoes will launch the first of several phases of updates that will refresh and modernize our Audience Rating System. We’re doing it to more accurately and authentically represent the voice of fans, while protecting our data and public forums from bad actors. As of February 25, we will no longer show the Want to See percentage score for a movie during its pre-release period. Why you might ask?  We’ve found that the Want to See percentage score is often times confused with the Audience Score percentage number. (The Audience Score percentage, for those who haven’t been following, is the percentage of all users who have rated the movie or TV show positively – that is, given it a star rating of 3.5 or higher – and is only shown once the movie or TV show is released.)What you will now see at the top of a movie or TV page, once it has been released, is this:What else are we doing? We are disabling the comment function prior to a movie s release date. Unfortunately, we have seen an uptick in non-constructive input, sometimes bordering on trolling, which we believe is a disservice to our general readership. We have decided that turning off this feature for now is the best course of action. Don’t worry though, fans will still get to have their say: Once a movie is released, audiences can leave a user rating and comments as they always have.Last but not least, you will notice we are making some layout changes to the site. Through our research department we have learned that our users would prefer a cleaner, less cluttered, presentation of the Tomatometer and Audience Score. Don’t worry, the information and data are still there (promise!).We hope you enjoy these changes.  Please leave feedback in the comment section below.  We are taking notes. Thanks for reading, and we ll see you at the movies.

Projects are announced, but then seemingly go into hibernation. The stalwart of the line, Batman, always gets its movies made while Wonder Woman seems poised to join the Dark Knight as a reliable franchise. Superman, sadly, is caught between the worlds of reboots and rival ideas.Nevertheless, DC Films chief Walter Hamada recently revealed a plan to release six DC-related films a year in the coming decade – four will arrive in theaters while two will be made exclusively for HBO Max. The library is certainly deep enough to support such an endeavor. And thanks to Hamada embracing the multiverse concept, it seems plans are in place for a second Batman saga to coincide with Matt Reeves’ upcoming The Batman. It all means DC fans will get a lot of content in the next 10 years.Listen to our Podcast: Rotten Tomatoes Is Wrong About Batman v SupermanListen to our Podcast: Rotten Tomatoes Is Wrong About Wonder Woman 1984Listen to our Podcast: Rotten Tomatoes Is Wrong About AquamanThe change is the latest shockwave in the often incredible story of Warner Bros.’ attempts to bring the DC Multiverse to the screen. So before we take a look at the latest changes, let’s go back to the beginning of WB’s ambitious plans for its extended universe…In 2014, Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Entertainment announced a series of movies based on DC Comics characters. The original schedule included a two-part Justice League project and at least two films a year through 2020. Things did not go according to plan, with Justice League compressing its story into one film and projects like Flash experiencing constant delays. Despite projects shifting around the slate – and the critical backlash against Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League – the original 2014 master plan has been executed for the most part, with only 2018 missing a second DC-derived film and Cyborg disappearing entirely. And even as features like Aquaman and Shazam! went into production, the studio never stopped trying to get new projects off the ground utilizing the comic book characters and the universe initiated by 2013’s Man of Steel. The next several years will deliver a number of projects from that original slate and some surprises in the form of Aquaman 2 and The New Gods. On the TV/streaming front, Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League is finally available on HBO Max.For now, the following represents everything we know about those projects and their place in the DC Films universe, as well as a few DC adaptations that will exist separate from the universe. (Want to see what the other camp has in store? Check out our breakdown of upcoming Marvel movies.)SEE: Most Anticipated 2021 Movies | Most Anticipated 2022 MoviesComing SoonThere is a lot that is uncertain about which DC Comics characters are coming to the big screen, who s bringing them there, and in what order — but nothing is uncertain about these first movies. They re in production, or in pre- or post-production, and we know exactly when they will be hitting theaters. (At least, we know the latest dates, and will update as those change with COVID-19 leaving the landscape a little uncertain.)The BatmanRelease Date: March 4, 2022What We Know: War for the Planet of the Apes’ Matt Reeves took over directing duties on The Batman following the departure of Ben Affleck, who intended to star, co-write, and direct. Creative differences saw his role reduced to star even as his personal problems overshadowed the ongoing question about his continued involvement. Late in January of 2019, Warner Bros. announced a release date while Affleck definitively stated he was leaving the cape and cowl behind. (Though not so definitively, if you skip down to our latest update on Flash). A new man behind the mask emerged that May when Robert Pattinson took over the role. That casting choice confirmed the story would revolve around a younger Batman, and Reeves has confirmed that, telling DC FanDome it will be set during Year Two when a serial killer is stalking Gotham. Across late summer and early Fall, the cast began to round out with Jeffrey Wright joining up as Commissioner Gordon, Paul Dano taking on The Riddler, and Zoe Kravitz signing on as Catwoman. In November, word broke indicating Colin Farrell would play The Penguin and Andy Serkis would be the new face of Alfred Pennyworth. Other cast members include Peter Sarsgaard as District Attorney Gil Colson, Alex Ferns as Commissioner Pete Savage, John Turturro as Falcone, and Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál. Rumors also suggest a new Two-Face will also emerge. Stacking the film with almost all of the notable Batman villains is something of a change for modern Batman movies, which generally only use two at a time – although Batman Begins featured a whopping five when you count lesser known characters like Carmine Falcone, Joe Chill, and Victor Zsasz alongside The Scarecrow and Ra’s Al Ghul. Despite a member of the crew – allegedly star Robert Pattinson himself – coming down with the coronavirus, the film seemed poised to hold its October 2021 release date until Dune took its slot during a subsequent change to the calendar. The film is now scheduled for March of 2022. During DC FanDome in October of 2021, Warner Bros. released a second trailer for the film, featuring a greater emphasis on Catwoman and the Riddler. Additionally, Reeves, Pattinson, and Kravitz offered some comments about the film, with Kravitz calling her Catwoman someone who “wants to fight for those who don’t have someone.” Reeves added that the film will feature a number of “iconic” moments with the character even if she doesn’t map 1:1 to comic book Catwoman.Recommended: Everything We Know About The Batman How It Fits in the DC Multiverse: The project s ties to the established film continuity are questionable. Late in 2018, rumors began to emerge that Reeves’ vision for the film set it outside the Man of Steel universe as a “standalone” story, like Joker. The studio moved quickly to quash the rumors, but it now seems clear the film will exist in its own universe with a HBO Max spin-off series already in development.Black Adam(Photo by © Warner Bros. Pictures)Release Date: July 29, 2022What We Know: After listening to fans when he was initially interested in Shazam!, Johnson signed on to star in a film featuring that character’s greatest nemesis, Black Adam. Jaume Collet-Serra will direct from a script by Adam Sztykiel, with Noah Centineo on board as well to play Albert Rothstein/Atom Smasher, whose superpower is his super strength and ability to grow  huge. At DC FanDome, Johnson showed two clips. One, produced by Jim Lee and Boss Logic which gave fans a quick rundown of the character s origins – formerly enslaved, he s in the pursuit of Justice the Black Adam way. The other introduced the idea of the Justice Society of America, and revealed that Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Cyclone, and Atom Smasher would feature in the film. In late September 2020, Aldis Hodge emerged as Hawkman, but the news was soon tempered as the film lost its December 22, 2021 release date entirely during the shuffling of Warner Bros. release slate 10 days later. As for most of the project’s existence, it is once again unclear when it will be released. But with members of the cast already assembled, it is possible the film will arrive in 2023. Aiding this possibility: Sarah Shahi joined the cast in October with a role described as both a professor and freedom fighter. In the months following, Quintessa Swindell joined the cast as JSAer Cyclone and Marwan Kenzari signed up for an as-yet undisclosed role; Pierce Brosnan will star as Dr. Fate. Additional cast members include Bodhi Sabongui and James Cusati-Moyer. In March 2021, a release date was finally announced, with Johnson taking over billboards in Times Square to reveal the movie will release July 29, 2022. In early June, Shahi finally confirmed her character is Adrianna Tomaz – or some version of the DC character. The next month, Johnson released a photo teasing his Black Adam body suit and, later in July, announced he wrapped filming via his Instagram. A brief clip featuring the resurrection of Black Adam was released during the 2021 DC FanDome in October, suggesting the character may not be much of a morning person. A behind-the-scenes reel also offered a few glimpses of Dr. Fate’s helmet and Adam’s costume.(Photo by © Warner Bros. Pictures)How It Fits in the DC Multiverse: Black Adam is the archenemy of Shazam, so their film worlds are definitely connected. But he is also a fairly complicated anti-hero when dealing with anyone else. Heroic one moment and brutal the next, Adam could emerge as the powerful leader of his own country – an idea straight from the comic books. At DC FanDome, Johnson hinted that the movie could feature an appearance from Superman, and sent a warning to all those in the Justice League: The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change. The Flash(Photo by DC)Release Date: November 4, 2022What We Know: A Flash film starring Ezra Miller as the Barry Allen featured in Justice League is finally getting made. After losing multiple directors – among them, Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa – and undergoing a title change from The Flash to Flashpoint and back again, the nature of the film is finally coming into focus as we ve learned that Allen will crash through multiple dimensions to change his mother s fate in an adaptation of DC s ambitious 2011 Flashpoint event comic book series, and meet various versions of some of DC s biggest heroes along the way. It helmer Andy Muschietti signed on as the project s fifth director in July, and at DC FanDome revealed a first look at concept art for Allen s new suit, which features embedded light and was made by Bruce Wayne. And someone else has signed on, too. Ben Affleck will return in a small, cameo-style role as the version of Batman we ve seen in Justice League, while Michael Keaton returns, too, as the Batman we met in 1989 s Batman; Muschietti told Vanity Fair that Keaton s role is substantial. Rudy Mancuso will also appear in an as-yet undisclosed role. In March of 2021, Kiersey Clemons, who signed on to play Iris West back when Famuyiwa was going to direct, recommitted to project. Additionally, word broke soon after indicating Maribel Verdú will play Barry’s mother Nora, but due to scheduling conflicts, Billy Crudup will not reprise his Justice League role as Barry’s father Henry. Ron Livingston will play the part instead. Michael Keaton, after suggesting he might leave the project, recommitted late in the summer. His appearance in the film was also teased during a sizzle reel for the film at DC FanDome 2021, which also featured a great look at Barry’s new suit and a first glimpse at Sasha Calle’s Supergirl. How It Fits in the DC Multiverse: With the story focusing on the Flashpoint storyline – in which Barry’s attempt to save his mother wrecks the universe – the film will feature Ben Affleck as the Batman, as well as Michael Keaton, and may include other familiar faces. A promo package at DC FanDome also suggested Allen may encounter DC heroes from TV and streaming, with multiple clips of Watchmen playing as the panel discussed the Flashpoint possibilities. And considering how the original Flashpoint comic book radically altered the DC Comics universe, the film may bring about the end of the DCEU as we knew it.Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom(Photo by @ Warner Bros. )Release Date: December 16, 2022What We Know: James Wan returns to direct the sequel. According to reports following the first film s stunning box office debut in December of 2018, the studio wanted Wan to develop the project while he decided whether or not to direct. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, a co-writer on the first film, soon emerged to write the follow-up, and Warner Bros. set it for a 2022 release at the end of February last year. Presumably, any sequel storyline will feature the return of Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and his thirst for revenge. We’re also going to presume a wedding between Arthur (Jason Momoa) and Mera (Amber Heard) will occur. Wan will direct the sequel after completing work on the horror film Malignant, due out later this year, and told DC FanDome that the movie will have a more serious tone compared with the original, and that new worlds will be explored. At the same panel, he was joined by Patrick Wilson, and the pair confirmed that Ocean Master will return for the sequel. For the moment, the film is still expected to be the DC holiday release of 2022 – a year now packed full of films based on comic book characters from Warner Bros. and other studios. And considering The Flash is expected in theaters a month earlier, Aquaman 2 may switch to a 2023 release. In early June 2021, director James Wan revealed the title of the film. A behind-the-scenes video showcased during October 2021’s DC FanDome unveiled a new look at Black Manta’s updated costume and a black version of Arthur’s armor. How It Fits in the DC Multiverse: Aquaman’s seas presumably now exist in a universe all their own. That said, it is always possible for one of the characters to seek his help in a stinger scene.Shazam: Fury of the Gods(Photo by DC)Release Date: June 2, 2023What We Know: Well, as of DC FanDome, we know that the title of the movie will be Fury of the Gods, and that Sinbad – who through the Mandela Effect will always be associated with the franchise – may be in it. Other than that, not much. What we do know is that director David F. Sandberg is back, along with star Zachary Levy and co-stars Asher Angel and Jack Dylan Grazer. The credits stinger at the end of Shazam! revealed our hero could be about to face Mister Mind – one of the tiniest but most powerful villains in the DC canon. We also know the film will be the first of Warner Bros.’ DC offerings in 2023 – for the moment – thanks to the October 2020 scheduling shift. In February of 2021, Rachel Zegler joined the production in a reportedly key role, while it s also been announced Helen Mirren will play villain Hespera, daughter of the god Atlas. In April, Lucy Liu signed on to play Kalypso, one of Hespera’s sisters. In May, Mark Strong confirmed he would not return as Dr. Sivana, saying the film is going in a “different direction” than the one suggested in the first film’s stinger. That change of direction was also signaled during DC FanDome, thanks to a behind-the-scenes video featuring Mirren and Liu’s characters and a number of action scenes. How It Fits in the DC Multiverse: Black Adam, anyone? Although that film is not on Warner Bros. release schedule at the moment, the title character’s connection to Shazam means a crossover – and a confrontation – is inevitable. In DevelopmentWith its plans for a Justice League-centric film universe abandoned in favor of more standalone productions like Aquaman and Shazam!, Warner Bros. calendar during the first few years of the 2020s reveals a number of re-thought ideas and, to borrow a term from comics, new #1 issues. At one time, the studio planned to release as many as three films per year, a target it will hit in 2022. But it remains to be seen if the projects listed below will ramp up to maintain the pace.Batgirl(Photo by © Warner Bros. )Release Date: TBDWhat We Know: Originally intended as Joss Whedon’s writing and directing debut in the DC Extended Universe, the project is now being written by Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson while the studio looks for a director. Presumably, the film will establish Barbara Gordon as the Batgirl of Gotham. Her relationship to the Birds of Prey will likely be established in a subsequent sequel to either film, if at all. But considering Hodson’s involvement in both films, she probably has a plan for Babs. In May of 2021, the project became active again with Ms. Marvel directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah signing on to helm the film, which is now set to be one of the first DC-related direct-to-HBO Max features. In July, the casting process seemingly narrowed in on Isabella Merced, Zoey Deutch, Leslie Grace, and Haley Lu Richardson. Grace won the role later than month with J.K. Simmons entering negotiations to return as Commissioner Jim Gordan, a role he first took on in Justice League. During DC FanDome in October 2021, Grace described the character as a “girly girl, but she’s capable and strong and determined.” Co-director El Arbi added that the film will feature “realistic fights.” A piece of production art glimpsed during the presentation also suggests Batgirl will utilize a costume similar to her New 52 look in the comics. How It Fits in the DC Multiverse: Considering the project comes from developments outside of the original Justice League plan, it is difficult to guess how it will fit in. Perhaps Batgirl will be set sometime in the past or see Barbara taking up the cape and cowl after the Batman appears to quit.Blue Beetle(Photo by DC)What We Know: In February of 2021, word broke revealing Charm City Kings director Angel Manuel Soto will helm a film based on the Jaime Reyes version of Blue Beetle. The character is a Mexican-American teenager living in Texas who discovers a scarab that turns out to be an alien battle suit. It gives him fantastic powers, but makes his life much more complicated. In August, Cobra Kai’s Xolo Maridueña entered talks to play the lead role. The film joins Batgirl as one of two DC productions for HBO Max. Maridueña, Soto, and screenwriter Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer made an appearance at the October 2021 DC FanDome. All expressed enthusiasm for the project, with Dunnet-Alcocer saying the chance to showcase a Mexican-American superhero is a key part of the appeal. “That closeness of family is part of what sets him apart,” he said. An accompanying production painting also suggests the Blue Beetle costume will be surprisingly faithful to its comic book counterpart. How It Fits Into The DC Multiverse: Like Static Shock and some of the other projects, we’re going to assume the film takes place on the same Earth Barry establishes in The Flash. If so, it gives Jaime a chance to join whatever Justice League we might see in the future.Wonder Woman 3Release Date: TBAWhat We Know: Hot on the heels of Wonder Woman 1984’s box office success – well, at least in 2020 metrics – Warner Bros. announced a third film was being fast tracked. Both director Patty Jenkins and star Gal Gadot are set to return. Jenkins also said the film will finally bring Diana s film series to the present day. Of course, with Jenkins heading off to a galaxy far, far away to direct Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, it may be another four years (at least) before Wonder Woman returns. How It Fits in the DC Multiverse: Presuming Diana’s world still aligns to the DC Extended Universe continuity, Diana will finally be a public superhero and, perhaps, serving as an Amazonian ambassador to the world of men. In fact, reuniting her with her people after a century has a very dramatic appeal following the events of Wonder Woman 1984, Batman v Superman, and Justice League. Of course, if the Wonder Woman films are retroactive placed elsewhere in the Multiverse, the story could go in just about any direction. The Other BatmanRelease Date: TBAWhat We Know: In a New York Times profile of Hamada, the DC Films chief made a curious reference to the Multiverse making two Batman feature film sagas possible. One will likely continue the story of The Batman while the other will … well, it’s anyone’s guess right now. The events of Flash may give Ben Affleck’s Batman a new face in the DCEU. Or, perhaps, Hamada has convinced him to keep the cowl on for subsequent appearances. Then again, maybe HBO Max will get its own Batman. How It Fits in the DC Multiverse: Again, this all depends on the DCEU as we knew it existing after The Flash. But presuming this Batman is meant to interact with the other DC heroes in the established film universe, it is easy to see that aspect of his career invade any solo movies he may star in. Or perhaps, he will finally take on allies in Gotham to support spinoffs like Nightwing and Batgirl.Green Lantern CorpsRelease Date: TBDWhat We Know: Announced back with Cyborg in the 2014 masterplan, Green Lantern Corps continues to slowly move forward. In June of 2018, former DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns took over writing and producing the project through his production company, Mad Ghost Productions. According to the company website, the film will feature both the Silver Age Green Lantern, Hal Jordan (played by Ryan Reynolds in the 2011 film), and John Stewart, the Green Lantern voiced by Phil LaMarr in various Justice League animated series. An earlier concept developed by Man of Steel’s David S. Goyer and Justin Rhodes was said to be a sort of “Lethal Weapon in space” – a description which may still hold true for Johns’ concept as he worked with Lethal Weapon director Richard Donner for a number of years. With Johns participating in a Green Lantern television series for HBO Max, the project would seem to be postponed again though it is said to still be a priority for Warner Bros. Pictures. How It Fits in the DC Multiverse: Teased in a Justice League flashback, the lack of an Earthbound Green Lantern is part of the reason Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds) chose the planet for conquest. But the film would presumably see the Corps correcting that mistake by revealing the brave humans involved in that organization. No doubt the fans of Jordan and Stewart – to say nothing of characters like Guy Gardner, Simon Baz, Jessica Cruz, and G’Nort, who could potentially appear in the film – will be excited to see them in an ensemble. Additionally, the film would provide a perfect platform with which to introduce DC’s space-faring characters to a larger audience. At one time, the film was slotted for a 2020 release, but with the announcement of a HBO Max Green Lantern series, it is unclear if the film will ever surface.SupergirlRelease Date: TBDWhat We Know: The Cloverfield Paradox’s Oren Uziel is reportedly writing a script based on the Girl of Steel. Like The Flash feature film, it will presumably ignore the successful television series on The CW and tell its own version of Kara Zor-El’s first few days as a superhero on Earth. With Man of Steel star Henry Cavill s DC future in doubt, it is unlikely that Superman will show up and help greet the cinematic Kara. The producers of the 1984 Supergirl film also tried to get then-Superman Christopher Reeve to appear in the film, but his presence was limited to a poster on a dorm room wall. In February 2021, The Young and the Restless’s Sasha Calle was cast as Kara for an appearance in The Flash feature. Presumably, she will lead Supergirl as well, but it currently unclear. How It Fits in the DC Multiverse: If Calle continues as Kara, The Flash will determine if she’s the Supergirl of Barry’s Earth – our de facto DCEU – or one of the Mutliversal realities he visits in the film.Cyborg(Photo by © Warner Bros. Pictures)Release Date: TBDWhat We Know: Ray Fisher has been set to star as Vic Stone in a 2020 Cyborg film since 2014, but no director or screenwriter were announced. Many doubted the film will ever materialize despite still being on the calendar. In September of 2018, Fisher suggested fans of the character may need to become more vocal to make the film a reality. In the summer of 2020, Fisher launched a campaign to expose Joss Whedon’s allegedly abusive behavior on the set of the Justice League reshoots. As the situation expanded to former DC Films chiefs Geoff Johns and Jon Berg, Fisher vowed never to work with current DC Films boss Walter Hamada – whom he alleged was pressuring him to take back his accusations about Johns. Subsequently, Cyborg’s planned role in The Flash was written out and, presumably, any chance of a solo film outing went with it.How It Fits in the DC Multiverse: Frankly, we’ll be surprised if Cyborg ever resurfaces in the current DC Films structure, Multiverse or no.BlackhawkRelease Date: TBDWhat We Know: While it is unclear if Blackhawk will be part of the DC film universe, it is a favorite comic book of director Steven Spielberg. He even tried to get a Blackhawk movie off the ground in the 1980s. The current version of the project will see him direct a film based on the golden-age Quality Comics concept later bought by DC in 1957 with The Lost World: Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp adapting the concept. The main character is the leader of the Blackhawks squadron, a famed air outfit of seven ace pilots during World War II. When DC incorporated them into a post-war context, they became mercenaries, battled James Bond-style supervillains, and even flirted with becoming superheroes themselves! Considering the director’s fascination with the Second World War and aviation of the period, the original Golden Age version seems like the best fit, provided the film ever gets off the ground. How It Fits In The DC Multiverse: While current narrative conceits allow the film to take place in the past of Barry’s Earth, the Multiverse means the project could be as closely or loosely tied to other films as Spielberg wants. That is presuming, of course, he’s still interested in making it.Untitled Jared Leto Joker Project(Photo by © Warner Bros.)Release Date: TBDWhat We Know: According to reports, Jared Leto will star and serve as executive producer in his own solo Joker film – a deal which happens to be quite similar to Robbie’s involvement in Birds of Prey. Details are scarce, other than it will be a separate project from both the “Joker and Harley” concept and the standalone Joker. It will also spearhead a batch of films based on the characters featured in Suicide Squad, which means rumors of that Deadshot movie might be more than idle talk. Then again, it has been a long time since the actor has made any mention of returning to the role. Also, the announcement of a Peacemaker HBO Max series – centered on The Suicide Squad character played John Cena – may indicate the original spin-off plan has gone by the wayside. It would seem Leto’s time in the DC Multiverse is already over. How It Fits in the DC Multiverse: The Leto Joker was not only featured in Suicide Squad, but is also the murderer of Batman’s second Robin, as implied in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. As of Birds of Prey, his relationship with Harley is kaput, setting the two characters off in separate films series. If the “Joker and Harley” project is still happening, then it may serve as a capstone to the characters storylines across The Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey, and Leto’s Joker. But it may also serve as a replacement for that film as Robbie’s Harley projects may preclude “Joker and Harley.” Of course, Joker’s success – and Leto’s comments about being “alienated and upset” when it was announced – may mean the end of this version of the character. His appearance in Zack Snyder’s Justice League and the very nature of the Multiverse offer some glimmers of hope, however.Joker 2(Photo by Niko Tavernise/© 2019 Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.)Release Date: TBDWhat We Know: Thanks to the success of the first Joker, a follow-up was inevitable, but details remained scarce through 2020. In May of 2021, word broke indicating the project is still in development with a surprising new tie to the larger DC Multiverse. Star Joaquin Phoenix and direct Todd Philipps will presumably return. Although the early reports were refuted, the more recent claim suggests Phillips is already writing the script. How It Fits Into the DC Multiverse: According to the May 2021 report, the film will tie into The Batman and its spinoff HBO Max series, Gotham PD. If this proves to be true, it is a change from the original film’s entirely standalone nature. Additionally, the two Joker films, The Batman, and Gotham PD would constitute the first true separate universe from the one established in Man of Steel.NightwingRelease Date: TBDWhat We Know: As of February 2018, The LEGO Batman Movie’s Chris McKay was still developing a project centered on the first Robin, Dick Grayson. A final draft from screenwriter Bill Dubuque was due at the time, but there has been no movement since. Reportedly, the film has been postponed in anticipation of The Batman, which may ultimately introduce its own version of Dick Grayson. In June of 2021, McKay told CinemaBlend, I hope it’s still a reality. I hope that we still get to make that movie. As far as I’m concerned, it’s not lost yet. How It Fits in the DC Multiverse: As established in Justice League, the Robin costume in the Batcave is not Dick Grayson’s uniform, suggesting plans for Nightwing go all the way back to the 2014 masterplan. A solo film would presumably see the character living in Bludhaven (Grayson’s adopted city in the comics) and coming to grips with becoming his own hero. McKay also plans to direct a new Dungeons Dragons film and a feature film version of Johnny Quest, so it is hard to tell if Nightwing will happen anytime soon. Last time McKay was asked about it, he said fans will have

What Men Want (2019) 41% Generally speaking, romantic comedies are so formulaic that it usually takes something really out of the ordinary to stand out. Back in 2001, Nancy Meyers achieved great box office success less so with critics with the high-concept comedy What Women Want, which explored what would happen if an egocentric man were suddenly gifted with the ability to read the minds of women. That movie also benefited from a talented cast that included Helent Hunt, Marisa Tomei, Alan Alda, and a pre-controversy Mel Gibson. Fast forward to 2019, and we now have a gender-swapped version of the tale starring Taraji P. Henson as a female sports agent who, suddenly able to read men s thoughts, uses her newfound power to rise in her career and learn a few lessons about the opposite sex. Critics so far have responded to What Men Want about the same as they did to the original film, saying that its leads and lighthearted story are l

Ron Perlman has played some monster characters throughout his career, notably the titular Hellboy in two Guillermo del Toro–directed films about that red, horned, cigar-smoking comic book anti-hero; the grizzled gang leader Clay Morrow in FX biker drama Sons of Anarchy; and even his breakout role as Vincent from CBS s live-action Beauty and the Beast series, in which he starred opposite Linda Hamilton. With his latest series, he adds to the list. A lot of the characters that I ve played without makeup that are, you know, seemingly human are the most monstrous things I ve ever done, Perlman told Rotten Tomatoes when discussing new Peacock series, The Capture, which premieres on the launch day of NBC s new streaming service. The Capture — so incredibly well-rendered and so smart, the actor said — takes viewers deep into a highly surveilled world in which anyone with the wherewithal, and motive, can alter video footage and place a crime that never happened at the foot of a would-be criminal of their choosing. In the six-episode series, which was recently renewed by the BBC for a second season, Perlman plays Frank Napier, a CIA official leading a small team that monitors CCTV, the UK s expansive network of security cameras, in the name of upholding justice. But at what cost does such justice come where video evidence of a crime that was supposedly committed, may have been a hoax all along?(Photo by BBC/Heyday Films/Nick Wall)Perlman co-stars opposite Holliday Grainger (Patrick Melrose) as DI Rachel Carey and Callum Turner (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald) as Shawn Emery, a former soldier framed for murder. With recent technological breakthroughs in deep-fake technology and the ever-growing trend of distrusting facts, the series fictional concept of Correction (the truth-altering tech featured in the series) feels both completely terrifying and absolutely plausible. [It s about] things I m personally obsessed with, in regards to the people that we look to in order to keep us safe and protected, Perlman said. How pure can we expect their motivations to be? Are their personal agendas spilling over into the things that (we hope) they do for purely ideological reasons? You know, for, hopefully, the greater good? These are all important questions to ask, especially when the news cycle is continuously recounting stories of law enforcement entities and government agencies that aren t exactly serving the people s best interests.Speaking on the series, and the many issues currently facing Americans, Perlman is quick to identify the  ripped apart nature of our politics where you don t know what you re being sold or who s selling it to you, a lot of the time. And for an actor who has been famously outspoken in his progressive beliefs on Twitter — he was briefly suspended from the platform in 2019 for comments made in a now-deleted tweet celebrating the death of Koch Industries Vice Chairman David Koch, and he recently got involved in an online scuffle with Republican Sen. Ted Cruz — his decision to play a conservative-leaning character in a questionable position of power becomes more intriguing. In The Capture, Perlman s Frank makes some callous choices and steps over the line of morality more than once in the interest of upholding national and international security. When asked if Napier is a monster, the actor has trouble giving a definitive answer. You can make an argument that Frank is so multifaceted that it s hard to figure out where the monster in him ends and the humanity begins, Perlman explained. So I mean, one of the fascinating things about trying to figure out how to play the guy is, for the whole history of the show, you ll walk away not knowing, was he a good guy? Was he a bad guy? I just don t know. (Photo by Sony Pictures)On the big screen, Perlman continues to team up with his close friend Del Toro. In the long-awaited new adaptation of Pinocchio, he plays Mangiafuoco, a character known to many as Stromboli, thanks to Walt Disney s 1940 film classic. He also appears in Paul W.S. Anderson s upcoming Monster Hunter, a big-budget movie adaptation of Capcom s action role-playing video game of the same name that stars Milla Jovovich and Tony Jaa. The movie was scheduled to open this September, but has been pushed back to April 2021. Perlman, who described his role as Admiral in the flick to Comic Book Movie as a lot of chewing the scenery, was mostly mum about specific story details, but gave an impression of what to expect. I m not a gamer, so I m not familiar with the video game, Perlman said. I know that it has a huge following and huge popularity. I know that the production that Sony gave it, under the great leadership of Paul W.S. Anderson, was top draw. You know, it was just such a phenomenal experience and seemed like we were making a big-time movie — lots of titillating juicy battle scenes and chase scenes. There are a lot of high stakes, so this should be a good one to watch. And what about that a highly-publicized Twitter spat between Perlman and Cruz? The whole thing began after the U.S. Soccer Federation repealed its policy that prohibited athletes from kneeling during the national anthem as an act of protest against police brutality. The news drew ire from the likes of President Donald Trump and Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz who shamed the sports institution. Perlman soon added his two cents on Twitter, saying, The US Soccer team called and you guessed it said they couldn’t give any less of a f k about what you two dips ts think.”A follow-up tweet, directed at Gaetz and showing a photo of  Rep. Jim Jordan, a former wrestling coach accused of ignoring athletes reports of abuse by a doctor at Ohio State University, caught the attention of Cruz and sparked the war of words between the actor and the senator, who challenged Perlman to a wrestling match — with Jordan. The bizarre back-and-forth led Perlman to present a counteroffer to Cruz, promoting the idea that if the senator himself would face him in the ring, he d donate ,000 dollars to Black Lives Matter. They traded a few more barbs before things quieted down, but Perlman is still up for the challenge.Though he has made it very clear that he ll never play Hellboy on the big screen again, Perlman said he may be willing to reprise the role through voice-over in a virtual wrestling match with Cruz — perhaps in an animated special akin to, say, MTV s old Celebrity Death Match cartoon series. Would he step into Hellboy s shoes one more time for such a special occasion? Absolutely, said Perlman, laughing. [Cruz has] just said so many things that are so damaging to the concept of human discourse. He s one of the guys who has the most deleterious effect on the American consciousness, which is: He s designed to make us cynical. He s designed to make us disengaged. He s designed his whole modus operandi to say stuff that makes us into disbelievers rather than people who are rallying around some beautiful concepts that Americans pledge allegiance to. He s a diabolical villain. And so any chance I get virtually to have a smackdown with this motherf er, I would jump at the opportunity.  The Capture launches on Peacock on July 15.
Natalia Tena (Harry Potter franchise, Game of Thrones) and newcomer Sen Mitsuji star in a tense moment of shoot-the-impostor from YouTube Premium s new original series Origin. The sci-fi thriller, about a group of passengers fighting for survival on a spacecraft headed for another planet, also stars Harry Potter alum Tom Felton.Origin is created, written and executive produced by Mika Watkins (Troy: Fall of a City).Release date: All 10 episodes of Origin debut on YouTube Premium on November 14.
Nevertheless, Garland noted conversations moving from the possibility of a mulitverse where free will exists to a deterministic view where there is no choice elicits an equally strong emotional response.“If I have a conversation with people about free will, nobody likes the idea that they don t have it. And it is completely in contradiction with our own sense — ‘But I absolutely, definitely have free will. I can feel it now,’ [they say], which is again, it s what people feel, but it may not be supported by the data.”That view, as espoused by Forest, leads Devs’ main character, Lily Chan (Sonoya Mizuno), onto her collision course with the warm and melancholy Amaya CEO. And while discussing Lilly’s actions would lead to a level of spoilers we definitely cannot reveal in this or any other reality, it did lead to another question the show presents: Do ethics exist in a deterministic universe?“I don t personally think it takes ethics and morality out of the conversation, I just think it means you react differently to the state of affairs,” Garland said.(Photo by Miya Mizuno/FX)To illustrate morality in a deterministic universe, he used a 15-year-old boy mugging someone at knife point as an example. In a universe with free will, the boy’s punishment (provided he is caught) proceeds from the notion he is in absolute control of his choices.“If you take deterministic view, you might say, ‘Well, hang on a minute. Because this kid is a crystal meth addict, and both his parents were crystal meth addicts, and he was addicted by the time he was 12, and he was trapped in a world that had given him a very distorted sense of ethics, and, as well as that, a sense of desperation, and no home, that led ultimately to the mugging.’ Under those circumstances, punishing the kid makes much less sense. Rehabilitating a kid makes much more sense.”“What we do then is make sure that [the kid doesn’t] do it again, Garland suggested. So, that doesn t remove the ethics, because you still don t want the kid to mug anybody. It s just more that you re not punishing him for something that wasn t his own decision.”Of course, Garland was quick to point out that while his example leads to a morality with more empathy and compassion, it also suggests atrocities are also unavoidable in a deterministic universe. “I don t think anybody wants to let Adolf Hitler off the hook in the way that you might let a 15-year-old off the hook,” he quipped.Nonetheless, the morality of what Forest calls “tram lines” will no doubt feature in discussions of Devs when its full shape is revealed with the show s finale six weeks from now.

With Stephen King s name behind it and a resurgence of interest in nostalgia-fueled entertainment, 2017 s It was probably always going to be successful, but few could have predicted that it would earn widespread critical acclaim (Certified Fresh at 86%) and break box office records when it first opened. The runaway success of the film, which covered just half of King s behemoth source novel, only further guaranteed that the sequel necessary to complete the story would be produced in short order, and that s what we got this past weekend. As it turned out, fewer critics were on board with It: Chapter Two, resulting in a 64% on the Tomatometer, but it debuted right behind its predecessor to achieve the second-highest grossing horror film opening and second-highest grossing opening in September ever.So we know audiences absolutely turned out to see the film, but what did they think of it? Based on over 12,000 verified audience reviews, It: Chapter Two currently holds an Audience Score of 80%, just a few points shy of the first film s 84% Audience Score, even though the critics found it far less satisfying. With that in mind, we decided to dig into the audience reviews themselves to see what it was that regular moviegoers saw in Chapter Two that the critics didn t. Check out the user reviews of It: Chapter Two and let us know what you thought of the film, and these reviews, in the comments. (Note, some of the reviews have been slightly edited for length and grammar/spelling.)(Photo by Brooke Palmer/© 2019 WARNER BROS. ENTERTAINMENT INC.)How does it compare to the first chapter? My first thought when it was over was, There was no need for this film. It basically tells the same story as the first one, except with adults. Anne M, 3 starsIf you like chapter 1, you ll like this. The Weasel, 4 starsI personally loved it more than the first. Cody A, 5 starsJust as fantastic as chapter one!– Simon B, 5 StarsAnd what about the 1990 TV miniseries?Loved it. Almost as good as the original, but no one can beat Tim! Didn’t even feel that long.  Ross K, 4.5 starsI felt I had way more closure and understanding of the story once the end came than I did over the original version of It. Michael, 4.5 stars(Photo by Warner Bros. Pictures)Is it scary?Felt like it was dragged out, and it wasn t scary at all.  Joey, 1.5 starsCouldn t figure out if it was trying to be funny or be a parody of itself, but it broke up any intensity it could have had. Adam R, 2.5 starsIt didn t scare me, but it was sure funny. I could not stop laughing! It was good. Trenton S, 3.5 starsThis one actually scared me. At some times I was literally on the edge of my seat. Altogether a good film. Kyle, 4.5 starsI haven’t seen a scary movie in years I mean years, maybe a decade or so that made me wanna go get baptized, christened, I mean, some type of soul-saving. Seriously. Now I’m scared of the following things: Baby hands, pomeranians, lumberjacks, old people (sorry, grandmom), fortune cookies you know, everyday s t. Thanks, Stephen. Stevie P, 5 starsIs it emotional? It tried to be heartwarming in the end but fell short of that. It was kind of caught between fantasy and reality and couldn t figure out where it wanted to rest. Adam R, 2.5 starsIt: Chapter Two brought a heartfelt ending to the 2-part story but fell short. It just feels like a movie I’d only watch one time and forget about later. Christian A, 2.5 starsI wasn t planning on crying in two separate scenes during this movie. Chris S, 5 stars(Photo by Warner Bros. Pictures)Is it faithful to the source material?A gorgeous, wonderfully acted, fluidly directed, faithful, and emotionally satisfying second half (NOT SEQUEL ask King and Muschietti) to what is possibly the first true horror epic. Andy S, 4.5 starsI thought it followed the book really, really well, and it was a lot scarier. Hanna, 4.5 starsTrue to the book. Loved seeing the kids again in chapter two. Pennywise is creepily good 🎈🎈😆😆. ScoobyDoo, 5 starsIs the length a problem?Way too long and drawn out. Lucinda, 1 starMovie was way too long. Boring.  Carlos, 1.5 starsIt was too long. It was too slow. It was too cliche. It was too predictable. It was too repetitive. It would do something once. Then It would do it again. Then It would do it again. Then It would do it again. It often seemed more like a hackneyed action movie than a horror movie.  Pat C, 2 starsBecause it was so similar to chapter 1, I kept glancing at my watch. It felt slow, perhaps because they wanted to give each actor some time to shine in their own mini-story. Anne M, 3 starsIt didn t feel like it was nearly three hours long. Hanna, 4.5 starsCould have been edited down a bit; a lot of unnecessary scenes for a movie that s almost three hours long. All in all, a good movie. Mike M, 4 stars(Photo by Brooke Palmer/© 2019 WARNER BROS. ENTERTAINMENT INC.)And how is the cast?It did have James McAvoy, who was good. It had Bill Hader, who was great. It also had a red-headed chick, a furrowed-eyebrow guy, a buff guy, and a token guy. Mostly though, It was just disappointing. Pat C, 2 starsWell-acted, true, but the kids were just as good. Anne M, 3 starsBill Hader was easily the best character in this movie! Trenton S, 3.5 starsIt is well acted by all. Big props to Bill Hader s wisecracking, yet not overdone, performance. Could have used a little more Pennywise, but definitely one of the better Stephen King adaptations.  Allen L, 4 starsThe casting was perfect and the ending was beautiful. Hanna, 4.5 starsCheck out all of the user reviews for It: Chapter Two. Like this? Subscribe to our newsletter and get more features, news, and guides in your inbox every week.

Ghcxuf 5. TIFFANY HADDISH, WILLEM DAFOE JOIN PAUL SCHRADER S THE CARD COUNTER(Photo by Elizabeth Goodenough, Jef Hernandez/Everett Collection)The latest film from writer and director Paul Schrader was 2017 s First Reformed (Certified Fresh at 93%), in which Ethan Hawke played a priest struggling with religious doubt and commitment to his faith. For his next film, Schrader will shift from the church to the casino (sort of). Oscar Isaac went into this week already attached to star in The Card Counter as a professional gambler who finds himself recruited into a revenge plot against a military colonel. This week, Isaac was joined by three more stars, including Tiffany Haddish (as a mysterious gambling financier ), Tye Sheridan, and Willem Dafoe (as the colonel). Martin Scorsese, who directed early Paul Schrader screenplays like Taxi Driver and Raging Bull, also signed on this week to executive produce the film.6. MARGARET QUALLEY JOINS SCOTT COOPER S HORROR FILM A HEAD FULL OF GHOSTS(Photo by Daniel McFadden/©Warner Bros.)Margot Robbie obviously had the highest profile female role in Quentin Tarantino s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, but the film also boosted the careers of some of its other actresses (including child star Julia Butters, who is now 10 years old). Many of the film s female stars portrayed members of the Manson Family, and the actress with the largest role within that group was Margaret Qualley (The Nice Guys, HBO s The Leftovers), who played the young lady who brought Brad Pitt s character to the Spahn Ranch. One of Qualley s next projects will be a psychological horror film called A Head Full of Ghosts, which will be an adaptation of a Bram Stoker Award-winning horror novel. A Head Full of Ghosts will be directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart, Black Mass, Hostiles), who will soon be releasing another horror film, Antlers (4/17/2020).7. LIAM NEESON TO STAR AS AN ASSASSIN FOR CASINO ROYALE DIRECTOR (Photo by Maria Marin/©Sony Classics) Last year, Liam Neeson starred in the thriller Cold Pursuit as a snowplow driver, and he also recently wrapped filming on another similar movie, The Ice Road, as a truck driver like the ones on Ice Road Truckers. After so much time spent filming those movies in Canada, Neeson apparently told his agents to get him into a movie that will send him to sunnier climes, because that s what his latest apparently is. Liam Neeson is now attached to star as a world class assassin  in the crime thriller Memory for director Martin Campbell, whose past films have included both Green Lantern (Rotten at 26%) and Daniel Craig s first movie as James Bond, Casino Royale (Certified Fresh at 95%).8. ORIGINAL FIRST WIVES CLUB STARS TO REUNITE FOR FAMILY JEWELS The BET+ cable network recently started airing a First Wives Club show adapted from both the 1996 movie of the same title and, ostensibly, the novel from which that movie itself adapted. This story has less to do with First Wives Club itself, however, and more to do with the three actresses who starred in the 1996 movie together: Diane Keaton, Goldie Hawn, and Bette Midler. As that movie nears its 25th anniversary (next year in 2021), its three leading ladies are now preparing to co-star in another comedy together. The movie will be called Family Jewels, and it s described as a multigenerational holiday comedy about three women who are forced to spend the holidays together after the death of the man to whom all three women were once married. The multigenerational part hints at a larger ensemble cast, but no other cast members, or the actor who will play their recently deceased ex-husband, have been announced yet.9. ANIMATED KIDS SHOW PAW PATROL COMING TO THEATERS IN AUGUST OF 2021 (Photo by Nickelodeon courtesy Everett Collection)Some animated kids shows are able to appeal to adults as well (SpongeBob SquarePants), and others bridge both audiences over time (Dora the Explorer did this, arguably), but then there are shows that seem to pretty much remain kids shows. One that seems like it s still solidly in the just for kids category (after seven seasons) is Nickelodeon s PAW Patrol. The show centers on a young boy who teams up with a variety of different dogs (some of whom can fly or have other cyborg parts) for a wide range of different rescue-related adventures. Paramount and Nickelodeon are now developing a CGI-animated feature-length Paw Patrol: The Movie, which is being scheduled for release sometime in August of 2021. The only other movie currently scheduled for that month is James Gunn s The Suicide Squad (8/6/2021). PAW Patrol: The Movie will be directed by Cal Brunker, whose previous animated features include The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature (Rotten at 14%), Escape from Planet Earth (Rotten at 35%), and Arctic Dogs (Rotten at 13%).10. ORPHAN TO GET PREQUEL FROM DIRECTOR OF BRAHMS: THE BOY II (Photo by Warner Bros. courtesy Everett Collection)The review embargo for this week s horror sequel Brahms: The Boy II wasn t lifted until today, and the film s Rotten Tomatometer score might offer a hint as to why. Getting ahead of the film s release, director William Brent Bell was able to get two other projects in the news this week before the reviews hit. The higher profile project is another follow up to a horror movie from a few years ago, except that this one is a prequel, and the movie it s following is far longer ago than 2015 s The Boy. Bell will next direct Esther, which will be a prequel to the 2009 horror film Orphan (Rotten at 56%). That role will almost certainly have to be recast, because Isabelle Fuhrmann, who played Esther in Orphan, is now 22 years old, and unlikely to pull off playing a nine-year-old girl again (especially in a prequel). Filming of Esther is expected to start in the third quarter of 2020, which means it will probably be released sometime in 2021. William Brent Bell is also attached to direct Lord of Misrule, which is described as being a contemporary folk horror film in the style of Midsommar or The Wicker Man. 😈😈

极品飞车7中文版 This week s Ketchup brings you more headlines from the world of film development news, covering new projects for stars like Idris Elba, Morgan Freeman, and Owen Wilson. This WEEK S TOP STORYCHRISTOPHER NOLAN  TO TAKE ON TRUE STORY OF ATOMIC BOMB INVENTOR (Photo by Melinda Sue Gordon/©Paramount Pictures)Every once in a while, pop culture hits upon a certain peanut butter and chocolate combination that goes together far better than you could ve guessed. In 2014, that happened when Warner Bros. revealed the very first teaser for their reboot of Godzilla (Certified Fresh at 76%), featuring the ominous voice of atomic bomb creator J. Robert Oppenheimer saying, over scenes of mass destruction, I am now become death, destroyer of worlds. (J. Robert Oppenhimer was a very serious dude.) Now, another very serious dude, Christopher Nolan, is preparing his next film after Tenet (Fresh at 70%), and it s a drama about J. Robert Oppenheimer and his involvement in the development of the atomic bomb during World War II, which led to the destruction of the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The screenplay is reportedly finished and being looked at by various studios, which is something of a departure for Nolan, who has pretty consistently worked with Warner Bros. for most of his career as a Hollywood director (not counting his early films like Memento). The reason for Nolan s interest in shopping around his Oppenheimer drama is being interpreted by press as being directly related to Nolan s dissatisfaction with Tenet debuting on streaming day-and-date with theatrical, which included Nolan slamming HBO Max as the worst streaming service. No definite casting decisions have been made, but frequent Nolan collaborator Cillian Murphy (Nolan s Scarecrow in Batman Begins, for example) might be in the runnning to star as Oppenheimer. (Cillian Murphy, also a very serious dude).Other Top Headlines1. SECRET TRAILER FOR P.T. ANDERSON S NEXT FILM DEBUTS AT SELECT CINEMAS(Photo by Laurie Sparham /© Focus Features)While decades like the 1980s and 1960s continue to leave prominent, long-lasting impressions on pop culture, the 1970s offer some pretty amazing relics, too. Consider, for example, the Licorice Pizza record store chain named for the physical appearance of a vinyl record which once had 34 locations throughout California until it was bought by Musicland in 1986. This week, we learned that Licorice Pizza happens to be the new title of the latest California period piece (previously called Soggy Bottom) from director Paul Thomas Anderson, who previously gave us the similarly themed Boogie Nights (Certified Fresh at 93%). The trailer appeared at theaters around the world in front of very specific films, such as American Graffiti and Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, suggesting someone chose those films for a reason. The trailer, which hasn t appeared online (yet), also reveals that Maya Rudolph and Tom Waits, who hadn t previously been announced, are also part of the film s cast, which also includes Bradley Cooper, Sean Penn, and Philip Seymour Hoffman s son Cooper Hoffman in a lead role.2. PARASITE CO-STAR JOINS THE MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE (Photo by Neon)The surprise wins for Parasite (Certified Fresh at 98%) at last year s Academy Awards (including Best Picture and Best Director) are still slowly having an impact, although arguably slower than usual. South Korean actor Seo Jun Park, who had a supporting role in Parasite, recently departed from Seoul to start filming on an unspecified Marvel Studios film, but most sources have guessed that the project in question is the Captain Marvel sequel called The Marvels (11/11/2022). (The Marvels isn t the only MCU movie currently filming, as the two others are Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania). Presuming it is indeed The Marvels that Seo Jun Park is joining, it s unclear what character he might be playing, but the fansites already have some good guesses.3. OWEN WILSON AND ROSARIO DAWSON JOIN HAUNTED MANSION REMAKE(Photo by Priscilla Grant/Everett Collection)Walt Disney Pictures is currently casting up their next attempt at adapting the theme park attraction Haunted Mansion, which was previously adapted as a 2003 movie (Rotten at 14%) starring Eddie Murphy. Before this week, Tiffany Haddish and LaKeith Stanfield were already attached to star in the new Haunted Mansion, and this week, they were joined by two more stars. On Tuesday, Owen Wilson (who co-starred earlier this summer in Loki on Disney+) joined Haunted Mansion in an unknown role, and then the next day, Rosario Dawson also joined the remake. In related news, the made-for-streaming movie Muppets Haunted Mansion will debut on Disney+ on October 8, 2021.4. IDRIS ELBA SAYS WE ALL DIE YOUNG (Photo by Michael Gibson/STX Entertainment)Daveed Diggs might be best known for his dual roles in Hamilton (Certified Fresh at 97%) as Thomas Jefferson and Marquis de Lafayette, but Diggs also co-wrote and starred in the indie comedy hit Blindspotting (Certified Fresh at 94%). Now, another screenplay written by Diggs is reportedly a hot sales package at the Toronto International Film Festival market. Idris Elba, Justice Smith (Pokémon Detective Pikachu), and Taylour Paige (Ma Rainey s Black Bottom) are attached to star in the drama We All Die Young, which will be directed by Jake Schreier (Robot Frank, Certified Fresh at 86%; Paper Towns, Rotten at 58%). Smith will star in We All Die Young as a rapper in the midst of breaking big who s undertaking the biggest live tour anyone has ever seen (the screenplay is also drawing comparisons to Fellini s 8 1/2).5. FOUR SCREEN LEGENDS JOIN RETIREMENT HOME FILM NOIR(Photo by Derek Storm, Elizabeth Goodenough/Everett Collection)Taylor Hackford has a long career dating back to the early 1980s that has resulted in two Academy Award nominations for Best Directing (An Officer and a Gentleman and Ray), but in the 17 years since Ray, his Tomatometer scores have all been Rotten. Hackford may be swinging for the fences with his new film, Sniff, which is described as a stylish reinvention of the film noir genre set at a high-end luxury retirement community. Sniff is being sold at the Toronto Internatiional Film Festival this week with four impressive movie stars attached, three of whom have won Academy Awards for acting, while the fourth is a nominee: Morgan Freeman, Al Pacino, Danny DeVito, and Helen Mirren (also, perhaps not coincidentally, Mrs. Taylor Hackford). Freeman will play a retired detective, DeVito will play his partner, Pacino will play a kingpin, and Helen Mirren will play his femme fatale enforcer. 6. GEORGE BERNARD SHAW TO GET THE SAVING MR. BANKS TREATMENT (Photo by Keystone Features/Getty Images)Hollywood has a long history of depicting its own relationship with writers and screenwriters, such as Barton Fink, Adaptation, and last year s multiple Academy Award-winner Mank. A similar (but less common) trope involves the writer of a popular story or character who is wooed by Hollywood to sell the rights, such as with the making-of-Mary-Poppins comedy Saving Mr. Banks. Like Mary Poppins author P.L. Travers, George Bernard Shaw was also apparently hesitant about selling a popular play to Hollywood was George Bernard Shaw; his Pygmalion was first adapted as a movie in 1938 (Fresh at 90%) before it was adapted again as the more popular classic film My Fair Lady (Certified Fresh at 95%), which won eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor (Rex Harrison). The story of how it all started in 1933 will soon be told in the film Mr. Shaw Goes to Hollywood. Emmy- and BAFTA-winning British actor Derek Jacobi will star as George Bernard Shaw, alongside Dustin Hoffman (as Louis B. Mayer), Sam Neill (as William Randolph Hearst), Eileen Atkins, Aidan Turner (as Clark Gable), and Brittany Snow.7. BEST SELLING 1980S DOLL TEDDY RUXPIN FINALLY READY FOR THE MOVIES (Photo by South China Morning Post/Getty Images)Teddy Ruxpin was a talking teddy bear that was first introduced for the Christmas season of 1985, and it quickly became the best selling toy for that year and for 1986. When Chucky starred in the original Child s Play horror film in 1988, he didn t look anything like Teddy Ruxpin, but an argument can be made that it was an inspiration (and horror fans have since written Teddy Ruxpin stories online). Teddy Ruxpin himself, however, never got a movie (and the Teddy Ruxpin TV show only ran for one season). Nostalgia is a strong incentive for the movies, however, so DJ2 Entertainment, the production company behind video game adaptations like Sonic the Hedgehog and Tomb Raider, has acquired the film and TV rights to Teddy Ruxpin and is reportedly talking to potential writers with the goal of a Sonic the Hedgehog-style live action/animation movie that would then lead into an animated TV series. On an Apple device? 极品飞车7中文版 This Week s Ketchup brings you more headlines from the world of film development news, covering such titles as The Flash, Kraven the Hunter, and Gucci. This WEEK S TOP STORYOLIVIA WILDE MIGHT BE DIRECTING A SPIDER-WOMAN MOVIE FOR SONY(Photo by Francois Duhamel/©Annapurna Pictures)Although SPUMC is a pretty clumsy abbreviation, Sony Pictures does indeed have a massive Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters slate planned. In addition to Venom and the upcoming Morbius (3/19/2021, delayed from 7/10/2021 because of COVID-19), the SPUMC development slate currently includes: Jackpot, Kraven the Hunter (see story below), Madame Web, Nightwatch, Silk, and The Sinister Six. One of the most talked about stories of the week was the announcement that Sony Pictures has officially hired actress-turned-director Olivia Wilde for an untitled female-centric Marvel movie. Most of the stories about Wilde s hiring speculate that the secret project is probably Spider-Woman, A.K.A. Jessica Drew, who debuted in the comics in 1977, before soon after getting her own Saturday morning cartoon (which you can now watch on Disney+). It s also possible that Olivia Wilde s project could be about another Spider woman hero, like Silk, Ghost-Spider (A.K.A. Spider-Gwen), Madame Web, or someone never mentioned for a movie before like Spider-Girl or Araña (Peter Parker has got a lot of female counterparts). Olivia Wilde s next project as director will be a thriller called Don t Worry Darling, starring Florence Pugh, Dakota Johnson, Shia LaBeouf, and Chris Pine.Other Top Headlines1. THE FLASH WILL PROMINENTLY FEATURE TWO FORMER BATMEN(Photo by ©Warner Bros. courtesy Everett Collection)We ve known for some time that the long planned DC Comics solo movie for The Flash (starring Ezra Miller from Justice League) is likely to involve the popular Flashpoint storyline, in which The Flash s attempt to change the past results in all sorts of alternate reality craziness. There have been recent rumors that The Flash could feature past Batman actors like Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck, but this week, we appeared to receive confirmation that both of them will indeed return as their versions of Batman. Let s start with Ben Affleck, who at one point appeared to be done with playing Batman, especially when Twilight star Robert Pattinson signed on to star in the long-in-development The Batman (10/1/2021), which at one point was supposed to have starred Affleck. Affleck reportedly had notes on the script before he agreed to sign on to return in The Flash. (You can read much more speculation about the possible impact of this  right here). As we said earlier, Affleck won t be the only returning Batman, as Michael Keaton from the original 1989 Batman will also be coming back, in what is now being called a substantial role, versus what had previously been thought to just be a cameo of some sort. Although the COVID-19 pandemic obviously continues to have an impact on release dates, The Flash is currently scheduled for release on June 2, 2022.2. WILL SMITH AND KEVIN HART BOARD THE PLANES, TRAINS, AUTOMOBILES REMAKE (Photo by Paramount courtesy Everett Collection)Despite the ongoing love affair with 1980s movies, and the wave of remakes of 1980s movies, one of the most beloved directors of the 1980s John Hughes has basically been left untouched (Hughes wrote, but didn t direct, the original Vacation, which was remade in 2015). That will likely soon change, as Paramount Pictures is now actively developing a remake of the 1987 classic Planes, Trains Automobiles (Certified Fresh at 91%), starring Steve Martin and John Candy as fellow travelers who face a series of obstacles in their attempts to get home for Thanksgiving. The new Planes, Trains Automobiles is being developed for Paramount by Will Smith s Westbrook Studios and Kevin Hart s Hartbeat Productions as a star vehicle for both of them. It s unconfirmed which star will be reprising which role, but our money is on Smith to play the harried family man and Kevin Hart to play the sad-sack loner. Television writer Aeysha Carr (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Fresh at 95%) has been hired to make her feature film debut adapting the film.3. LADY GAGA S GUCCI MAY BE JOINED BY DE NIRO, PACINO, DRIVER, AND LETO(Photo by ©Netflix)Some movies seem to be intended from their very inception as possible awards contenders, and from the day we first heard about Ridley Scott s Gucci, starring Lady Gaga as Patricia Reggiani, it seemed like exactly that sort of film. Having said that, there s Oscar bait and then there s OSCAR BAIT, and you don t get much more Oscar Baity than the casting coup Scott was able to manage this week. In addition to Lady Gaga s three nominations and one Academy Award, and Ridley Scott s four Academy Award nominations, the actors cast in Gucci this week have received a total of four Academy Award wins (for The Godfather Part II, Raging Bull, Scent of a Woman, and Dallas Buyers Club) and a grand total of twenty Academy Award acting nominations. The actors in question are Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Jared Leto, and Adam Driver (who s no slouch either, with nominations for both BlackKklansman and Marriage Story). Boardwalk Empire star Jack Huston and Broadway star Reeve Carney are also in talks for roles. If both De Niro and Pacino do sign on for Gucci, it will be their fifth film acting together, following The Godfather Part II, Heat, Righteous Kill, and The Irishman. MGM currently has Gucci scheduled for release on November 24, 2021.4. THE MANDALORIAN STAR PEDRO PASCAL TO OBSESS OVER NICOLAS CAGE (Photo by Eli Winston/Everett Collection)One of the most fun movie news stories of 2019 came in November (just before we entered the trainwreck that is 2020) when we first heard about The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, in which Nicolas Cage will play a fictionalized version of himself. This week, we learned that Cage s co-star will be Pedro Pascal, who is coming off the Disney+ hit The Mandalorian and is scheduled to appear as villain Maxwell Lord in the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984. Pascal s casting brings with it a better understanding of exactly what this movie will be about. Nicolas Cage will play a washed up, unfulfilled, and financially impaired version of himself who agrees to attend a birthday party of a super fan (Pedro Pascal) for a million dollars. The party soon turns dangerously obsessive as Cage must must stay alive by recreating his most beloved moments as an actor. (Keep in mind that this is the same guy who ate a cockroach for Vampire s Kiss). We have yet to learn if any bees will be involved.5. SPIDER-MAN VILLAIN KRAVEN THE HUNTER TO RECEIVE HIS OWN MOVIE (Photo by Marvel Comics)The news about the possible Spider-Woman movie sort of absorbed most of the Marvel movie attention this week, but there was actually major movement for another film to be set in the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters (SPUMC). To start off, we should note that earlier this month, there was a rumor that Sony and Marvel were seeking a Joel-Kinnaman-type for Tom Holland s third Spider-Man movie, which many interpreted as being for the role of old school Spidey villain Kraven the Hunter (also one of Spider-Man s few classic villains who hasn t yet been depicted in a live-action movie). We still don t know if there are any plans to introduce Kraven in the next Spider-Man, but we do know that Sony is now developing a Kraven the Hunter movie, as the studio is now in talks with director J.C. Chandor (A Most Violent Year, Triple Frontier). Kraven the Hunter dates all the way back to 1964 and The Amazing Spider-Man #15, but the arguably definitive Kraven story arc is 1987 s Kraven s Last Hunt (which may be part of the inspiration for the Kraven the Hunter movie as well). We should also note that there has been talk about Sony developing a Kraven the Hunter movie at least as far back as 2017 (along with Mysterio, who eventually made his debut in last year s Spider-Man: Far from Home, played by Jake Gyllenhaal).6. PETE DAVIDSON AND O SHEA JACKSON JR. TO TAKE ON SNEAKER CULTURE (Photo by ©NEON, Mary Cybulski/©Universal Pictures)In addition to the aforementioned Planes, Trains Automobiles remake, Kevin Hart s HartBeat Production also made the news this week for partnering with NBA star Chris Paul of the Oklahoma City Thunder for a dramedy called American Sole. Pete Davidson (Saturday Night Live, The King of Staten Island) and O Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton, and also Ice Cube s son) are both attached to star in American Sole, which is set in the world of after-market sneakers as two college graduates who attempt to get out of debt by getting into the lucrative market of reselling sneakers for much higher markups (which reportedly is now estimated to be worth over billion in sales each year). Camila Mendes, who plays Veronica Lodge on The CW s Riverdale, also joined American Sole this week as the girlfriend of Pete Davidson s character.7. BJORK JOINS ROBERT EGGERS VIKING EPIC THE NORTHMAN(Photo by Ronald Siemoneit/Getty Images)The COVID-19 pandemic has delayed all aspects of filmmaking, both in and out of Hollywood, but one of the more obvious examples is the Vikings epic The Northman, which had to shut down just a week before production was to start in March. This week, director Robert Eggers (The Witch, The Lighthouse) was finally able to start principal production of The Northman on the elaborate sets that have been assembled in rural Ireland. Most of the epic s cast had already been announced months ago, including Eggers The Lighthouse star Willem Dafoe, Anya Taylor-Joy from The Witch, Nicole Kidman, and brothers Alexander Skarsgård (HBO s True Blood) and Bill Skarsgård (Pennywise from IT). The new addition this week was Icelandic pop star Bjork, who is reportedly playing a character called The Slav Witch, which sort of makes sense (Bjork actually made her feature film debut 30 years ago in 1990 with the Icelandic witchcraft fairy tale The Juniper Tree).8. LAURENCE FISHBURNE SAYS HE WASN T ASKED TO COME BACK FOR THE MATRIX 4 (Photo by ©Warner Bros. courtesy Everett Collection)There is an expression in comic book fandom that goes, No one stays dead except Uncle Ben (humorously, that saying used to include Bucky Barnes and Jason Todd, until they both got revived). The trope about dead characters eventually coming back for financial reasons also applies frequently to the movies (like, say, the slasher villains in the Halloween and Friday the 13th franchises). So, one might have thought that Laurence Fishburne could be brought back as Morpheus in The Matrix 4, but this week, Fishburne clarified, I have not been invited. Also this week, Keanu Reeves spoke to press about the safety protocols on The Matrix 4 as production has resumed on sets in Germany. Filming had begun in February in San Francisco until moving on briefly to Berlin, but as with most film projects at the time, production of The Matrix 4 was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Keanu Reeves fellow cast members will include Carrie-Anne Moss and Jada Pinkett Smith (from the original trilogy) and newcomers Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (rumored to be playing the young Morpheus), Priyanka Chopra Jones, and Neil Patrick Harris. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to regularly cause release date changes, but for now, The Matrix 4 is scheduled for April 1st, 2022.9. POTENTIAL NEW GHOSTFACE VICTIMS ANNOUNCED FOR SCREAM 5 (Photo by Dimension Films courtesy Everett Collection)In March of this year, we first learned that the directors and producers of last year s horror comedy Ready or Not (Certified Fresh at 88%) had signed on to direct the long-awaited sequel Scream 5. For the most part, casting until this week mostly involved the announcements of returning franchise stars Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, David Arquette as Dewey Riley, and Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers-Riley. This week, two different young actresses were announced, starting with Melissa Barrera, who will be one of the stars of Lin-Manuel Miranda s In the Heights when that movie is eventually released in 2021 (delayed from this summer). Two days later, Jane the Virigin co-star Jenna Ortega also joined the cast. In related (and unsurprising) news, Samara Weaving also revealed this week that there had been a moment this year when she almost was cast by her Ready or Not collaborators in Scream 5, saying, We were talking about it, but our schedules aren’t gonna work, which is a bummer. Scream 5 is expected to be released sometime in 2021 (probably later in the year), and filming is expected to start in Wilmington, North Carolina, later this year.
